spent about 7-8k to have a concrete patio installed about 4 years ago. Im currently dealing with the entire top layer chipping off and looking like complete crap. when I called to have someone come look at it, they set an appt and no one showed. then when someone finally did, their only offer was to spend another 3-4k to fix it, or just put some new seal on it myself. this hurts even more because my wife and I are currently trying to sell this house. would not recommend read more

Buyer beware- I had my concrete patio and pool area resurfaced by concrete design of KC. After 1 month my entire patio area started to bubble and flake of, I called the company and they came out over one month later to try and fix the issue, with in 2 weeks, it was a disaster all over again. The owner's son Taylor, specifically told me via text that they don't "Guarantee" their work and there was nothing more that could be done. I reached out to the owner directly as this was not acceptable for paying nearly $3000 to reseal my patio and pool area. The owner, Ron, came to my house, told me he would fix it, but after texting back and forth for almost 2 months nothing has been done. I am now forced to pursue legal action. I hired a professional concrete company to avoid this exact situation which is very frustrating. I would avoid using this company due to their lack of professionalism, very poor communication and they don't stand behind their guarantee. They honestly messed up and now they don't want to take responsibility for their mess. The attached pictures speak for themselves. read more

I had an agreement with one of their workers, Phil on a start date of the 2nd week of June. I took leave from work and on the Monday of the 2nd week of June 2020, nobody showed up. I didn't receive any replies from the company either after texting and calling. I finally received a call over a week later and was told that Phil had pushed my date back. I informed them that I had no agreement and that I had to use a day of leave. Taylor finally contacted me and let me know that Phil had been let go and set up a 6 Jul 2020 date. On the 2nd day of work, one of the workers was hungover and started throwing up in a neighbors yard in front of me and the city engineer. The day after the pour, I walked along the side of the driveway and could see cracks. When I pointed them out to Taylor, he told me that it was from the sealant and that it would go away around 30 days. On the 10th of July, I sent Taylor photos of the drive way and showed him that it was cracks and it was covering around half or more of the driveway. He came out and looked at them and told me they were hairline stress fractures and that unfortunately there was nothing they could do about it and then stated it was family company and would take a big hit if they had to redo the driveway. He also stated his dad would come look at the work. He has yet to show up. He also then stated that their contract states they aren't liable for the cracks (even though they showed up while their worker was cutting it). I asked him to show me the contract because neither Phil or Taylor had me sign a contract. Taylor later came out without his father and told me that there wasn't anything that could be done and to see what it does. It's now January and the cracks are gradually getting bigger. I had another concrete worker come out to look at it and they stated that they could tell that the concrete was most likely too wet, poured too quickly and probably poured at too hot of a time. Additionally, the concrete trucks cracked parts of the cities roads and Taylor talked to the city engineer about coming back out to seal it or fix it and nobody has come out to do that either. If you are looking for professional work and good customer service, this is not the place for you. read more

This company came out to prepare to pour concrete. After seeing the plan we knew immediately it was not what we wanted or requested. We called to have this adjusted and the person we spoke with said they would be out in the morning before the concrete was poured. He never showed up and concrete was poured looking TERRIBLE. Then they sent us a bill for way more than quoted. We called saying we wanted to discuss this and we couldn't get anyone to call us back. Finally they wanted paid so they called and we expressed our concerns. They said "sorry we should have told you it would look like that" but they still wanted all their money! I on the other hand would have liked it taken out as it is such an eye sore in my back yard. Only positive is the cool stamp design that is on the top of the patio. Too bad I can't let my dog outside because the patio is so tall he can't get up or down it! Terrible customer service and terrible work that they won't take responsibility for. Would not recommend or use again!! read more

I was very happy with Concrete Design! We used them to tear out and replace our driveway. They were great to work with from start to finish. They honored a ValPak coupon with no problem and certainly did not appear to give me discounted service. Their communication was great the whole time. The owner came to my home as they were starting the work just to make sure I didn't have any questions. His team tore out a bush for me that was not part of the original bid without anything additional. It was such a relief to have that horrible bush gone and a new driveway! The teams worked quickly and efficiently, despite bad weather coming and going. I was very pleased with this company and would recommend them! read more

