This used to be our fave place to go! We looked forward to it opening every year... but this year it's really gone down hill. The ice cream tastes and looks old. Sometimes it tastes freezer burned. The pop is always flat and tasteless when you order it or a float. They are always out of things so I'm not sure how the ice cream can be both a fresh delivery and taste so old. The M&Ms always look and taste old too! Like off in color and everything! The staff always act like you are putting them out when you show up. It's just terrible this year! And it's upsetting because it was so great to have a place like this in town. We may give them one more chance, but if the 3 or 4 times we have been this year are how it's going to be, I guess we will be losing our fave place. read more

What a fun little ice cream shop in downtown Crete! The soft serve tastes great and there are over a dozen flavors to choose from. The swirls are made perfectly and the topping options are so good. There are plenty of seating inside and outside. If parking gets filled in the front, there's plenty more in the back of the building. There's more than just cool treats at Cone Cottage. Food is way over priced. Can't believe people actually pay those prices. Some of the kids are nice but forgetful as I had to go back to get things that should have came with my meal. If there is a sundae you are craving and is not on the menu, let the employees know... they may just know what you are talking about. The food is delicious. I recommend the Sloppy Joe. I would have rated it higher if it wasn't for the unprofessional way the place is being run. I have lived in the area for years, and cone cottage is in walking distance from my home. Past few times going there this year, you view the teens, who are apparently running the place, arguing with each other behind the counter and playing games rather then helping the long line of people. Even when I called to asked their hours, the lady was yelling to someone on the phone, then said "hello?" I thought I called a wrong number. But it was correct. It's like they take an Oreo blizzard, put it into a cone and dip into a thin chocolate sauce. Delicious. Unfortunately, the food simply was not food. All I got was the hot dog and fries and another person I was with got the sloppy Joe...these were not good. They have ample seating indoors and some outside. They have blasters, banana splits and even things that are special to cone cottage like elephant poop or the garbage can!
