This pediatric office dismissed my child's urgent medical issue because we arrived two minutes late to an appointment we rushed to after school. I was upfront when scheduling that timing would be tight and was told not to worry--yet we were refused care without any flexibility. We offered multiple solutions, including waiting to be seen later or at the end of the day. None were considered. Messages left on the nurses' line frequently go unanswered, adding to an already dangerous lack of communication. The front office staff is rude, dismissive, and shockingly indifferent, and the office manager appears more focused on control than children's health. The doctors are wonderful if you can actually get in to see them, but the front office makes this practice unreliable for families needing timely care. read more

We have had the worst experience with this office, they absolutely will not return any calls, emails, patient portal requests. I have been waiting on referrals for my daughters care for autism therapy and I have been waiting on referrals for seizures no one will contact us . Do not go here. I initially brought my daughter here because of autism concerns , they said it looked like everything was fine after a 10 min. They missed her diagnosis of mis alignment of her eyes. all of these diagnoses were brought to our attention by the school. she indeed has autism level 2 and needed surgery for her eyes. now we can't even get a referral for the therapy what a nightmare. read more

Im coming here open and honestly to admit that although it was our fault for being 18 mins late due to traffic I called during the 15 min grace period to let them know I was litetally right around the corner. I have 3 kids I had to take with me but the appointment was for two of them. Due to the fact we were late I was told only one child was going to be seen eventhough I begged for consideration and insurance is running out. The front desk girls do not care and quite robotic in nature, do they even have kids? Are they human? My other child is beginning a cold and was still sitting in the same room and could have been seen during those two hours that are reserved. The excuse of "were fully booked" when the waiting area and parking lot was empty doesnt work especially if your NURSE PRACTIONER (which is very nice she's not the problem) could have made double the money in one shot. Both children were in the room and literally no health issues or concerns other than a scratchy throat. So I disagree with what someone said in another review about " comprehensive childcare only caring for money" because if they did , they could have simply left my child on the schedule to be seen in the same room with her sibling there with the hr and half to two hours reserved. Have some consideration for the people giving you bussiness especially for mothers. Comprehensive childcare do you comprehend how youre loosing opportunities to make more money? Your staff is too happy to remove patients that could have been seen in the SAME ROOM STILL DURING ALLOTED TIME. So in reality you are punishing children who could still be seen ...have some consideration. I'd also like to add that since they love to cancel appointments to have an excuse to see less patients, it gives them time to handwrite letters to remind you that "your child missed an appointment" THEY chose to CANCEL!...the audacity of this so called office. RUN from this place!!! TRUST ME!!!RUN!!!! Before I start I never do bad reviews but I need to tell people about this place!!! The doctor I saw was really nice but everything else was so painful. First they don't answer the phone and they do not call you back when you leave a message to them. To make the first appointment they will only do if you bring all the health history but that's ok. The worst thing is about billing and insurance. I brought my daughter for a flu shot and the doctor came to do a first well being exam. Weeks later I received a bill saying that my insurance denied the treatment. So I went to my insurance's website and that said the code was for vision problems not for health problems that's why was denied. I printed everything and I went to the office to ask them to change the code. The lady that take care of billing stuff was first rude. Then she said to me the doctor gave a diagnosis on my daughter about her eyes. I said that was not possible because my daughter is miope and that is already treated from our optometrist and on that visit she has no problems with her vision. Then she told me that this was the diagnose that was giving on that visit and that was my responsibility to pay. So how can this doctors give this diagnose if she is not an optometrist and has no equipment on this clinic to do that???? It's a shame!!!! I don't mind to pay for something that I really use but for something that is not true made me fell like an idiot. I ended up paying but I WILL NEVER come back. And I will spread all of this to the world. We have a lot of other good doctors in Sarasota!!! read more

we are routine patients at the Northport office and when my toddler was feeling ill I took her into the north port office for visit . The obvious concern was the conjunctivitis she had in her eye, but I also explained to Dr. Alex Fernandez that she had had a fever for a few days and had thick yellow mucus coming from her nose. I also explained to him how strep going around our house and it's a possibility she could have contacted it. He semi dismissed my concern and told me she's a toddler and a daycare so it's probably viral ,prescribed me prescription drops for her pink eye and prescription cream for a rash around her mouth. No antibiotics nothing nor did he even remove his stethoscope from around his neck to listen to her or look in her ears ,nose ,or throat to see if there was any sign of infection. After letting the sickness "" run its course after two days she spiked a fever over 103 and was absolutely miserable. Luckily Sarasota office is open for the weekend clinic and we went there and made an appointment with Dr. Carol. he immediately noticed how uncomfortable she was ill. Her fever was now 101. He quickly examined her and without hesitation diagnosed her with double ear infection and said he did not even need to swap her that it was very obvious strep infection . Gracie is on the autism spectrum and drs offices are not her easy and can be extremely uncomfortable. Not to mention she suffered with no way to communicate how awful she felt . I'm extremely frustrated and will no longer see Dr. Fernandez and if anyone reads this I highly recommend you seek a different doctor in that office Dr. Featherman and Dr. Carroll had both been amazing. read more

