Our roofer's mother used R's Bathtub Refinishing & Custom Painting so we decided to reach out to Ryan. Quick response. Was able to schedule quickly, came early day of the appointment, meticulous work especially with his prep (drop cloths, taping everything up), and even used a commercial fan to vent the fumes out of the house. Owner did the work. Really nice guy with a more than fair price for excellent quality. Definitely will go with R's Bathtub Refinishing & Custom Painting next time we need to refinish the tub. This woman Dr Kari Moore of Sacramento Referral Center VCA who oversees all VCAs within the Hawaiian chain told me that they had to spend so much time and money to get my reviews off of their Yelp ratings as this is about Nick Lohr Construction not VCA!! I thought again, I already did a review with Yelo about Nick Lohr and his great work, maybe not,?? Our biggest disappointment was that it took almost 3 times as long for him to finish as he estimated. he estimated it would take 2 months, and it took almost 6 months. His subcontractors were not great and seemed to never show or show late. The painter he hired didn't do a good job because 2 years later the paint is starting to peel is some spots and i've noticed some uneven areas. Also, the pocket door that was supposed to be fixed never was...it comes off the tracks all the time and has big scratches in the wood from it Also, the plumbers didn't do a great job with the sink. there was a huge leak that i caught luckily-otherwise the cabinets would've had water damage. it took them awhile to come back out and fix it There was a leak when they were water testing the shower that went down into our kitchen and caused a water bubble. We popped the bubble and Nick came and fixed it but a year after, the crack came back so now we have a crack in the paint in our kitchen we'll have to get fixed. Basically we paid way too much money for our bathroom to have the problems we've had and for how long it took. He did a great job with the granite work in the shower and it looks beautiful so if you're looking for that-go for it! and who knows, maybe Nick wasn't his usual self when he re-did our bathroom but he started work in June and put the last piece of glass up in our shower in December or late Nov (can't remember). that's a long time for a bathroom. Super nice guy...takes pride in his work...but we wouldn't use him again, especially since we will have to hire a handyman to fix all the leftover problems soon as we get the place ready to rent out

To this day, months and months after we stopped working for them due to lack of prompt payment on projects, or payment at all, they still have not paid us. We consistently had to chase them for our money. Over and over and over again. We did end up finishing the plumbing on a large job that they started with us in Manoa, in which the home owner had to take over and finish on his own with the help of us subcontractors. It was definitely not ideal for him seeing that he had already paid them major money for work that was never completed, but after a certain point these poor Montage victims have no other choice other than take it on and get it done themselves. Montage continually shuffled me around between this person and that person when I would ask for payment on projects that we had already completed. I've since given up on even trying to deal with any of them. They are not professionals in the least. Bush league contractors for sure. No honor, no integrity, NONE. On top of that, they have no idea what they are doing in the field. Bunch of 2 week class certified project managers that have no idea what its like to be a real tradesmen. I just thank god we we're not deeper into any real money type projects with them because then I would have had to sick my lawyers on em. Save yourself the pain and anguish of giving someone a bunch of money for a project you may, or may not get completed. If they know they are in over their head, they'll abandon ship. If they know they are loosing money, they will abandon ship. And, for all of you would be plumbing contractors out there, hungry for a working relationship with a General Contractor. If I were you, I'd rather go surf or pass on this opportunity than take any work from these guys. It will start out ok, and then turn to total shit. I already know there is a guy that they were using after us who spoke to one of my employees, asking him if we had to chase money like he was at that time. Patterns never lie

Took days off work to be here for subs and they were no shows. Gavin will make promises, but is poor at follow up. He was quick to collect payments and then I wouldn't hear anything from him or the subs. I did hear through others that his subs were not being paid for the payments I made for their work. This as well as other things I observed and heard during the process, I would say are questionable business practices. If you want to continually follow up with him, take days off to sit home waiting for someone to show up, no responses to texts and calls, and having to call another contractor to fix the work that Montage did , then Gavin is your man.
