I had removed an internal SSD from a 27 inch iMac early 2019, which was broken and would not start up. I searched the web for information on an external storage devices for the internal SSD. The information on the web and Apple support communities indicated there was no type of external device to read the iMac internal SSD. Some sources suggested that I use a disc recovery service, but to be aware of the cost involved and there was no guarantee in the data recovery. My final search led me to Computer Planet in Wilkes-Barre, PA. The web address is www.computerplanetpa.com. I took my SSD to Computer Planet and spoke with Arlington. He evaluated the disc and said yeah, he could recover my information, but he would have to develop a workaround. While I was there, Arlington inserted the SSD into another Mac laptop, downloaded sequoia operating system, and began the data recovery. He did all this within 10 minutes while I was there in front of him and he said it would take approximately two hours to complete the recovery. Later that day, Arlington called and text me, however I had missed his call and text message. The next day Arlington returned my call said the data was ready and to bring my external drive. All the data was successfully recovered. None was lost. In summary, I just walked in off the street with no appointment and presented Arlington with my SSD. He was very knowledgeable and explained everything to me. The cost of the recovery was very reasonable. In fact, I would just like to say, if you need any repairs on your electronic device, it's more cost-effective to take it to Arlington than doing it yourself. We drove all the way down from the other side of Honesdale to give this business a try-out. (we are talking 1 hour and 15 minutes one way!). We have heard many good things about the service and the pricing. My wife was complaining about the speed her PC was running and how long it took for her printer to engage. SO, we decided to stop in and talk about what we wanted/needed regarding the her PC. Well, after we described the machine, he started asking specifics. We decided to bring the machine back later in the week for an examination by the Doctor. His recommendation was, not for a new computer, which I thought would be the obvious play. He proposed some hardware change outs and updating some software, and a clean out of the bogging software (my words, not his). When we picked up the machine, it became evident that all that was promised, and then some had transformed our machine into a rocket for the work my wife does on a daily basis. The machine did not qualify for windows 11. He worked it and now has 11 running on it. He also installed a remote access program. Now we do not need to drive to Wilkes-Barre for assistance. Yesterday, I walked into Best Buy with every intention of buying a computer. I had called Apple to get my brand new Mac book repaired and they wanted $1500 for the repair (Granddaughter spilled her juice from her sippy cup on it, poor thing she was sooo scared) looked around on the net and found Computer Planet drove almost an hour to get there but man was it worth it, was there by noon and got a call that same evening that my laptop was running fine. When my laptop refused to boot up properly, I took it to Computer Planet. The technician did some preliminary testing while I waited (immediately upon my telling him what the computer was doing or not doing, in this case). He stated that he was quite sure of the problem.
