Staff was responsive and great, the only reason I am giving 2 stars. However, I had 3 rate increases in 1 year so I do not recommend. It appears the goal is to get you in the door and then continually raise the rent. In addition, the facilities are not the best compared to their immediate in proximity competition. The climate-controlled section that my unit was in was a modified office space to storage units. The had what appeared to be reclaimed interior house doors and very basic latches from the local hardware store. I was only storing decorations so I was "ok" with it until they out priced the competion. There are 4 storage facilities on Walsingham in around a mile stretch of road. Do yourself a favor and shop around. The last storage facility Would at least only increase the rate annually if they increased it. Formerly Indian Rocks Storage, as with many self storage businesses this one was bought out by a "corporate chain" that thrives on jacking up the price of your storage once you are moved in because they think you wont move out. So much for loyalty. For years Indian Rocks didn't raise rates at all and we came here because we were tired of the constant rate increases over at another "chain" storage, Storage Spot. Well, here I am now with a letter about my third price increase since they took over 2 years ago. Some reasons not to choose this (or any corporate chain storage if possible): 1.Their business thrives on getting you in and raising rates -- I have had 3 rate increases, two this year, most recent a $15/mo increase. 2. They REQUIRE you to insure. I have Christmas decorations and a few other holiday items I am keeping out of my garage I don't need to insure them but they require it now. Reasons not to choose this Compass Storage money grab location: 1. I have asked for over a year to replace the gasket/trim on the bottom of my door since the lawn people blow dirt and debris in the storage unit I end up having to clean/sweep out. I have left my key in the office for months at a time. Never done. They blame Covid now (I asked way before Covid and they didn't do it then either, nice try). 2. Roaches - Since new ownership - 2 live roaches in the unit when we went to get our Christmas stuff out. Our Christmas tree train got home, took out of box and it was completely filled with roach droppings. Not a few.. tons of them. Enough that I threw the train out and replaced it. We complained to the office and they said they sent their pest control there and found nothing. 3. Insult your intelligence by the rate increase letter saying during challenging times we are giving more notice. The letter is dated October 30 and rate increase December 1. Thanks for the whole 30 day notice! Do yourself a favor look for a nice locally owned NON corporate storage who hopefully wont sell to a large chain and give them your business. I would not recommend this place. We had a credit card that had to be shut off due to fraud. Life is busy. I didn't call them back the immediately and they charged a 20 dollar late fee. When I called with the new card, Stacey was condescending and rude. I tried to make right and give them a new card and they would not remove the late fee. They are rude. Find another place less high maintenance. Also, we paid on time by monthy withdrawal for over a year. One hiccup and no understanding. Just bad business. ​ read more

I called in reference to a storage unit that's climate controlled and Stacy was so polite and happy to tell me everything that's required to set up the unit and was very clear about the fees and how it all worked. She was so nice and very patient while I wrote everything down and I didn't feel rushed Would highly recommend read more

Don't waste your time or money. And definitely don't book it online. Your going to want to see the unit first, make sure its not a second floor, no elevator unit cause the website neglects to tell you that. Also make sure it isn't one of the units with chicken wire walls. There are FAR better and lower cost facilities within that vicinity. read more

I had to go 'handle' my storage unit yesterday, and as promised to the poor woman that works there, I am posting the story for the masses. I know this is not her fault and even apologized to her for making her have to deal with me. We have a small 5 x 10 storage unit, that we've had now for almost 2 years. The facility was originally owned by Indian Rocks Storage, but was bought out by Compass Self Storage. My bill WAS $34 per month and until Compass took over, I never had a problem. Since these people took over, trying to pay the bill has become a huge pain in the ass, half the time the link to pay doesn't work and when it finally comes up a week later, I am stuck paying a $15 late fee. They will text and email me daily with threats until the bill is paid, but if the link doesn't work, that SHOULD be on them, not me. It never works out that way because they have all my stuff and will not unlock it until I give them what they want. So last month, I lucked out and the link worked prior to late fee time and the payment posted on September 5th. On September 10th, the bill for October was in my email. It stated the balance was $34.14. So October 1st rolls around and I go in to pay it and the payment page says I owe $52.45 I cannot change the amount I'm paying it will only accept this amount or nothing. I work from 9 to 6 Mon-Fri and have peoples PHI (personal health information) so no phone for me all day. Extremely high security, no exceptions. So Mike calls them and gets their Saturday office hours for me and I went down there yesterday. Donna in their office tells me that the bill is now $75. She explains that $8 is for September's new mandatory insurance that went into effect on September 10th, $12 is for October's and the additional $23 is my late fee. She apologized that I was not notified about September but since it didn't go into effect until the 10th, and my bill had already been paid, they just 'allowed' it to roll over. I showed her my October bill that is dated September 10th that had no mention of either September nor October's new insurance. Not to mention it had the $34.14 balance due as usual. She assures me that all 999 other units have angry customers as well but we had no choice but to pay. I said that I would pay it now, however I was going to get in touch with corporate, post this on social media and file a complaint with the BBB. She said that she's sure they would credit my $8 for September because Compass Self Storage Corporate genuinely cares and takes these things seriously, but that it states in my new Compass contract that I signed when they bought the place 6 months ago, that the insurance was mandatory. The company has been kind enough to give us all a grace period. I then explained slowly, that I did not get a new contract, I have not seen or signed anything. She said "Well you should have gotten one." She did not however offer me one, she gave me a pen as my parting gift and said I should talk to her District Manager as he really cared about his customers. We live in a 1 bedroom apartment. The rooms are currently occupied by all of our stuff that we need all the time. The storage unit has our Christmas stuff, costumes and sewing machine, our winter clothes and things we love but don't have room for until we have a house. I now have to spend my days off weeding through all of my things so I don't need these bullies in my life. read more
