I checked into the Urgent Care at Park Nicollet, where a very helpful person asked if I'd like to check out Smart Care. She said it was a new service and virtually no wait (v. the long line at Urgent Care). I thanked her and trudged a short way down the hall. Honestly, that moment likely changed my life, or at least my health. I was treated quickly and expertly and have since made Smart Care my primary provider. I've stopped in for vaccinations, treatment for muscle strains, more stupid sinus infections and have always felt that I received the best care possible. I can easily reach out to them through the MyChart website or with a quick phone call to see if an office visit is necessary. The whole team is friendly and knowledgeable. I always feel as if my concerns are heard and acknowledged. I recommend that anyone looking for a primary care team check this out!

SmartCare by Park Nicollet offers much lower prices, but dramatically limits you to providers within the Twin Cities metro area. Even then, many physicians (including my long-time primary care physician) who work for Park Nicollet are not part of the SmartCare program, which tends to rely on Physician's Assistants (PAs) for primary care needs. I've never been impressed by doctors with diplomas, at least outside of specific surgical expertise. I know many PAs whose expertise rivals those of general practitioners. For 90% of us, you don't need a doctor to diagnose your sore throat and prescribe meds. (In fact, an increasing amount of primary care is *finally* being made accessible through virtual visits.) It's been an active year for me, medically at least: two total knee replacements; a few asthma complications that required medication adjustments; a fun visit to the foot doctor to see if he could help level out my leg lengths after the first knee surgery; pre-op and PT visits for the TKRs; a lovely colonoscopy; and a few other visits I think. All within 10 miles of my Plymouth residence. Next year I probably won't go interact with the healthcare system more than a few times. Only nitpick: The appointment scheduling lines are consistently understaffed to handle call volume, so wait times of 30 minutes are not unusual. Ideally you can use the website to schedule an appointment, but sometimes you need more assistance.

The doctors are highly knowledgable (besides the urgent care doctors) and the nurses are always so very friendly. I usually go to family medicine, as my primary Doctor is an absolutely god send (he knows just about everything and is will to try everything to make sure you're doing well). My only complaint, is that their urgent care doctors are absolutely horrible. They always seem to be in a hurry and act as if you're bothering them. I went in for an infection in my hand after being bitten by a cat (if bitten by a cat visit a doctor immediately, they can be life threatening), the doctor came into the room and had the audacity to say "it's infected, put some antibacterial soap on it." That was it, he left. I then visited a different urgent care, in a different network, and got the appropriate care needed (ended up being a level 4 infection that needed to be drained and pumped full of antibiotics). So, will I be back? Yes, because although urgent care here is awful, I rarely visit that side of the clinic anyway. Everything else is absolutely phenomenal!

PA-C McGown was patient, kind and extremely informative on some other questions we had not in regards to the reason we were actually there for. She listened to our perspective and understanding of my partners medical history, and took my partners thoughts into consideration. All in all it was a great visit, Great PA-C, Great Staff.

My father passed on Sunday, September 2, 2018, after experiencing a heart attack during a physical…read moretherapy session. He stopped breathing and suffered brain damage from a lack of oxygen. When the EMTs arrived, they physically stabilized my father, but they didn't arrive at Robbinsdale North Memorial until an hour later. He spent a few hours in the ER, before being transferred the hospital's Intensive Care Unit. Upon hearing the news, I took the first flight back home and arrived around 1 am to see my father in the company of my shaken mother and a couple family friends. I wrapped my arms around my father when I first saw him, and then cried an ocean into his chest. It was the worst day of my life. I'll never forget it Two of the three nights, I slept beside him on a six, maybe seven-foot long vinyl couch where I saw countless physicians and nurses enter and leave throughout the night. They see this so often, I'm sure: Families in pain as a loved one slowly withers away. I never saw any visiting hours posted anywhere. Even if they did exist, though, they knew that they wouldn't apply to me. I love their staff. They never complained, eye-rolled, or seem annoyed when I asked for assistance. When I did ask for extra chairs, blankets, and general assistance with my father -- they did everything I asked, too. I also saw them carefully take care of my father with respect. Every two hours they moved him, so he wouldn't develop sores from staying in one position too long. Even though he no brain activity (known following the first CT scan), they still asked him for permission. I appreciated that. After learning that my father no brain activity following the second CT scan, I spoke to one of the doctors who suggested I remove my father's off of life support. And I did. Once he passed, and the waves of crying subsumed, the head nurse at the time came over to me and handed over several viles with my dad's heartbeat printed on it. I was so touched. I know this hospital has a good number of mixed reviews, but I genuinely thought they did an outstanding job taking care of my father. A time when I felt absolutely emotional wreck, they did their best. I did think they could've done a better job with providing me more information once I arrived (like who were all the staff touching and moving my father), but I won't hold that against them. I'd recommended Robbinsdale North Memorial Hospital's ICU to anyone, but I hope you never have to experience what I did. Other tidbits: * You can buy validated parking tickets in the gift shop ($15 for five). I don't recall the rates, but it'll save you much more money. * Nothing to rave about their cafeteria. * Hospital isn't in the best neighborhood.