First off I want to say the doctors we saw here were absolutely wonderful. No complaints. The nursing staff was wonderful. The front desk staff was confused but very nice. Never had a bad interaction. We were dropped as a patient because we questioned two overcharges. I have had the same insurance policy for almost 17 years. Every time we go into the office we owe a 15% COINSURANCE but instead of that they have always tried to collect a copay of $15. Every visit I had to correct them and say no, I owe you more, please look at it again. If they don't collect the right amount they would end up calling me a few weeks late asking for $1.50-$3 and requiring me to get my credit card while in the middle of my work day to pay them. I felt bad for the lady calling, I really did. The credit card charges are more than the amount they are collecting. Fast forward. My daughters last appointment I paid my 15% and then received a bill for $15 in the mail. I called the main number in Sarasota and got a very rude lady, not sure of her name but she was very short with me and was very insistent I owed the $15 but she would talk to her supervisor and get back to me. ( Note I have the saved voicemail where someone did call me back the next day to say indeed I owed an additional copay for a visit) Once she was short with me I decided to call my insurance company to inquire about the claims. After a 20 minute call with FLBlue I found out that they had charge Blue for two separate appointments both in October and in April. They were for Annual Depression screenings. I am not the doctor and I am not aware of any additional screenings they were doing. I told this to the blue representative. Either which, they are not allowed to charge the way they are charging I was told by my insurance company. They told me they would be investigating it and calling the office to see if we can get this settled. Perfect! The following Monday I received a call from Dede The business manager. She was very short with me and accusatory. She was back pedaling about the money I owed and insisted I didn't owe it because they wrote it off and i was wrong for going to blue. Also told me what blue said wrong etc. I couldn't get a word in because she kept speaking over me. Listen guys, I wasn't trying to cause issues I simply knew I didn't owe you money and was trying to get it fixed because your staff couldn't fix it I went to the source and that's the insurance company who you have signed an agreement with to provide care for their customers. It's on your hands. Today is the icing on the cake, 4 days later. I get a letter signed by Dede saying that we are no longer welcomed in the practice. My family is dropped. My appointment was canceled. My daughter who needs refills is stuck. This is unethical. Do your doctors really know what's going on in the practice they work for? By the way, I have let Blue know and they are not happy and are filing a separate grievance over this. We are not difficult patients, I simply knew I wasn't supposed to overpay and I questioned it... Are we as customers not allowed to question? I was not rude. I was not unprofessional. I simply stated facts and because of the attitude I was met with I had to involve the insurance company. I am sure you will come back with some sort of reply putting blame on anyone but yourselves but the fact is stay away moms and dads. read more

We have been coming to comprehensive childcare associates for the past five years with no regrets! I have seen two different pediatricians in town prior to my 2 sons becoming patients at this practice. There is no comparison! We typically see Dr. Murphy and Dr. Carroll. However, we have on occasion seen all four of the pediatricians in this practice. Everyone of them has a great bedside manner. They are very attentive and involve the parents in healthcare decisions. I want to premise by saying the doctors are great! I have 3 kids and they have all gone to see Dr Murphy and Dr Feathermann. Total I have been coming to the office 13 years though you wouldn't know that based on the lack of respect the office shows me. I continue to make appointments here because the doctors are very caring, non judgmental and helpful. However to be honest I have thought of finding a new place to go many times over the years because of the office staff. First of all as a normal busy mom, it is hard enough without having to try and figure out what appointments are needed and when. You would think that when your child is due for a wellness check or a vaccine, that the office would either schedule your appointment when you left the previous one or give you a call to schedule one..nope! You hear nothing..time goes by quickly and you realize it has been awhile since your last appointment. You call the office to schedule, the staff on the phone is then rude, judgmental of how long it has been and treats you poorly. With COVID, it had been even longer since my last appointment mainly due to having to homeschool my other 2 kids as well as thinking it would be safer to keep my healthy daughter home rather than drag her to an office with potentially sick kids. The office staff was once again very rude on the phone, It was this last straw that caused me to write this review. This year has been hard enough on kids and parents. The last thing we need is unkind words and judgment. All in all, I recommend the doctors at this office but be prepared to deal with some very rude office staff..in the end is it worth it?..I don't know I put up with it so my kids have good care but if I was a new mother and looking for a doctor I might look elsewhere! read more

I like the doctors but the billing and front staff are really not helpful. There isn't ONE time when I go there with my sick child that I do not have to deal with some billing issue. Come on and get a good biller already who solves your billing issues. Also: "you must show your insurance card every time you come" and they won't see your sick child if your insurance hasn't paid for something, even if it's a billing problem. One time I had to wait for two hours for my child to be seen because there was an insurance problem that they created and I had to get on the phone with the insurance and they would not talk to the agent. Then, I had to pay the bill before my child was seen and now they owe me money. Horrible customer service. read more

