Fortunately for you and unfortunately for me I am pretty familiar with how a good orthopedic…read moresurgeon operates (no pun intended ;). As a junior athlete I did competitive ski aerials and moguls. So I've had my fair share of visits with orthopedic surgeons and can generally suss out which are good and which are not so good. When I fractured my spine the journey to find the right doctor was long and arduous. I kissed a lot of frogs before I found my prince. Dr. Giuffrida is an absolute prince. From a clinical perspective he is an all star. He's knowledgable, he's personable, he's compassionate. It's fun to talk to someone that you know is athletic and also extremely academically curious in their field. Dr. Giuffrida is very personal in how he approaches patient care and listens to your specific goals to suggest approaches that will work for you. I feel much more at ease having a doctor that will not pressure me into unnecessary procedures. He discourages drug use and brings a holistic approach to his practice that only a younger doctor would offer. That being said he is well practiced and versed in everything spine pain. He returns patient phone calls, which reminds me that I am more to him than billing an expensive procedure. I've done the research, from Cleveland Clinic to numerous other names between West Palm Beach and Miami, if you're suffering from back pain go see him and feel better sooner!

Nov 2024, Cantor did surgery on my neck for Cervical Stenosis. He prescribed 900mg/day of…read moreGabapentin before and after surgery. When I awoke from surgery my left arm muscles had atrophied and my whole arm was numb. I could not move my left arm. My wife had to button my shirt for me. Over the next several weeks I was in the emergency room twice because my bladder stopped working..I had to wear a catheter while this was going on to allow my bladder to empty itself. Through my own research I discovered that urine retention was a side effect of Gabapentin..I stopped taking the Gabapentin..when the urologist removed the catheter, for the 2nd time, my bladder started working again. Cantor and his staff seemed unaware of this Gabapentin side effect. Also, my numbness wasn't any better or worse after I quit taking the Gabapentin. Using Gabapentin for this purpose is an off label use..it's normally used in this dosage to manage epilepsy. 5 months later after complaining that my numbness was not improving, Cantor eyeballed an MRI and dismissed my problems as Neuropraxia..he said it would be gone in 18 months. I had my doubts about his prognosis and reached out to a neurologist who referred me to a neurosurgeon who ordered a detailed EMG. 10 months after surgery the EMG report stated that there was no Neuropraxia..It stated the peripheral nerve damage caused by Cantor's surgery was Axonotmesis. The EMG doctor and the Neurosurgeon both said Axonotmesis heals at a rate of 1in per month...they said I was looking at 3-5 years for my peripheral nerves to heal. They also said the motor neurons stop healing after about 18 months. Cantor is obviously not a neurologist or he would have ordered an EMG instead of an MRI to get an accurate assessment of the peripheral nerve damage. I was misled, misinformed and misdiagnosed by Cantor and his staff. 16 months after surgery, my left arm is still noticeably smaller than my right arm, and my numbness is 100x worse than it was before the surgery. Buttoning my shirt is still a struggle. If you have surgery by Cantor and come out unscathed, you are just lucky, it certainly is not because he knows what he is doing.

This is to relate a my story with Jeff Cantor. I had met him during a review and interview of…read moreseveral doctors just in case I needed surgery. Like to be prepared since I knew I was deteriorating. Two neurosurgeons and two orthopedic surgeons were scheduled. During the end of my visit with Jeff while still in the examination room he received a call from one of the neurosurgeons I had appt with. I could overhear the conversation and the gist was could he come immediately and help with a spine surgery he was in the middle of and having issues. The neurosurgeon sounded stressed and worried. Jeff hung up the phone and flew out of the office. That call made my decision for me. Eventually in 1995 I had developed Cauda equina syndrome. Rushed to hospital where everyone was saying I will probably be in pain for rest of my life. Jeff rushed in and performed the surgery. The result over 30 years later and I have had a great pain free life due to this mans skill. Maybe his personality has changed over time but with me he was just a great young surgeon who was very personable and easy to talk too. Dealing with patients over time he may have become a bit jaded but if I needed spine surgery again he would be my go to doctor at least for the next few years. After a certain age skills naturally wain but his experience is priceless. I do not think he would operate if he thought his skills or medical status would be a problem and would adversely affect the outcome. The reason I am writing this now is that some of these comments are just ludicrous hit jobs. I would be annoyed too if you made an appointment and did not have the courtesy to update status or cancel ahead of time. Do not be dissuaded by these detractors it could be the difference between a stellar outcome and a life of miserable pain. I can assure you he probably has no lack of patients and most likely does not need any more money so that is not his motivation. BTW, he is a surgeon and you should expect that to be his solution to your problem if he can offer one.

The worse. I had an appt and was there for hours. Pompous, rude and operating is his goal . I swear…read morethe xray that I saw looked different in another Dr office. I would never recommend him

The front desk staff, in particular Caitlin, are very helpful and friendly. They strike me as a very efficient place. I have to go back for an epidural after I have a sinus surgery first. Dr. Dalton was careful to learn all of my issues, and made sure he did not give me an epidural until it would be safe. They also have physical therapy there, and I plan to go to them after I finish up with my current company. Again, they are just very organized and friendly and I feel like it's one stop shopping to get my back diagnosed and my pain management dealt with and my physical therapy all in one place.
