We met at their shop and they took us in a van to the starting point 10 min away. After a quick safety brief we got on the water. Our 5-year-old rode with my husband, I had our daughter, and our 13-year-old went in a single. There were a few tiny rapids that the kids loved and a quick stop at a creek where we explored a little. Layne and Luna were very friendly, patient, and helpful guides as we went down the river. Of note, our meeting point was in Alberton, about 20 miles west of Missoula, not in Lolo like it says on Yelp. You won't be disappointed!

I'm so thankful because both came in so handy. The room was cute, comfy and location was secluded which is what I was looking for. We met earl the duck, he's something else, in a good way. I love the animals roaming around. They bring so much peace. I dipped in the hot tub at night, I felt safe with my daughter, was so relaxing. The host Jason gave me some ideas on dinner in Darby. I'm glad because it's a very small town and lots of places close early. I will definitely be back but with my Hubbie. This is perfect for couples too. We were immediately greeted by the host, Jason, which led us to the room. He was extremely friendly in showing us around and they let us roam freely on the grounds down to the river and meet all their little chickens. We stood in the west slope suite which was very cute and the bed was extremely comfortable. They give a lot of pillows, blanket, toilet paper, towels etc. I would not consider the room to be a cabin or anything of the sort, it is quite literally a room with a bathroom. The bathroom is huge and has a nice jacuzzi tub. There room is attached to the main house so it doesn't feel private at all which is when my only complaint goes to. I do like to feel a bit more secluded and private and not feel like I'm intruding on someone's home or property even though you're paying to stay there. It does feel a bit awkward at times. The hosts once again are amazing and very attentive when we needed anything at all they responded extremely fast and went above and beyond to help us with anything. His wife Toni is very responsive when it comes to texting and our phone call to her , she made us feel heard and safe as us people coming in from the city. It's always a little scary staying out in the middle of nowhere but once again they made us feel very safe. The hot tub is very nice but it is on the back deck of the main house which again didn't feel private but that's just my own preference of things.

Brooks took me up to Rock Creek yesterday for a magnificent day. No joke- I caught 25 fish and saw…read morea moose. Brooks taught me to fish a few years ago when my dad starting bringing me on his fly fishing trips. Now I come up to Montana to fish with Brooks a couple times per year. Guides everywhere tell me Brooks is the best. He grew up on the rivers in Montana and knows every nook and cranny of the Bitterroot, Clark Fork, Blackfoot, Missouri, and the ever so special Rock Creek. I know that when I'm out with Brooks, if the fish are biting, I'll get as many as the Montana regulars or like yesterday, 25. On my very first trip out, on a cold February day, I caught 7 on the Clark Fork. Brooks has also had me catching a couple trout during snow storm on the Missouri. If you know anything about trout, those are pretty excellent numbers on cold Montana days. And if I'm really lucky (and if you are really lucky), Brooks will cook up an elk burger for lunch. Brooks works with some pretty amazing other guides as well. As an outfitter, he doesn't mess around with guides who don't know rivers or trout, aren't safe, or jerks.

Brooks provided a great experience during our float down the Bitterroot River. We caught several…read morebeautiful trout, including browns, cutthroat, rainbows and hybrids. He knows the river, the hatches and the feeding habits of the fish, so he was able to position us for several dozen strikes. He is an excellent coach who tells you where to cast, when to mend and when to set the hook. After the fish is on, he nets it and then sets you up for the next one. If a hole is productive, he rows back to the sweet spot to give you another shot at it. Brooks is very observant, pointing out four bald eagles, an osprey and some elk during our float. He provided a freshly made lunch, high quality rods and reels, and tied on the best flies and patterns for the current conditions. The river is known for having fallen trees and other hazards, so he used his experience and skills to keep us safe all day. I highly recommend fishing with Brooks next time you want a great fishing and nature experience in western Montana.
