To meet the needs of this growing western Boynton Beach community, Palm Beach County's 18th library has opened in Canyon Town Square. The Canyon Branch is a two story library that opened on January 11, 2025 behind the amphitheater of the Canyon Town Center. It covers 33,000 square feet offering a flexible environment designed for enrichment and collaboration. The beautifully designed library has over 130,000 lendable items, including books, DVDs and digital media. There are also desktop computers, printing, scanning and free Wi-Fi and patrons can borrow laptops. There is also a large meeting room, smaller conference and study spaces, two themed areas for children and teens, and a CreationStation and Makerspace for exploring digital and traditional arts. Additional amenities include self check out, a drive-up service window, a separate drive-up book drop, and an outdoor plaza with solar-powered lighting. It also has a recording studio similar to the one at the main library in West Palm Beach. I love all of the cozy seating spaces set up throughout the library for people to read, learn, and engage. This state of the library is a wonderful resource to connect the community. One of the most unique features of the library are the six columns that hold up the canopy at the entrance to the building, They are the canvas for Opening Minds, an art installation Brad J. Goldberg, who was selected from a pool of more than 70 professional artists from all over the world. Each of the columns is uniquely etched with book titles, music, quotes, and streams of binary code to symbolize the role of libraries in both the physical and digital realms. These pillars represent the many ways knowledge is shared, preserved, and celebrated. The six columns have more than 400 contributions, in 13 languages to reflect the wide range of cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds that Make up the community. Second of all this has to be the worst housing authority I've come across- so bad that I ended up forfeiting my voucher!!! Riesa A Lowery the portability specialist as she calls herself is a cruel unfair heartless woman who could care less about anyone who isn't of her RACE! Now normally I wouldn't say such a thing but what she did to me needs to be known. She waited 48 days from when my packet was received to issue me an appointment and that was only after I had a social worker step in. She fails to answer calls or emails for weeks on end. When I got there it was a side show circus of the low of the low. We were all dragged into a classroom after being given recert packets that normally you get in the mail before the day of appointment- rushed to fill them out in front of about 13 families and were to pass our social security cards and licenses around a room full of people. We were then called one by one to the back of the room where everyone else could hear our business and was yelling and running in and out the door like this was a social club . All other families except mine were African American - I'm Caucasian my husband hispanic we had our child with us who had to see this nonsense- I was the first one in and the last one out. Many people didn't bring their required paperwork I however did- those who didn't caused some disruption causing everyone else to sit and listen to the screaming for 3.5 hours!!! By the time they got to me it was 4:28 and Riesa said she doesn't get paid a min past 4:30 so she told me to sign papers without reading them! As to say I received them!! and agreed to terms I never heard of before which is BS! Then for me questioning her as to how this isn't fair that I traveled so far and wasn't even really seen she gives me a $1000 voucher for a 2br when I'm supposed to get $1200 as per the website. Everyone else got the website amount but me. Then I asked if she was gonna reissue my voucher being I only had 12 days to find a place now and she said no. Mind u she was the one who wasted my voucher time by not telling me how much my voucher was before arrival and wasting 48 of my 60 days! She was very rude and disrespectful to me. In floridas market right now there is nothing for $1000! Unless u move to the "first 48" and plan to be robbed and killed. I told her I felt I was being treated unfairly and she didn't care she told me if I don't like it why don't I just give up my voucher and then I could do or go wherever I want. That's real professional! She told me that any packet I turned in to move she would deny if it was one dollar over $1000. She left me unable to find a place before returning 10 days later to my home state. She first approved all my income and papers and then turned around for me asking for her supervisors number and said now she wanted 6 months of bank and paypal statements which were hard to get without a computer and printer out of state! I had brought the requested 3 months with me. Needless to say even working with 3 real estate agents I found nothing! My voucher has run out now and still not one phone call or email from her! I'd advise not to port to this office! 10 years I had section 8 with no issues! I come here and basically lost my voucher in a weeks time!!! The place is dirty the staff are a bunch of inconsiderate people the supervisor could care less took 4 days for him to call me back! I reported this woman and this agency to HUD for investigation as to housing discrimination . I looked up ms Lowerys Facebook after my realtor brought it to my attention she's one racist lonely woman who has the nerve to look down on people who need help when she has an $8000 goal on a go fund me page for a trip to Orlando lol!!! I'm now on my own and idk what I'm gonna do. But I'm gonna fight till she no longer has a job! So much for trying to have a better life and build self sufficiency . I wasn't about to end up somewhere worse than where I came from when there are so many complexes in nice places that would have took my voucher IF she gave the right amount! Great Community. My family and I have owned here for over a year. The community is very well…read moremaintained. Clean, bright and secure. They keep the community up very well. All the buildings have just been painted and much of the landscaping is redone. There is a walking path and gym my wife uses daily. Pool is routinely maintained. I see the service here frequently. The security at the gate makes sure that only those who should be in the community are. The neighborhood has plenty of street parking for day guests. I routinely interact with the office on a friendly basis and they have always been accommodating with my requests. Many people complain about the HOA fee but I have done the math and if you add up everything included is is pretty close to the prices for theses services individually. I would recommend living or buying here.

This is a relatively new library for Lantana. It was opened in 1923 but according to all reports it took a bit for it to be built -- construction delays, etc. It replaced their former library which was located in a bank building. This place is large! It is packed with books and tapes, etc. There's a long bank of computers in cubicles that can be used. And most of them on a mid-week mid-day time were occupied. There are private nooks and seating areas throughout. A reference section. A children's section. And most impressively, a recording room where you could do podcasts or filming of some sort. When we came by, there was a line of folks to get into the auditorium/meeting room. I'm not sure what was going on there, but they do have many programs and activities for families, children, etc. Overall, it was spacious, clean, and well-organized. It could be a bit overwhelming for some people. But it is easy to see why it is well patronized by the locals.