A friend referred my fiancee and me to Concrete Designs, so we had high hopes. First, I'll point out that I am generally happy with the work they did. They replaced our front walk and steps in a single day and damaged our lawn much less than I had expected in the process. They kept our place relatively clean and basically did what was agreed upon, though it would have been nice if they'd replaced the rails on our steps. The walk looks good and, from my very novice point of view, appears to be of good quality. Their bid was a few hundred (maybe 10%) less than the other contractors we contacted. Communication is really where things went haywire. Mine was a smaller job than they typically take on, and I was actually told in no uncertain terms that they were doing us a favor by doing the job (since we were referred to them). I must say, my fiancee and I definitely felt like an afterthought from bid to job completion. They were extremely difficult to get in touch with. Our main contact apparently got a new phone number somewhere between bidding our job and doing it (maybe 6-ish weeks), so it turns out we were calling a disused number for quite some time. Of course, that wasn't revealed to us until a few emails and phone calls later. We were trying to add a small bit to the originally bid job, and I was told that someone would either be out to bid that portion or that someone would talk with me and bid it on the day the job was being done. I happened to have a rare day off the day we were scheduled for, so either way was going to work well. Unfortunately, nobody showed up on the appointed day, and nobody returned a phone message that day, either. 5 days later, I came home from work and found that my front walk had been replaced. In short, if you use Concrete Design KC, make sure you know EXACTLY what you want before getting a bid, because you certainly can't count on talking to anyone between the bid and the job getting done. They seem to do decent work, but it'd sure be nice to actually be kept abreast of what the hell is going on with my job. Integrity goes a long way, guys! read more

We had an additional driveway added, sidewalk around to the back of the house and extended our patio from a small slab in the middle of the back door off the house to encompass the entire back of our house. They came out and set it up, poured the concrete and were done in one day. Later the next day they came and removed the forms. They cleaned up everything and checked with me throughout the day with any questions they had to make sure they were making it to our specifications; including curves to match the curves in our existing patio for asthetics. We were very satisfied and happy with their work. We will definitely recommend and reuse them if we need more concrete. read more

We thought the experience was great. The crew arrived on time and had our driveway torn out and removed by mid-morning. Gravel and rebar went in, then the concrete was poured shortly after noon. The crew worked to finish the drive in the afternoon, then they cleaned up and were gone! Loved the one day turnaround. It was clear that these guys had worked together for a while. Scope of work was complex and bad weather did not help any, but the crews got it all done the way I wanted it and within my schedule. They were on time, cleaned up after themselves and delightful to have at our home. We will definitely recommend them to family and friends. I agree with Alex T. (7/12/2014), my experience initially with Concrete Design of KC was very positive, they were highly recommended and came out, gave me a bid that I thought was very fair. My project was a really large project for them. I finally got my home improvement loan approved and notified them that I wanted them to do the work. I was promised a whole lot of things that they could and would do for me while on site, from Ron Pfannenstal (RP), digging out the trailer pad, making a road down to my pond, driveway, trailer pad, porch, sidewalks and stairs cut out of a retaining wall. I was told to continue my coordination efforts with Tim Batcheller, who kept telling me as I was confirming all the different things RP said they could do when they were on site. He kept telling me he was going to have to verify that with RP, what all I was telling him needed to be done. When I told him I wanted to do the work, he told me they were booking 3 weeks out. RP told me he was going to try to move me up on the schedule because it was such a large job. After that, all communications simply broke down, I left numerous emails, text messages and voice mail messages, but they did not respond to me. I inquired about my trailer pad - they were going to dig out a trailer pad in the side of a hill, what would keep the dirt from washing in on the pad - I required a wall - they told me they only do flat work, not walls. I then asked them how much they were taking off the estimate, if I had someone else dig out the hill and build the retaining wall. They never responded. I told them that their bid included digging out the hill pad and since I needed to have someone else do it, that they needed to take off what it was going to cost me from their bill (common sense if you ask me). Finally we were in the third week, and I got a voice mail from Ron Pfannenstal (RP) saying they were going to pass on my job. The time from the estimate, to my loan approval and their declining to do the work was 3 months. THIS IS A VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNRELIABLE COMPANY TO DEAL WITH, IN MY PERSONAL OPINION AND EXPERIENCE IN DEALING WITH THEM. THEY WOULD HAVE TO GO A LONG WAY TO REPAIR MY OPINION OF THEM.