My son, as well as myself, we're patients of Dr. Feathermen, he is a great doctor and always treated my son and I will a great deal of care and respect. Unfortunately the greatness of this doctor is tarnished by a staff member named Lisa who deals with the insurance side of the business. Lisa is rude, crass, and makes her blatant disregard for you as not only a patient but also a person very apparent. While switching insurance agencies she would not help us come up with a plan that was accepted by this doctors office. My son is 15 months old and has become comfortable with these doctors and staff and instead of talking us through the steps to find an appropriate insurance she shut us down and told us to take our business elsewhere which we have decided to do because of this woman and her alone. read more

We have been coming to CCA for the past 5 years for our daughter. My husband used to be one of the first patients of Dr. Featherman too, so it has been wonderful that he is our daughters Ped and soon to our little one on the way! I can't say enough great things about this practice. I had a prenatal apt with Dr. Featherman initially to decide on which practice we would ultimately choose. He is kind, caring, and very thorough. He answered all my questions and listened to my concerns and honored our parenting style. When our daughter was just 15 mos. he caught a missed birth defect because she had 2 UTI's very close together. Because he was so quick, we have been able to save her duplex kidney and have received an amazing care and a fantastic recommendation for a Ped Urologist whom still treats our daughter. The nurses at CCA are absolutely wonderful too. As a new mom not knowing what I was doing or what question was a silly one to call about, they never made me feel like I was crazy for calling. They were helpful and informative and always called me back quickly. They also were amazing when I needed assistance and support for breastfeeding. I don't know what we'd do without this practice!! You didn't do nothing on his first visit , no test no blood work , not even testing his booger for RSV , telling me come back 2 days later if his fever don't come down to charge us another office visit . Telling me it's my fault for not mentioning it . Shouldn't your front desk know just looking at the chart or folder . Forgot their too lazy or stupid . And that sign that you have in front of your office . If you forget your insurance card they won't see you . Shouldn't they have it on file . Either their front desk is lazy or they want to screw you . If you get there and forget your insurance card you either pay CASH or cancel and pay for a cancel visit . Either way they SCREW YOU ! I have been taking my children here for 15 years after being referred by a nurse at Sarasota Memorial. Boy was she right the doctors are fantastic. The decor of the office is of a fun island resort with many toys for the young ones to be entertained with. The doctors take time to make sure you as a parent understand the care needed for the developmental stage your child is in. My son saw doctor Carroll and he is a great doctor! But unfortunately his office staff are awful! I've been charged wrong amounts twice, they called me the DAY BEFORE my sons 6 month appointment and told me they will not see him because they cannot bill his insurance even though I told them I would PAY OUT OF POCKET! The office lady told me, well it's too late I already canceled the appointment before calling you. They offered no help or advice for his insurance issue which they told me to get this specific insurance and then won't even take it! I just called to try and make an appointment for my son, and the lady told me no and then hung up on me! She was very rude, and had no real reason to not schedule the appointment. If Dr. Carroll ever leaves there and goes elsewhere I will go to him again, but I refuse to bring my son somewhere where the staff could care less about sick infants. THEY CARE MORE ABOUT MONEY THAN YOUR CHILDREN. I paid an $8.00 charge 1 day late and they charged me a $7.00 late fee!! They refuse to credit the account even when I told them I would change pediatricians, that they would lose 2 patients!! DeeDee, the office manager, told me she didn't care. Also, they continually hold a credit balance on your account without telling you. When I asked for an accounting of my previous bills, DeeDee told me it would cost $15.00 for a financial statement. So it is ok for them to hold your money without telling you, but it is not ok for you to be 1 day late with an $8.00 charge, which by the way comes in a statement that says due upon receipt, but their 30 day calendar starts the minute they print the bill, not the day you receive it!! No doctor's office is worth being treated like that. There are plenty of pediatricians to choose from. Added 5/13/14 Today I received a certified letter from DeDe the business Manager, telling me they "will no longer be able to provide medical service to (me) or my family"!!! Two days before the appointment they called and told me their panel is full! They wouldn't even explain to me what it meant. Dr. Carroll one of the Dr's in this office saw my son when he was born. He was awesome so I wanted my son to keep going to him. I am now sad and disappointed that I took my son to this office for the first year of his life. The front office staff is awful! They are rude, selfish, they do not care about any of the patients, everyone is number to them. They do not help anyone and all the reviews I have read for this office (which I wish i would have read before I went there) say the same thing about the front office staff. It was my sons one year appt and he needed shots his medicaid had expired so I asked them if I could pay in cash and they would not see my son and told me no they would not allow that. The office NEVER answers the phone and they don't return calls for three days. They are uncouth and rude and not caring at all. My sister was also there and she left them for the same reason she has tried to get a hold of them for weeks for her 4 month olds medical records and they have not called her back. This is very unprofessional and the good Dr's in the office are going to lose a lot of patients due to POOR, POOR customer service from the front office staff. I know I won't recommend them to anyone. I even called (had to leave a message of course) and asked what kind of insurance they took so when I got new insurance for my son I could continue seeing his Dr he has seen since birth....but they never called back!
