Back again this year. Park was still well kept and discovered a few additions: new foods, and a…read morefamily bathroom that is large enough to include a stroller. This is terrific - and saves moms from wrestling it in cramped quarters or leaving it outside while they take care of everything. Parking is good, and they let us drop off the two members of our party on crutches close to the front desk. Saved them both a lot of walking, which was very appreciated.

Wonderful baseball! Outstanding atmosphere!…read more As a former broadcaster, I've been to a lot of stadiums between New York and Texas over the past 30-some-odd years. While I've never had a bad experience at a baseball game, Forefront and the Crushers are among the standouts. The Crushers are a Frontier League team. It's independent, which means many of the players here have either never made it to the MILB, or they did and it didn't work out like they wanted. In other words, they are playing their butts off to make it to the next level. Whether it's baseball, hoops, hockey or football, players at this level tend to warm my heart and feed my appetite for excellent competition. Besides, lower level baseball is just flat-out fun. Though I always root for the home team, it was a little different this time around, as the family of Evansville's starting pitcher was sitting right next to me. His name was Ben, and I found myself cheering for him as well. He was small by MLB standards, and his pitching was a mixed bag. Still, like everyone else on the field, he was living a dream. I was certainly honored to see it. As for Forefront Field, it's small with nary a bad seat in the house. The beer selection is as good as any ballpark, and the hot dogs were divine. The mascot here, Stomper, is a real trooper. The poor dude had to be sweating his rear end off, but he still played along with the crowd. If I lived in these neck of the woods, I'd be a season ticket holder. This is wonderful family entertainment, and the baseball playing is clutch.

Okay, truth be told, I've never been a baseball fan, but the Captains make baseball more fun and…read moreengaging than I've ever seen! The stadium, located off of Rt. 91 in Lakewood, is large, well kept and has a TON of great concessions vendors, a great gift shop, and during the game, there are a variety of events, from races (of a variety of...creatures:) and raffles and games. The baseball is usually really great and you get see the farm teams of a whole variety of cities and perhaps get a glimpse of stars to come! Another great element of Captains games is THEME NIGHTS! Patty and I went to "Star Wars" night, and also got free pairs of Captains Socks! Oh, and did I mention, just about every Friday and Saturday, FIREWORKS! Parking is usually about 5 dollars, and a bridge ferries folks across 91 to the stadium, and they have closer parking for season ticket holders and special needs folks who need to park closer. So, I have to say, when it comes to baseball, my alliegence is to these Captains, now and forever:)

Nice venue for college baseball. No long lines for anything. Field & seats are in good shape…read more Place could use some maintenance & cleaning. Scoreboard was on the fritz. Bathrooms were gross right off the bat. Could use a coat of paint too. The paper towels were empty in 3rd inning. Concession prices were outlandish. Used to be they were double the convenient store price - now it's 4x the stores. $6 for a bottle of water is a crime when they are that much for a case!!

What a wonderful place to take in nine innings of marvelous AA MILB baseball!…read more This is, by no means, the most scenic ballpark in the world, but it is tight, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. You're close to the action, no matter where you are seated. We were here on "Thirsty Thursday," when hot dogs, beer and popcorn are $2. These hot dogs are much better than average ballpark fare, and the beer was Yeungling. Not bad at all! The staff here is extremely friendly, and the parking -- albeit seemingly unavailable and crowded in the streets and lots surrounding the ballpark -- was easy peasy. I've been to hundreds of baseball games across the country over the past 30 years. While I've never had a bad experience, this was one of my better ones. Go Seawolves!

I've been meaning to get to UPMC Park in Erie, PA for years and finally managed to visit recently…read more As far as AA-level stadiums go, UPMC Park feels a bit more built up (at least by comparison to others that I've visited)... a good amount of open space, a nice team store, and the field is viewable from the concourse area. I know there were some upgrades in recent years, and also that the netting was also extended (a friend of mine attended some games previously and mentioned feeling super nervous because numerous foul balls were getting hit into the stands along the base lines and there wasn't netting at the time). It doesn't have its own parking lot, but I parked in the garage nearby and it's easy to just walk across the street to the stadium. The day game that I attended had, maybe, 35-40 people in attendance... but that's pretty par for the course for a matinee game during the week, especially one at the end of April. In line with that, it's probably unsurprising that multiple concessions were closed and the in-game media and entertainment was, well, pretty lacking. That being said, there's a certain level of appreciation you can have for the game when you're watching a minor league game in a stadium like this... a kind of intimacy that you don't get when attending a game at a major league stadium. A minor league stadium worth checking out at least once.
