I have had about 25 cats in my 76 years. I started going to Companion Pet Clinic in the mid-90s, when it was opened by Dr. Dean Wilson. I come from a background as a medical transcriptionist, so I am familiar with a lot of medical information. I have found Dean to be an exceptional veterinarian. He is an excellent diagnostician and frequently knows the problem without giving my cat many expensive tests. As a surgeon, he is without equal in Klamath Falls. I remember a time when they were complaints, I believe from the shelter, that when Dean spayed a cat, they could not find the scar. If I recall correctly, they wanted him to tattoo cats that he had spayed. I don't recall the final resolution to this matter. At one point, I had to move to Nevada for a job. While there, it was necessary to have a cat spayed. The scar from that veterinarian ran the length of the entire abdomen. This was not necessary and would also put more stress on the cat. I was so happy to get back to Klamath Falls, we're Dean could take care of my cats. Dean now has more veterinarians working at the clinic. I'm sure they're all excellent doctors. However, my heart belongs to Dr. Dean Wilson. read more

I'm truly surprised to see some of the negative reviews here. I'm new in town and had to find a new vet. Pet Medical Center had been recommended to me but they wanted me to come in in-person and provide a $100 deposit before I could make an appointment for my dog, which seemed super weird to me. Another vet I called wasn't taking any new clients. Companion has good reviews on Google (4.3 out of 5 stars) (much better than on Yelp, which I didn't see until after my appointment). The front office staff, vet tech, and veterinarian I saw were all very friendly and took time to make my dog comfortable. The office visit fee ($70) was reasonable, and the facility seemed clean and comfortable. I'm super happy with them and glad I found our new go-to vet. read more

This is my first YELP ever....I am having a very difficult time. I just lost my cat after calling for 2 days and this clinic would not let me come in and just check her out. Had NO time for me and my poor sick cat that was suffering. I dont think the receptionist has any compassion at all for animals or people as we were reaching out for help. She was so rude! I came to this vet as a new customer. They treated us nice, and were very helpful in the beginning. To help me make an appointment for my Doberman to get his ears cropped. I paid a total of over eight hundred dollars. Which also included the aftercare posting of his crop. It includes the rod backing, the surgical tape, and medical tape. They guaranteed that they would use those materials eight times, for 190 dollars. However, i have only received one actual posting of those materials, they have charged me four times. The rest of the three times I brought my dog in has been done with only tape, not the whole posting. They told me there was no need for it. When my dogs ears are not staying up right at all. And bend onto his head. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS! I did not pay for a service to be done for almost 1,000 dollars, just to have five dollar tape from Rite-aid on my dog! I could see my dog getting worse, so I decided to get a second opinion. when the new veterinarian came back and showed me the x-ray there it was CANCER. My fiancee and I were on our way to fish lake for the weekend from Red Bluff, CA. Our pup Kavik started acting really strange and I wanted to get him seen. I called them and they told me to bring him in when I got to town. Thank goodness. We got to town about 30 minutes later and took him straight there. I only waited about 15 minutes. They did a good evaluation and concluded that he was having some inflammation in his nose and throat, probably allergies because he wasn't pawing or acting like anything was up his nose. They prescribed him some pills and we had a great camping trip, he felt great. Thank you!!!!! read more

I'm not quite sure how you look at an animal and decide you don't have the time of day to look over it's results and the end goal is to get them out of the office so you can collect your money. Terrible experience initial appointment, but it was definitely made right. I had a great experience with Dr. Wilson. He was very knowledgeable about dogs. I have a little 6lbs chorkie. The staff and veterinarians are amazing!! They are patient and knowledgeable. They aren't just seeking to take your money. They really care for your pet and want what's best for them. Nothing more nothing less. They not only treat your pets like family they treat you like family too. I've never felt pushed aside or undermined by them. Companion... I hate them. Don't take them there if you want living and happy animals. They're why my cat has three legs. He got a severe infection, because of their fuck ups for weeks. The vet tech was supposed to unwrap his leg, disinfect it, and rewrap it every week for two months. I brought him in every week and unbeknownst to me she would wrap over the wrapping and not disinfect it. He had his leg amputated. If the infection had gone any further I wouldn't have a cat. I was then told I couldn't get the antibiotics or pain medication he needed. I had to start yelling to get them. Also, I didn't know my dog had hip dysplasia. I was told she was fine, for years, and I had to put her down early. I asked on every visit for years about her hip. Instead of giving me the tools I needed early in her life she went untreated. By the time it was caught I was given lectures for not caring for her. Now they're telling my friend she never came in with her dog when she did. Their bad treatment wound up killing her dog. To recap: one cat that almost died and had his leg amputated, one dog that had hip issues ignored and had to be put down early for pain, and now telling my friend she never brought in her dog when she did. Which their treatment led to her dog's death. They need to be shut down. They're awful. I wouldn't take my animals to them in an emergency. They're not an option if you want your animals to live. Let alone live normal and happy lives. read more

