I felt comfortable talking with Dr. Matthews right away, and his calm and confident manner went a long way to help guide me to healing. His format seemed very standard, with leaving me alone in a room with the vibrating things on my back, adjusting me afterwards, and then asking me to do some physical therapy type stretches/activities in front of him that I would do at home. The hands-on adjustments were very brief and focused on the particular parts of the body where I was having issues (not the whole body). This seems to be extremely standard practice at most chiropractic offices I have visited. If I needed this type of care again, I would not hesitate to return. I don't know if this is still the case, but when I visited him, he was the only employee working, and I didn't initially realize that the person greeting me was the Dr. himself, as he didn't have a nametag on or identify himself. I purchased a Groupon voucher for 3 message sessions to Vital Health Chiropractic. I had a very…read morenegative experience with the massage therapist Marlene. I was lost coming to my 1pm apt so I tried calling several times but no one answered the phone. I finally found the office and was 10 mins late for my apt. I asked Marlene if she had another client after me, if so I was going to reschedule. She told me she thought her 2pm apt had cancelled but to go ahead lay down and she would call them to make sure. I laid down on the massage table at 1:15pm. Marlene came back to tell me that her 2pm did cancel and we don't have to rush. I was relieved to hear this and looked forward to a full hr massage (as stated in my Goupon 60 minutes massage). She started the massage at 1:20pm. At 2:01pm she stopped and said we were done. I was confused because it had only been 40 mins. I asked her why would she not give me a full hr massage if she did not have another client coming in at 2pm? She replied, "well, I normally stop at 10 mins before the hr to change the sheets..." I asked her again, " why would I only receive a 40 mins massage if you told me we did not have to rush and your next client cancelled?" She never answered my question. Instead asked me," are you not satisfied?" and said excuse me and walked out! She was very rude and unprofessional in the way she handled this situation. I had 2 more sessions but would not like to have her work on me again after this negative experience. I wrote to Dr Ashley about my experience and asked for a recommendation of another therapist as well as honor the 60 mins massage voucher I purchased. Unfortunately at the end of our communication, he would not honor the 60 mins massage but instead said it was an error Groupon made. I ended up canceling my voucher and never went back. Today our lives are full of stress. We come to a place like this to relax, not be treated in an unfair manner by the very person who is suppose to help take away that factor.
