The employees were all very professional and knowledgeable. They talked me through all of the issues that could be addressed to make my home more energy efficient and the steps needed to be prepared for the installation. They photographed all areas that were inspected before and after installation. They took care of all logistics and financial coordination of the program and laid it out for me in their co-construct website. They did a great job installing insulation in my basement and attic along with upgraded ducting as required. I paid half of the cost up front and the rest after completion. The whole process was relatively easy. I do wish that the co-construct website would go to a read only mode to access and review documentation, at least for a period of time after the work is complete, so I recommend downloading all materials while you have access. We did a large renovation and moved into the house in 2014…read more I really enjoyed working with his crew but I'm left feeling like a lot of corners were cut in the finish work. The met their move in expectation within 10% of the original forecast and were within a couple points of budget (although I micromanaged the budget with more granularity than they did). It was relatively smooth sailing for the first 90% of the project. By the end of the project, however, Doug and I had a very hard time seeing eye-to-eye. I was, in hindsight, likely pretty high maintenance. That being said, the small issues I was focused on have grown into larger issues. For example, the electrician was absolutely horrendous -- sloppy, inexperienced (I had to teach him how to splice Cat5 cable after Googling it myself), and just unprofessional. He used the cheapest outlets possible - many of which still don't work properly. Closet lights don't work, the electrical panel is completely mislabeled, I have no faith in Cat5 working aside from those I did and QA'ed. The painters were a point of frustration, too. They did a very rushed and messy job and the the exterior has more peeling paint and rot after 4 years than our last house did after 20+ years. Another example, we have a tile company coming this week to fix some tiles that (for the 3rd time) have fallen out and to repair grout that has already cracked and fallen out. I believe the house is generally of solid quality but the amount of work we have to put into the house has been disappointing, to say the least. In their defense, they offered to do any remaining warranty work (I had a Google Doc listing outstanding items after we had moved in) but Doug has made it pretty clear he doesn't want to work with us on any additional projects, so I'm hesitant to trust the level of craftsmanship to fix existing projects.

Lets just say I'm not a fan of chasing my contractor to find out when they will or will not show up. Especially when it is weeks of non-communication and then I have to reach out to find out where the contractor is to be told they will show up and then weeks go by again and they don't. (2) Poor workmanship on quite a few items by his crew with no project management oversight to correct issues as they arose. Only showing up when things had to be fixed and taking his crews word that items were done and done well versus seeing for himself. Interior bedroom doors put in but door jams not properly flushed (my mom and I had to fix it ourselves), windows installed so improperly that the owner himself had to come out to fix what his crew messed up, and even something as simple as caulking a bathroom tub had to be redone by the owner as the crew couldn't handle even that. (3) Incomplete projects that were partially started and then never completed to the point where after numerous excuses and being ghosted for months, I finally had to cancel the contract with this company and hire another company at increased cost just to complete the projects that this company started and never finished. This included exterior windows, exterior siding and exterior door. Portions of these incomplete (door sils, window sils and exterior siding) items were open to the elements for months during the dead of winter. Some projects I had on contract never even got started from bathroom vent and barn door installation. Overall, I would NOT recommend this company. The owner is very nice and he has one really good worker he calls "bob the builder" but overall the rest of the team seems pretty inexperienced. I would rather have a contractor that is less personable but did the job, versus one that is nice but can't execute it. The owner while very nice does not communicate well and does not conduct good project oversight management or he would have been on top of his crew when they made major errors and provided subpar workmanship.