My elderly sister was admitted to the hospital. Even though family members left messages for the SW and medical team members, no call back was received. The patient is elderly and not giving them a correct medical history. Staff refused to listen when family tried to correct the information. My sister was discharged to an unsafe situation but the social worker who repeatedly lied about calling me (nothing in my phone call list and no voice mail messages so it either did not happen, they lied about calling, or violated HIPAA by leaving a voicemail message on the wrong number. The nurses at the desk were given the correct phone number twice after I had been told the SW and doctor wanted to talk to me. Not one time during my sisters stay did the SW or a doctor talk with me during her admission, so I do not know what they wanted to talk to me about exactly. When I visited yesterday, the charge nurse said that the SW and Dr wanted to talk to me and she messaged them to tell them I was there. I waited 3 hours. No one came to talk to me. I left my phone number when I left and said they could call anytime. They discharged her, as I said, to an unsafe situation but they did not care and did not try to learn more or find out what information that they had wrong. Tonight, after being discharged late morning, the patient experienced severe diarrhea. She did not know what to do but asked me if she could take "pink medicine" to stop it. I asked if they sent her home with meds. She said they did. Three kinds, she said. She did not know what they were or what they were for. I told her to call the hospital and ask them, but she did not know the number and could not find a number on her discharge papers. In fact, when I checked this later, there was no support number for North to call if you had concerns after being discharged. It just said call your care provider. Okay, which one? I tried to call the pharmacy to ask about immodium. Also North Memorial. They were closed. I called the main hospital number, I was transferred to the wrong unit twice and yelled at both times by different nurses for calling the wrong. I told those nurses that I had not called but been transferred to the wrong place by two incompetent operators. The continued to yell at me about it, as if patients and family members are expected to know all of the phone numbers for all of the units in the hospital. When I finally got to the correct unit, I asked the aid on the phone if she could tell me if my sister could take immodium or pepto bismal with the meds they sent her home on. She replied, "She was discharged. We no longer caring for her. Call 911 and ask them. I said, "Really?! You think I should call 911 and ask whether immodium can be taken with the drugs that I do not have information for? You think that is what 911 is for? Yes, she said, call 911 and ask them. Nice, caring staff, huh? And quite incompetent if they think that is what 911 is for. If you want incompetence, clearly in every area from phone operators to nursing staff, lies, and your information medical information being left on a wrong number voice mail, North Memorial is the hospital for you but I will never let anyone I know go to such a horrible hospital ever again. My family and I are discussing getting tattoos that say do not take to north memorial under any circumstance so that if we are rendered unconscious and in need of an ambulance we can save our lives by going to a decent hospital. I strongly recommend Unity Hospital in Fridley, an amazing hospital with great staff. I am even leaving my primary care doctor since she is affiliated with North and I am going to switch to Unity doctors. No one in my family can think of a good experience they've had at North Memorial. Neither can my friends.

All the staff was wonderful - I tend to be a little jokey/silly in these situations and they definitely lightened the conversation with me. Definitely helped me keep up my spirits since it was 8am. I was taken right away for X-rays, which took probably about 15-20 minutes. Within 5 minutes of being back, the doctor stopped in for results. I was very lucky to only have a bad bone bruise. The best part about the Dr. was that he gave me alternatives! I needed a surgical shoe and possibly crutches - but he recommended Birkenstocks being more worth my money if I would wear them since they're built the same as the shoe. He also recommended borrowing crutches from someone my height or checking goodwill before buying them from the hospital (since I wasn't sure if I would need them after a day). Overall, I was out by 9am and loved the staff. I always frequent this HealthPartners but this is the reason I always book doctors here!

About one, maybe two minutes later, a woman named Yadira (forgive my spelling, my legs were swelling at this point and it was difficult to concentrate at all.) comes in with a note. She says that my care coordinator from HealthPartners had called and said I had to either go to United in St. Paul or an urgent care in Stillwater. I live in St. Louis park, that's completely on the opposite end of the metro, and as rush hour is about to start. I explained I couldn't be turned away, I was having an allergic reaction. Even though I am on restricted insurance, law dictates that we have to be seen in the case of an emergency. So, after leaving, I get a hold of Andrew from HP, he was just as confused as I was. He didn't call. He never even called the woman. I drove halfway to St. Paul and then I realized it wasn't safe. A moment later, my primary care doc calls and says that they cannot do that legally. They filled out a referral for that facility just to satisfy their paperwork. I went back because my doctor told me to. She said in no uncertain terms, "do not go home. You're having a reaction. You need to be seen today." I check back in and express my displeasure and disappointment. I explained the situation to them and the receptionist doubled down and said they have the right to refuse service. This is the actual note she gave me before she told me I would not be seen the first time. She lied, straight up. Not only did she lie, but she thought she was more qualified to make medical decisions than a doctor. I really can't wrap my head around this. She told me she was going to call security. I don't mean to sound like some old lady clutching their pearls, but never in my life. The handwritten note and the lie are what get me. I went to the hospital down the road which is extremely stressed on resources. My reaction could have been treated and should have been, at the urgent care level. I was trying to save myself and the health care system a lot of undue harm. Not only was it illegal what she did, but it's also just plain wrong. I realize it might not even matter, but I will absolutely be submitting a formal complaint. Who passes a note like that? I wouldn't even break up with my second grade girlfriend like that. There's a base level of respect and care that I feel all peoples are entitled to, today, that mark was missed by light years. I'm not a sue happy person by any means, I think there are so many unnecessary cases that muck up the system, but what happened here today exposed her and her employer to tremendous legal liability. It's not even about that for me though. I'm just in awe is all, I've never seen someone torch their job so vigorously. After she said she was calling security, her frown turned upside down. I'm glad I could make someone's day. In conclusion, if you're having a serious health problem that could become life threatening if not treated for a time, I would avoid this place. At the end of our exchange, the receptionist said, "They don't treat anything here anyways. They basically take their vitals and that's it," she said. As if she was trying to convince me I didn't miss out on anything. I hate this. I only like writing good reviews. I need to advocate for myself and this is part of that process.

I was set up with dental services &Weigh loss management services outside of the facility .I never though I would ever be in a Nursing home facility but I was &my stay there was warming .The staff there assisted with numerous things .I advocated a lot for myself but anything I wasn't sure of was answered by the staff there .My stay there was fine but Im.glad to be back.on my own ,they also hooked me up with a relocation service It took awhile but It paid off .