Very nice staff. However our experience was a hot mess. Our previous vet had retired. Our dog has had seizure medication for at least 6 years. We needed a phenobarb level test and a heartworm blood test. We called, explained that the phenobarb blood test should be 3 or 4 hours after medication. We set up a time that sounded appropriate for the two tests. We get there and they tell us that they can't do it, it is not enough time after the phenobarb had been given. Huh??? They give us a time for a blood test first thing the next morning and tell us that is the correct time. The next morning I bring in our dog. The receptionist tells me that it is a drop off. I ask why. She doesn't know as there is nothing on his chart and procedes to ask different staff. They say that it has to be right after medication. They tell me to come back at noon. I start to leave and stopped and ask for a piece of paper explaining why and when I should come back. Suddenly two staff say, wait, let me phone the vet (the only vet in the building was in surgery). They come back and say that they are going to take blood and have the blood test done in a different way. They take our dog and draw blood. Our dog comes out. And then I remember, did you do the heartworm blood test? They said that they didn't know he needed one. I take our dog and said take some blood from the other test (I said that so the waiting room could hear it). I am not happy. I leave quickly. They call later and tell us to come back anytime for a free heartworm test. Oh, we have been called twice for a follow up. Apparently the staff doesn't know what the dog blood test procedures are, don't trust the owners to share that information and don't even write down what they are suppose to be doing. We are presently seeking a vet that will have more knowledge on dog seizures and procedures for blood tests, and one that writes down the information. read more

A little shocked to see the negative reviews of this place, although I do see they are from a few years back and maybe things have changed. My experience with Companion has been professional, kind, and understanding. The front staff is very knowledgeable and prompt, they answer the phone in a timely manner, and there are a variety of discount days where you can get certain things done. We are very opposed to upselling from vet techs and this is the place with the least of it. A few months ago I took my 7 year old lab to companion because she looked like she was in severe pain, was shaking and couldn't move her leg. They charged me 750 dollars for labs and an ultrasound of her abdomen. They told us she was fine and we picked her up at 4:30pm. When my husband got her home she still couldn't move one of her legs, looked to be in severe pain, and kept turning her head to her left side. We called the clinic and they told us we can't take her back to them because they close at 5:30 (it was 4:45 pm). We immediately took her to Medford to an emergency vet where she passed away from a stroke less the 2 hours after leaving companion (where she spent 1/2 the day). She may have passed away regardless, but I think they were so busy, they did not take the time to evaluate. A tech called me the next day to check on the dog and was shocked to hear she died. She had the manager call me who said my dog was aggressive and hard to evaluate and they had to muzzle and restrain her.I was never told this information on the day she was seen, and my dog has never been aggressive in the past. Poor assessment, and communication. Also the most expensive vet in town. read more

We came in today for a minor issue with our 13 year old Chihuahua involving her teeth and an object lodged in them. We arrived as a walk-in (we had been turned away from two other clinics in town who were closer but didn't have veterinarians on site at the time) and the wait was less than 15 minutes once we sat down. The staff was very friendly and helpful in our transition from our prior hospital to this one as we had just moved to the area. Dr. Wilson was very kind and knowledgable when we spoke with him. He took our dog and within 5 minutes or so brought her back with the problem solved. He also provided some insight without forcing a higher cost procedure. I'd highly recommend Companions. read more

