I'm a veteran and my experience was the polar opposite of the two prior reviewers. Dr. Mesches is a kindly older gentleman, he is friendly, professional, and thorough. As is the efficient and pretty receptionist who processed my intake forms. CHO held true to their promise to match local prices for their service and provided a substantial discount. 2 stars, great check in staff...never had a good doc. Why can't cannabis doctors give us the same time and respect as a general physician? I made an appt, was seen on time, super friendly staff and easy renewal process. I come here every single year to renew. This time around, i checked in and everything was great and then was told to wait a moment until dr. Hana Barth was available. She motioned me in while she was still ok the phone. I came in and sat down and waited almost five minutes for her to finish her phone call. Once she finally gave me her attention, she repeated questions and seemed to not know how to use her computer. Her phone kept buzzing and she let it ring forever and then while we are talking she picks up the phone and proceeds to talk to someone about a lawnmower. I spent more time in there waiting for her to get off the phone then getting any real medical information. She asked what I did for a living etc, but was really concerned with my weight. I know I am overweight and of course a doctor should talk to me about weight loss options, but a I wonder how cannabis will help me with that? She never once mentioned what types of cannabis might help me with the pain and depression my incurable chronic illness creates, but she did take out her lunch and showed me what a healthy meal she prepared herself. Made me feel like a loser. Last year Dr. Solomon didn't even believe me about my illness because for some reason they didn't put that in my file from the year before. I am someone who uses cannabis daily for a neurodegenerative disease. I just pray someday I can pay to get real council from a legit doctor about how different strategies of cannabis therapeutics can help me. I've had mixed experiences here. If you get Dr. Barth she will literally be on her phone the whole time, while she's supposed to be talking to you. The other staff are great, and one time I got a different doctor, a man with a pony tail and ear piercings. I'm bummed I can't remember his name but he was very helpful and kind. He gave me a much longer space of time to talk to him about my issues and genuinely seemed to care. If he was the main one I was going to every time I would give them five stars!Unfortunately you'll most likely get the one who's addicted to their own phone to the point of absurdity and flat out rudeness. Very unprofessional and very unhelpful. Dr. Thomas Phillips was completely unfriendly and seemed very skeptical about my condition. He tried to get me to return for another visit, because I have been unable to secure my medical records from my acupuncturist, who is out of state. I asked him to contact her with the hopes that she would respond to another medical professional. He reluctantly agreed after he tried to get me to return for another visit in 2 months. It is very disappointing to see that a medical facility that boasts about their concern for medical cannabis patients treats them so poorly. Have gone here to originally get and to renew my script past few years. Upon receiving my script the first time along with my first renewal, I was seeing Dr. Barth, Really liked her and was very understanding. When I renewed it was very smooth, basic questions of how have I been doing since we last met, any improvements, which products have been working well, etc. Quick and easy but felt like a normal follow up. That being said, last time I renewed Dr. Barth was not in that day and had to see Dr. Solomon. Wow what a difference. He was very skeptical of me even though I had all docs on file from the prior times and was extremely hesitant to give the green light for renewal. We informed them we came from over an hour away and we were told to come in any time before 4 and we would be seen. We show up at 3:45, after having great difficulty finding their building (741 is listed online but it takes you to 4th and E, they're a block over in a different building labeled 747) I walked in, explained that I had called and they told me they would not be able to see me and asked if I would come back tomorrow. I had only called on the previous Friday to see about an appointment; I asked for a Monday morning, preferably between 10 and 11; they had a 10:45, and I was on my way home before 11:30. The staff is very professional. They check your vitals (blood pressure and weight), and the doctor listened to my lungs and heart, as well as going over my medical history. Answered all my questions and I didn't feel rushed (unlike Kaiser, but that's another story). A recommendation is $100, but I was able to get $10 off with my SSDI letter. Definitely bring that, Medicaid or SSI proof if you have it. A card is extra on the day of the visit, but free after that. Easy in and out and definitely recommended. read more

A sad excuse for a "Compassionate Health Option" in Santa Rosa!! It would appear Michael R. (wrote a review on 8/20/2012) and I had a very similar experience with this very unprofessional and judgmental establishment. I drove 2.5 hours from Mendocino after being told by their phone service that they welcomed walk-ins and charged $90 for new patients. Upon my arrival, I informed the doctor, who appeared to be doubling as the receptionist and doctor in this professional establishment, I was a new patient without an appointment. After telling him this he immediately looked me up and down and stated: "you do realize you must have legitimate documentation from a physician detailing your condition and symptoms that require the use of medicinal cannabis." This was the first thing he said to me!! I guess I looked to healthy for him to have COMPASSION for me or my condition. This place disgusts me and the fact that they use the word compassionate in their business name is a disgrace to not only that word, but a disgrace to what we in Northern California stand for and represent; peace, love, acceptance, and most importantly compassion. Drive the extra distance to the city and pay less at either Affordable Evaluations (usually have a 50% off coupon on tripadvisor.com) or Greenway in the Mission district of the city. Their renewal prices are higher than most and the wait is incredible. I'm still sitting here- an hour later waiting to be seen for a renewal. I made an appointment in advance and still have to wait this long. Ill be looking elsewhere when it comes time to renew next year. This has got to be the worst place to get an evaluation, i went here trying to renew my old card and they wouldnt allow it and made me sign as a new patient and that ended up costing 120 dollars, lete add you pay this fee before you even get evaluated by the actual doctor, then theyll make up an excuse such as you dont have your medical records so.youll have to.come back.in 2 months after they get your records for which you have to pay an extra 25 to get reevaluated , hmm im.still waiting for that call back and my card expires next week,if youve got medicatiion for your ailments dont bother bringing it because theyll say it doesnt have what its used for listed on it , has to be the worst place ive been to just to get a recommendation, so after all this i spent 120 for only a 2 month recommendation not worth it read more

By far the most unprofessional business i have ever set foot into. The staff is rude and will treat you without respect if you are younger. The doctors will lie to your face and then ask for check after check for the inevitable, and if you don't want to pay every nonsense fee they ask for you will not receive you're medical card. I understand they need to make a living but no other mmj doctor asks for over 100$ to just receive the medical card, especially when the doctors have told you in person and over the telephone something completely different. The staff will tell you they will call you back when they won't, and the doctors continuously leave on random half year vacations leaving their patients without their doctor and to talk to someone who knows nothing about your case and will ask for an extra check just to open your file. If you know what's good for you, you will go to another doctor! read more
