Warriors, come out to play-ay !!! Walking by I had to check out this beach shop after seeing the Warriors banner hanging over the merchandise display. If you know the movie you know the famous line, and that they were the local gang fighting their way to their home turf. This shop had different shirts, items, and beach towels based on the movie for sale. Of course, its basically a shop aimed at tourists with all types of shirts, hoodies, and clothes emblazoned with everything Coney Island related - Nathans, Brooklyn - and priced as such, a bit high. Run don't walk away from this place! I tried to buy a hat. The grumpy sales lady told me that my card wasn't working although the machine said Approved. She acted as if it was my fault and I tried again on another card reader. I left without the hat. When I got home I saw they had charged my card four times for a hat I didn't buy. Something is very suspicious about this shop. They offer online ordering. I ordered items, and my card was charged, but I never received the items. When I contacted them, they acted like they did not know what I was talking about and could not track the order even though I sent them the e-mail. I eventually got credit, but I was not sure it would happen. read more

Ehhhhh....It's not the Surf Shop. You can definitely tell this place is new-ish. It's clean and sparkly and just shouts, "HI! COME VISIT ME!". The prices are a bit high, hence me not buying anything. Overall, it's a good place to visit if you need a postcard or a t-shirt but I would still stick with the Surf Shop. read more

I went in looking for a Warriors T-Shirt and luckily they had quite the selection of Warriors ash trays, shirts, sweaters, etc. The prices were a touch high for me, but the selection was good for all the beach apparel. You could do worse while looking for a souvenir shop in Coney. read more

I was at Coney Island yesterday and I saw this store and realized I had never written a review for an experience around Christmas. I was doing some last minute on-line Christmas shopping and came across this website when looking for souvenirs for the New York Aquarium. I tried to place an order on-line (12/23) for the Cyclone T-shirt and cap combo but the website wasn't responding, I called the number from the website and talked to the owner of the store. I placed my order but he said it wouldn't be processed until Monday. I said it was fine because it didn't need to be there Christmas Day. I called back on the Monday and was told that the order went out, which it did. I didn't even have to go into detail about what I ordered, just explaining that I tried to place the order the 23rd and he knew exactly who I was. I love this store! I wanted to get a beach chair the other day and figured it would be too expensive going to a beach store by the boardwalk so I went to Target first. Almost everything was sold out, it was hard getting any service, and what they did have was expensive anyway. I decided to just go to my standby, Coney Island Beach Shop. Not only did they have a huge selection in stock at great prices but one of the guys who worked there helped me out without me even asking him to and went in the back to find more stock to get me a chair with more manly colors. As always they take credit cards and being right by Nathan's and the Subway it's the easiest location in Coney Island to get to. The also have the best selection of Coney Island shirts and souvenirs, unfortunately they aren't the best quality, mine only looked decent through a couple washes. read more

The staff here were so surly it was almost comical--I'm not sure I've experienced anything quite like this in Brooklyn. There were several silent employees roaming around the store, apparently doing nothing except occasionally shooting hostile glances at shoppers. Look, I've worked retail in Coney myself (in a place that didn't have a/c, no less) so I get that it's not exactly a thrill a minute to be on the service side of things, but whoa, it's like the people who work at the beach shop don't want you to actually shop. Which is a shame, because some of the shirt designs are pretty cute, hence the two stars instead of one. read more

Nice selection of beach items if you come to Coney Island unprepared. Sandals, bikinis, shorts, etc. Really nice selection of vintage looking Coney Island logo t-shirts. Decent prices for the vintage look and feel. I appreciate that it's a very clean establishment on the boardwalk there. read more

I ordered a jacket from their website. There was a mix up and I received the wrong jacket. I emailed the store about the mix up and right away they responded to help. Turns out the company who used to make the jacket stopped so they didn't have the one I wanted, but they were very helpful in trying to find the jacket and make sure I was happy. When they couldn't they fully refunded me, including the shipping to ship the wrong jacket back. Even though they didn't have the jacket I wanted I am super happy with them for helping me out and having excellent customer service. Thank you guys! read more

