Layne and Tieshia were awesome in getting me financed (which I wasn't sure would happen) and helped me pick out the perfect used boat for my family. We did buy an 06 bowrider with 400 hours on it so the 30 day warranty they gave us has been a life saver. I knew the boat wasn't going to be perfect with its age and hours but every issue we've had over the past few weeks; they've taken care of quickly. Out thousands of dollars with poor basic mechanic work, no safety checks, and now needing a new engine for a yamaha sx230 HO with a couple hundred hours on it. Brought the boat to Complete marine. Spark plug was stuck in #3 cylinder head, as owner/I tried to drill it out. Long story short this happens if you check jet boater forums. Head could not take a sert insert so the engine needed a new head. Service: 1. New head, 2.Grease intermediate bearing,3. New spark plugs, w/Oil change Provided 3rd party new head as Yamaha didn't have part available. "supposedly" completed the work. Getting the boat back and opened up the hatch on the driveway to only notice the bilge pump harness over the engine required to disconnect for engine removal wasn't reconnected. Disaster 1 avoided. 1. I put the boat in the water to test, and drove it for 25 min, to have the engine stop, to only realize that the oil was 4 inches above the absolute full line, half the screws were missing from the airbox, consequently over pressuring the system causing the throttle bodies to split out oil and coating the airfilter. The oil was black like the original oil was still in the engine and someone threw more new oil into the engine. Keep in mind the entire engine was removed to do a full oil change. Pumped out the excessive oil in containers on the lake, and limped back with 1 engine. 2. 2nd time the boat went to the shop. Informed of the screws missing. They said the bilge pump harness was not their deal, as they don't check after an engine is installed "extra stuff". Great so not checking if the engine runs, oil levels, and safety items. Perfect that sounds safe. I asked him to clean the throttle bodies, pull out the plugs as they might be fouled and put new air filters in it and run the engine. I also asked if the tech spent 5 min with a feeler gauge to check the lifter spacing on the head when they installed it to insure it didn't get knocked around during shipment. Apparently nope that isn't there scope to follow instructions on the box. You can't ignore basic mechanical instruction and just bolt in. Checking takes 5 min. 3. Picked up boat again. Started engine within 100 yards from the marina... engine bottom blows out at 5K rpm. 4. Called many times... no call back. Called the owner, John. He had to review. 2 weeks later John said he wouldn't even refund an oil change or do any reparations(whatever that means), and it is what it is. Here are the basic items I would say they did wrong. 1. Checking basic safety items, like bilge pump so the boat doesn't sink. Would thought if they disconnected something they would verify it is reconnected. Thankfully I noticed the issue before it was on the water or maybe basic safety check on any boat? 2. Checking oil levels so you don't over pressurize the engine. I didn't know after I got it back I should have had a 2nd technician verify a basic oil change. Who even knows if they greased the bearings on the intermediate. This the reason the engine blew. you can't have 2-3 extra quarts of oil in engine run it and be ok. Having a new head is not how an engine blows. 3. Ignoring basic instructions on a new head. Doesn't matter if it is 3rd party or not, you still have to check items that take 5 min, use torque wrenches per yamaha service manual. This is mechanics 101. 4. Lastly after there is a verified oil mistake, probably if they did another oil change, removed plugs, cleaned throttle bodies, new air filter, and checked the cylinder pressures to ensure there wouldn't be catastrophic damage would be a start. 5. Returning a boat with missing screws. If there wasn't an overfilled oil issue I probably wouldn't have noticed the missing screws. They asked me how I got the top of the filter box off on the lake. It is easy when you don't install screws back. I would avoid with any inboard engine or a jet boat that engine that requires specific oil changing techniques in the manual, or anything beyond. Thankfully the boat didn't sink, and I will not pay $16K+ through them for another engine. read more

From my research on the internet most people buy refurbished engines from a company called SBT for about $2,000 and then charge the labor to swap them out. We ordered our boat 15 months ago after bugging their unknowable unorganized employees for 8 months at least we got but be prepared to work with really bad Car lot salesman. After spending 120k and waiting 8 months you would think we would got some common courtesy after Screwing us on a wake surfboard. They sold us on most expensive "BEST BOARD" which we were happy to pay for but after 5 experts tried 1st day and determined it was a POS worst board board ever made that they must have screwed us to make most commission. Brand new 1 hr use. They probably lost their commission if they let us get refund. Hell an exchange would suffice if hands were tied or some effort. They were very accommodating on my unique request (I wanted a boat that day right before closing because I'm an impulse shopper) The salesperson and the owner were there to assist. Not very happy with complete marine went in looking for a steering system for my pontoon project bought a rack system steering kit and had to pick it up from marine wholesale like 5 miles away when I got the