I say do not take your pets here, They are too busy to properly react and care. They did not report results re: my cat's anemia, even after I called twice to tell them she was lethargic and not right. This was after a multi hundred dollar and 3 night stay. We lost one of our family members due to there lack of intrest. She was 13 uears old and had a good 5 to 7 years of life left. They said she was going to be fine. It was just a hormone issue. They gave her steroids and anti nauseous medicine. She have been poisoned by rat poison. They should be aware of what this looks like. They should have given her K1 vitamin and made her throw up not keep her from throwing up she died all alone in the middle of the night. I have never written a review for a company before but my experience has been so horrible this place takes the cake. I adopted a stray cat so I called and set an appointment to get neutered and vaccinated. I told them specifically that the cat is a stray and I also asked for an estimate for the pricing. They told me they were unable to give me an estimated price and made the appointment. When we arrived for the second round of vaccines, I mentioned that I wanted to do blood work and test for feline leukemia since he was a stray and wanted to make sure the cat is all healthy. The person at the desk told me they cannot test for leukemia since he got the feline leukemia vaccine already. The person told me they normally recommend the feline leukemia test for stray cats during the neutering appointment. Even though I had said many times prior to the visits that this cat is a stray cat they never mentioned this and proceeded to do the feline leukemia vaccine without doing the feline leukemia test. Because of this, my cat now has antibodies and cannot be tested for feline leukemia... I also asked what was the estimated pricing for basic bloodwork to be done for wellness and they were still unable to provide pricing, not even a ballpark. It appears that this practice has extremely poor communication skills and the receptionists have no clue what they are doing. -20/10 would not recommend read more

I brought my min-pin mixed, 8/9 year old dog to have his annual exam, teeth cleaning, nail trimming, lab work, etc. -- the works! He is my only dog (& 1st dog on my own), and just to be honest I am the overly-concerned, crazy dog-mom, so let me tell you how PLEASED I am with this clinic! Dr. Karen Bird attended to his care, and made me feel at ease. I trusted that my dog was in good, caring, knowledgable hands! When it was time to see my dog again, all of my questions were answered, and my dog is now as good as new! But wait, there's more! My mom also brought her 10 year old dog in for a sore on her paw. Dr. Bird shared her wisdom on what it was, how she can help relieve the pain, and what my mom can do to help it heal. I'm 72 years old. In my lifetime, I have had about 20 cats. Dr. Dean Wilson has treated probably about 15 of my cats. I have been going to him since shortly after Companion opened in about 1995(?). He is such an excellent surgeon, that the shelters complained they couldn't tell if a female cat had been spayed. (I wonder if he has to put a tattoo on them now.) He has excellent diagnostic skills. Many a time, he has known the diagnosis without putting me through lots of expensive tests. He treats my cats with respect. I must say he always tries to work with me and my small budget, since I retired on Social Security. And everything is so clean. One time I was forced to go to another clinic in an emergency. I will never go to that clinic again. It was filthy and the vet was not forthcoming with information. I won't mention any names but it was next to a fast-food chain. read more

I love Companion Pet Clinic and Dr Dean Wilson is the very best. I think they are the best vets that I know of. I drive 7 hours each way to come to Companion. I cannot begin to thank them for the many many times that they have come to my pets rescue. We were just recently there because our Bulldog Beatrice was on day 55 of her pregnancy and was having numerous complications.. Dr Dean Wilson and Dr Hill kept Beatrice there and monitored everything for the survival of Beatrice and her 8 puppies. I can't recommend this Clinic enough for all your pets needs. Thank you Dr Wilson and staff, Keep up all your great work and don't let the bastards get you down with the crap talk on here. I took my cat in for an exam for some bad teeth in his mouth, I was given a high end quote and a low end quote... the low end included a teeth cleaning including anesthesia, antibiotics for infection, 3 extrations, and pain meds for in clinic... $437.50. I needed a second opinion. I took his records to a different vet and they quoted me for teeth cleaning including anesthesia, pain meds during and after procedure, antibiotics, and 3 extractions for $154.50. I would not recommend going to companion unless you wish to be robbed! read more