Terrible service. Unfortunately, the store personnel dont think that customers are important to their business. No smile, no greeting, no help, no personality, no customer service. Save your money and buy your souvenirs from some other shop. Others in the subway station or on the boardwalk offer a cleaner environment to spend your dollars and offer help and better customer service. So much for family owned businesses. This place is horrible !!! I went with my newborn daughter & i wasn't allowed passed the doors because i had a stroller. The store was empty, so i really don't understand why i wasn't allowed in with the stroller. There were 3 womens inside the entire store. No fitting room, so I put a sweatshirt on and asked my friend to take a photo so I could see what it looked like and two people came at me from different directions yelling angrily that we can't take photos in the store.... So yeah, not cool. I also tried looking at the difference between a medium and a large shirt as they were all folded on a table and they got upset that I unfolded them to look. How on earth can they expect anyone to buy something without unfolding it to see if it fits!?!?!? I know it's not Barney's, but YOU COULD AT LEAST BE NICE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS! Complete JERKS run this place! And that's putting it politely. My boyfriend and I (both mid-30's) entered once with ice cream just to check a price on a sign (did not even go close to or touch merchandise) and we were asked to leave (and not on a polite way). I told myself I would go back ONLY because they charged 1/2 the price for the t-shirt I wanted. I noticed the screen print was off-centered on the front of the shirts, so I looked to find a "good" one in the pile (not even unfolding them). The guy at the door said, "Lady, lady you can't do that!!" And the guy at the counter said, "Lady, they are ALL the same. You can't do that! They are ALL large!" I wanted to walk out so badly, and not give them a penny. Avoid this place, please! If they treat paying customers this way, you should not support them. I am not happy, they ruined my day (and got money out of me). I will never be back! read more

I was yelled at then tossed out by some A-hole yelling get him the fuck out because I took a pic of the t-shirt, of which I was doing to get my nephews sizing info to purchase even though it was overpriced. I will never step foot into this place again, I recommend you do not as well especially if your out enjoying Coney Island and all the good it has to offer. I hope this business fails just like their customer service. I am retail professional executive & I know the customer comes comes first which is retail 101, the guy didn't much sound like he had a high school degree to get that far into business yet we all know it happens. Its a nice place with a decent selection. You can find some cyclone (roller coaster not the baseball team) or Steeplechase shirts. Only complaint I have is, I wanted to buy a bunch (12) of Coney Island Coffee Mugs to give as gifts to a few friends who love Old CI as much as I do. The coffee mugs were priced at $9.95 each. I politely asked if i could get a discount for a purchase of 12 mugs. The gentleman at the register (looked like the owner) merely shook his head no. I found that somewhat unfriendly. End result: no purchase. $120 + tax was not gonna happen. read more

On the 5/26/14, I went to the beach with my friends but I ruined my swim wear so I needed to buy a bikini bottom. Being a teenage girl I don't have a lot of money to just spend and I only had a 40. I found a pair of bikini bottoms and asked the cashier if they could do a credit card purchase over the phone. They rudley told me no. My mom got on the phone with me and asked if she can speak with them. I no longer wanted to do the over the phone purchase thing with them, I just wanted help! I tired to give the man my phone and before I could explain myself he said no we don't do that kind of stuff here. He didn't let me finish my sentence and was really rude. Then my mom tired to call the store. When the phone rang the same man looked right at me knowing that It must have been my mother on the phone. He simply ignored it and moved on. I know this is a family owned business but that doesn't mean they were nice! Just they way that they carried on made them seem very rude. I was trying to be as nice as possible and yet they just treated me like trash. Im glad that I didn't buy that bikini bottom from them! $30 down the drain for them. I was able to find another beach shop where the people were much nicer- I even got a discount and didn't have to pay tax from the other store!. This "family owned" store could learn a few things from the other beach shop! read more