package it was one that they have in there Catalog for $159. And I was charged $199 plus tax ,went back to complete marine, they said they could get the same product but they'ed have to order it from California and I would have to pay shipping ! not sure why they can't honor the catalog price ! We're looking to upgrade to a newer boat and so this place was highly recommended (at least according to yelp). Upon entering it was Awful! walked in there today with barely a greating. In other words it was forced. Usually the sales sharks are at you immediately but honestly they weren't interested in us. We walked into the hot ass showroom, and trying to give them benefit of doubt, we looked at the boats we were interested in and no one came in to ask of we had any questions and we were in there for 15 minutes. Hence, I decided that we were not going to do business with this place and we proceeded to leave. Not surprisingly not one "Thank you for stopping in" or a last attempt to get our business. Took boat in for some extensive repairs, after they looked at it and tore it apart they decided they did not want to do the repairs due to the extent, which is fine I don't have a problem with that! The problem I had is after I went to pick up my boat, and all the scattered parts, we come to find out we were missing many parts for the engine along with one of my biminis...needless to say when I contacted them they had no idea where the parts were nor didn't care much to find out! Purchased a Yamaha AR190 from Bill at Complete Marine while at a boat show. Wanted to try it out before finalizing the deal and Bill offered to meet at Lake Pleasant (close to my house). We met at the lake, Bill ran us through all the ins and outs of the boat and we sealed the deal! Fast forward about 6 weeks... We had an issue with the knob that secures the wake tower. It stuck and when we used a little too much Force to remove it, the knob broke. I called the parts department at Complete Marine and Sam (the parts manager) helped me. Thinking I was going to have to purchase another knob, I was happily surprised when Sam said he had it covered under warranty. Knowing I lived about 45 minutes away from Complete Marine, Sam offered to ship the part to me and picked up the shipping fee on top of everything. Run!!! I called ahead to make sure that they could service my boat engine being an older boat, 1987 Starcraft. They placed me on hold, contacted the service department who again put on hold to ask the service tech and assured me NO PROBLEM, they could. I drove over 40 miles to bring my boat in and was greeted with rude service from RON, supposedly the service manager who told us that they will not work on boats or boat engines that old. I explained that I had called ahead and they assured me they could work on my boat engine. His response "Who did you talk to ". Wow, sorry didn't write his name down, but assured me that you could work on my engine. Not only was he extremely rude to me and my husband he wouldn't even refer us to another repair shop. Unbelievable!!!. and to see the other people in the office offended and embarrased by his behavior? RUN!!!!!!! if the business employs someone like Ron there is something seriously WRONG. Complete marine has the best service dept in 2 states. I had been trying to figure out what was wrong with my johnson out board for months. No one here in Las Vegas could figure out what was wrong. I went to 3 different shops here in lv and no one provided a solution. I knew of the great mechanics at complete because I use to live there. So I picked up the phone, made an appointment. When that day came, I arrived at complete in the morning i dropped my boat off and went about my business in phx. They quickly diagnosed the problem and made the repair. I picked my boat up the same day. It's been about 2 months since I was there. My boat is stronger, faster and has not exhibited any of the same problems I was experiencing before. If you want an honest, reliable boat mechanic visit complete marine. They are a great bunch of guys that know what they're doing. Thx again for your help guys. We had an accident with our boat and took it in for service on March 20, 2014 for insurance claim. It was an insurance claim. Our insurance agent that he would pay for their time. We, also, told them they would be getting the repair work and if the boat was totaled we would be interested in buying a small fishing boat from them. Either way they had a guaranteed customer to repair the boat or the sale of a new boat. On April 14, 2014, I called to cancel the order and the manager told me they had just pulled the boat into the shop. I told them to stop as we were going to pick up the boat to such bad service. Our insurance agent tried repeatedly to contact them with NO reply. The manager told us we could pick up the boat and he would stop the any service. Today we went to pick up the boat and were presented with a $200 bill. The work order it dated 04/14/2014 at 2:00 pm in the afternoon. This dated over three hours after I called and canceled the service. This is the worse boat dealer ever. read more

Within the past year have taken my pontoon to Complete Marine for service. Only having one problem, losing high end speed. C Marine kept my boat 30 days or more each of the 3 times I took my boat in and tried to charge me $1000 dollars each time to fix the same problem. Do the math; close to 100 days in the C Marine storage yard and $3000 dollars to fix one problem. Will know this weekend if the problem if fixed. The Bill is still in litigation with the manager. I will not return my boat the 4th time or ever again. read more
