The Covenant Funeral Services Fredericksburg, VA, has got to be one of the greediest and most heartless companies I have ever run across. When a family is at their most vulnerable and when they need the understanding of others, these vultures put greed above caring. They offered no alternatives except that she have the entire fee paid in advance, even given the low income package with no viewing only a burial service they expect her to come up with $6500 plus $1200 opening fees in 3 days, Monday afternoon to Friday morning. Then if it is not paid in full they will just put her in the freezer for a recurring fee till everything is paid. This is just heartless and I don't fall for the we get burnt on no pays, they have the same legal recourse I have on a heat pump installation. I have found most people will pay even if it is slow. Most businesses don't even get a deposit before work is complete. Seems to me there is a contradiction in terms with the $7700, paid in full in basically 3 days and "low income package." Hard for me and most of the people I know to swing that kind of money in 3 days in this economy. Just a damn shame that you have to be put through this kind of abuse when you lose a loved one.

This was due to the fact of our father (87 yrs. old) and our Aunt (89 yrs. old) had a very difficult time walking to the burial site. There was an obvious dirt roadway to drive on, my brother asked permission from the funeral home if he could bring his vehicle closer to the burial site, they said of course, no problem. There were no markers on the ground, the female employee from Sunset was so unprofessional and out of place. Be rest assured my brother and I will not have any of our immediate relatives near Sunset. And I will tell everyone else to stay away. No respect at all.

We went to the cemetery for Mother's Day 2026 and to our surprise no gravestone. After contacting Sunset the Monday after, I was told that it would be installed Tuesday and Cathy would send a picture after installation. No explanation about what happened. Was it placed in the wrong site, was it sitting in a shed for months, who knows? No apology, no explanation and still no picture. I requested Edward Smith's email to contact him but, didn't receive it. My only choice is to let other people know that the disregard and disrespect is astonishing. All involved should be ashamed, I know that I would be. Sunset Memorial Gardens DO BETTER!

She guided us through one of the most difficult experiences of our lives. She and her staff went above and beyond our wildest dreams to give our family a moment that was so easy and memorable. Everything was perfect. EVERY LAST DETAIL. But what really stood out was that she cared. Although she felt truly sorry for our loss, she did not pity us. She felt us. Grieved with us. Cared for us. Became one of us. That's a debt we can never repay. We can, however, genuinely endorse them to anyone who must deal with the tragedy of losing a loved one. My family has unfortunately dealt with several losses recently. No other company compared to the love we felt from Agape. Reach out to them if you need help. They are great.