I am appalled. I was here two weeks ago to get my Pomeranian fixed. When we were getting ready to leave, one of the techs approached me to give me take home instructions. Aside from most of the girls here being extremely rude to me, they treated me like i was a horrible pet owner because my dogs teeth were dirty. They suggested that i have them cleaned in 2 weeks when she came in to get her stitches taken out and said they had a special running for 30 to 35 dollars depending on what needed to be done. I set the appoinment and drove from california 2 weeks later. They called us while she was in there and told us that our two year dog needed9 teeth removed. After being warned about this place by a good number of people, that rise some red flags. I told them i would get a second opinion and to just continue with the cleaning for the 35. The girl on the phone paused and said, "I don't know who told you 35 but it's 160." My jaw dropped. I was put on hold for the office manager for 45 minutes until my phone died, waited an hour amd mever got a call back. When i called back to speak with the manager he was extremely short with me and told me he needed to check the surveillance videos to find out how the conversation had transpired. Then i was hung up on. I went straight to the clinic to straighten this out. I waited for 45 minutes amd was escorted into a room where the office manager came in amd immediately started raising his voice. He said the he look at the tapes but that conveniently, the conversation had taken place in the lobby where he couldn't hear anything but assured me that his employee would never mislead me or misunderstand me because she had been there for a long time and wasn't stupid..... (Apparently I was). He continued to yell over me until i was almost in tears and finally just walked out while my husband tried to figure out how we were going to pay 5 times the amount we were originally quoted. We ended up having to apply for scratch credit to even get our dog back. So aside from lying to us, cheating us, yelling at us and having an absolutely filthy establishment.... I'm out $160. Please don't take your pets here! All they see is $$$$ when you walk through the door with your animals! read more

I really hope that all of the staff sees my review and knows that they missed an opportunity to save my dogs life. I brought her in, tears rushing down my face because I know my dog more than anyone and knew she was dying. I came in for help for my dog and you guys did the opposite. You helped her die. You guys told me she just had a hormone disease. She was literally dying in my arms from rat poisoning and you guys should have taken better care of her and figured it out ! All the signs were there. And you guys told me not to worry about the coldness of her mucus membranes or pretty much anything . You guys are not fit to care for animals. When you should have been inducing vomiting and giving her vitamin K1, you were GIVING HER MEDICINE TO MAKE HER NOT VOMIT AND STEROIDS. I knew she was dying. I felt she was and I wanted to take her home with me but you guys told me to leave her there because it was in her best interest. That was the last I saw my baby girl. When you guys could have saved her life you helped her die more. No wonder she didn't make it through the night. I had her since I was 9 she was literally all I know and you guys did nothing to save her life. Her name was Eeyarna. And I know you guys know who she was and how when you went in to check on her the next morning you probably said "we messed up" when you found her dead. None of you are fit to be there. I really hope you all burn in hell. *update* I'd like to also add that I took my cat in to this place as well. He had an abscess on his foot and they had to do surgery. They told me to come back with him in 14 days to get his stitches removed. When I went back they told me that he had the dissolvable kind of stitches ( if that was the case they shouldn't have told me to come back in the first place) so we left. Three or so weeks later my cats leg is all healed and there are still stitches in his leg. I called to see if they could remove them but they wanted to charge me ... Also, someone whom I've never seen at that pet clinic, messaged me saying they didn't have any records of my baby girl Eeyarna. I have receipts and everything. They must really know how bad they screwed up and got rid of my baby girls records. Please take your animals somewhere else. This place needs to be shut down. *update* have messages from whoever commented below that they have found my dogs records. Don't listen to his comment. I have receipts and everything for both my cat and my dog AT THAT EXACT CLINIC. And they commented saying that I was wrong after they found my dogs records finally. First, let me start by saying we love our vet, Dr. Kari Hill! We moved to KFalls just over 4 years ago and a neighbor recommended Companion Pet Clinic. The little house turned business is so cute, clean, and comfortable; the recent updates are very nice too. The staff is friendly and their prices are reasonable and seem fair. So, why not 5 stars? Well, we almost always make an appointment but we always seem to have to wait, whether in the waiting area or after being placed in the exam room and sometimes longer than 30 minutes! I understand running a bit behind or possible emergencies but we make appointments to accommodate our personal schedules and that appointment time should be more valued and respected just as being on time is a respect to our provider. Are the doctors being over-booked or are the walk-ins (those without appointments) infringing on our time? In talking with other customers while there, they feel the clinic will lose customers if the waiting continues. read more
