She explained everything thouroughly and compassionately and then followed through with a plan that we decided on together. My surgery and recovery went smoothly and I could not be happier! He listened to us. He was open to ordering different diagnostics. He researched for answers. Instead of giving up and sending him along to an adult PCP, he truly wanted to help him. He did just that. He heard a seminar about people with low ALP levels and a condition called HPP. He referred us to JH Metabolic Bone Clinic. TUNGESVIK came in. I was surprised, too, at the consideration and amazing knowledge someone so young as Dr T already had. All of their constant concern and support is like an anti-cancer and anti-nervousness drug! Thank you to JESSICA AND MARIAN, too, for keeping me calm during my procedure. I won't say I'm well versed in cancer, but I did work in cancer statistics for a few years; went through my besties cancer journey at University and Siteman (she didn't survive); watched my parents go through two cancers each; and almost everyone on both sides of my family had cancer before 60. So I can honestly say I know that whatever comes down in the form of a negative diagnosis, I'll beat it because of this team. When you walk the clean, bright halls, you are surrounded by colorful, positive and empathetic pictures making you feel superhuman, or a cancer conqueror, too. While I was waiting (extremely nervous) an older man sitting next to me told me it would be all right. I was so touched that he took the time to notice how scared I was and to talk to me. A snack lady came by to see if we needed anything. All the patients were kind to each other. Can't say that at too many places:) You would think you'd feel like an assembly line but nope. The sense of humor, the reality of it all about life's craziness, the TIME THEY TAKE TO CARE made me feel so comfortable and not nervous anymore!! I really wish my bestie had MO Cancer Associates on her side when she was diagnosed. I'm sure she'd still be here.... The reception area is well staffed and comfortable with the scheduling areas located near the exit instead of right at the front door. I am especially impressed with the chemotherapy suite which is bright with sunlight and cheerfully decorated. Patients receive chemotherapy in recliners spread around the room, which is divided into sections to create a more intimate environment. Friends and family are welcome to attend chemo sessions with patients and the nursing staff goes to great length to make the patients and families comfortable.
