The focus on developing practical life skills through choice fostered a lot of independence in our child. There is a lovely outdoors area for exploring nature and they learned a lot about gardening. Our oldest started there around age 2.5 and our youngest started at 6 months, so we've had the chance to see all aspects of teaching and care at the SE location. The preschool program is excellent. Along with plenty of free play, indoors and outdoors, Childroots has the kids participate in small workshops (called ateliers) in which they explore various aspects of art, science, math and reading. Having your child come home every day and tell you about the science experiment they did or, at a young age, talk about the chapter books that were being read to them, was wonderful. One great aspect not to be ignored, is food. Kids start eating at a table with utensils and real cups once they can sit up, and then as they approach the 1 year mark, Childroots starts serving family style vegetarian meals. Our kids have always been good eaters, but it doesn't hurt when they're having quinoa, beans, rice, kale, squash, cabbage etc at school. Knowing that they were getting a healthy morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack definitely took a lot of pressure off of meal planning for us. Entrusting others with your children is never an easy process, but the quality and passion of the teachers as well as the training they receive, should give you no pause if you are thinking of sending your kids here.

As an educator myself, I deeply value the way Circle of Friends provides a strong faith-based learning environment alongside developmentally appropriate academics. I have truly watched my children flourish both academically and in their faith, building a foundation of kindness, confidence, and love for learning. I also want to thoughtfully address a comment I saw suggesting that Circle of Friends does not help shy children or assist with opening snacks. That has not been our experience at all. Snacks are passed out to the whole class, and when families choose to send a separate snack, the expectation should simply be that children can open it themselves or that the teacher is informed if help is needed (parents, this is on you). In our experience, the teachers are always attentive, kind, and more than willing to help when a child communicates a need or when parents partner with them. Every teacher we've encountered has been warm, welcoming, and genuinely invested in creating a joyful and safe environment. My children have felt loved, supported, and encouraged--especially when navigating shyness, new routines, or challenges. When my child experienced accidents due to a medical need, the staff handled it with grace and compassion. They communicated with me promptly, cared for my child with dignity, and worked collaboratively with our family to support their needs. Circle of Friends is a school built on communication, partnership, and care. Anytime we've had a question or concern, the staff has been open, constructive, and solution-focused. This is a place where children are truly known and families are respected. We are incredibly grateful to be part of a community that has meant so much to our family for generations. Our daughter is glued to the class even via zoom which still astonishes me 3 months in. The school was able to safely, efficiently, and calmly (yes legally) incorporate in person learning sessions in small groups. They are on point and have quickly and efficiently risen to the occasion of educating during the pandemic. And to my original point, they are the most affordable private school in town and we wouldn't dream of taking our daughter anywhere else.

My son went there for 2 years, GREAT EXPERIENCE!!! Mrs. McCool was AMAZING. My son loved her so much, moving on to the 4 year old class he still stopped by every day to tell her hi. Mrs waudby was also amazing as my son had a bit of a hard time going to school in his second year, she was so patient and did a great job making him feel comfortably leaving me for the school day. They are both so sweet and patient with the little ones. A lot of preschools seem to be more like daycares, but mini school is more like a classroom Setting and school time like you would have in kindergarten. They learn a lot everyday, do projects, play outside, have snack, and dance party's! It was a great way for my son to learn to be around other kids, make friends and socialize. They welcome parents to come in anytime to check in or watch what class is like, there is no hiding anything from parents which is important. I think with a combination of the two years in Mini School and keeping up the learning at home, this is why my son did so well in kindergarten and ended up Exceeding his grade level.
