Absolutely unprofessional female employee who yelled at my brother during a family graveside service. This was due to the fact of our father (87 yrs. old) and our Aunt (89 yrs. old) had a very difficult time walking to the burial site. There was an obvious dirt roadway to drive on, my brother asked permission from the funeral home if he could bring his vehicle closer to the burial site, they said of course, no problem. There were no markers on the ground, the female employee from Sunset was so unprofessional and out of place. Be rest assured my brother and I will not have any of our immediate relatives near Sunset. And I will tell everyone else to stay away. No respect at all. read more

My siblings and I ordered our parents gravestone in October 2025. We were told that it will take 6 to 8 weeks for delivery. We went to the cemetery for Mother's Day 2026 and to our surprise no gravestone. After contacting Sunset the Monday after, I was told that it would be installed Tuesday and Cathy would send a picture after installation. No explanation about what happened. Was it placed in the wrong site, was it sitting in a shed for months, who knows? No apology, no explanation and still no picture. I requested Edward Smith's email to contact him but, didn't receive it. My only choice is to let other people know that the disregard and disrespect is astonishing. I just buried my mom here and we went with Sunset. Toy is very pleasant to deal with and it is very limited in getting burial time to have a service but they have been working to make this cemetery better. I hope it continues to get better. The prices are outrageous but it has to be done. I will continue to watch to see if they continue to improve. read more

My son's. Friends just went to visit him at sunset.. Just to find out his grave site is missing everything I mean everything nothing but the ground. Even the national flag the flag with a bible verse the chime all the painted rocks his niece & nephew left. Been there since Jan 2018.. Bout 4 months ago they removed the vase and temp.name plate I was told they needed it for another family.. for real... But as soon as I can get a hold of someone I want to know where our stuff went. some of the items can not be replaced..My parents are there too and everythimg is gone its so sad. And with a STAY at home policy in effect they would do this. Really sad that somebody would do this .without a reason. read more

Our family tragically lost our son. With the generosity of one special person, a lot was donated to us for him. I saw reviews on here and I won't lie, I was scared. But the day we went there, I saw that anyone can make a place look bad by their words. When we drove in, we knew those posts were wrong. Of course it's not a place I wanted to be but I knew it looked lovely for anyones loved one. We got to the office and everyone was very nice. We've had nothing but great service here. At the service we learned that one of his friends actually works there, and all his friends live near by. I know our son will be taken care of. And I'm very satisfied with everything. read more

I am waiting to see what new management does ** SINCE LAUREL HILL FUNERAL SERVICES WONT ALLOW THIS POST I WILL SHARE HERE*** IF I COULD GIVE THEM A ZERO I WOULD For over a week now this mess has been laying in Sunset Memorial Gardens. I spoke to office staff and showed pictures and was ASSURED by office staff it would be taken care if immediately (Monday, Nov. 25th). Today stop back by to see the same mess. Old dead flowers, faded flowers blown all over cemetery, grave markers laying randomly in cemetery no where near persons site, a concrete pipe laying in the ground, trash along ditches and under trees. I have NEVER seen a cemetery so ill kept. You pay a fortune for plot and services only to have your loved ones final resting place to be treated as an abandoned dump site. In the summer what should be grass is nothing but patches of dirt and mass of weeds to give the illusion of grass. This isnt new either. When my grandmother passed 8 years ago her head stone laid 20 feet off to the side for 3 weeks, the dirt sunk into the shape of her coffin and the constant state of debris and trash is not only heartbreaking but infuriating. A person grieving the loss of a loved one should not have to have endless drop ins to check the state of the grounds and confrontations with staff. I walked the 15 to 20 pound concrete block and pipe over 500ft with the intention of putting inside their office to be met with a woman coming out the door to put in the trash. She is lucky she ran out the door and met me in the parking lot This company would be the last place I would intrust the care of my loved ones for their final resting place. I tried so hard to get my grandparents to sell and buy new plots in a different cemetery but they had other family members there and wanted to keep the plan. It is too late for us, hoping this helps someone make a better decision! read more

My husband and I have experienced by far, the WORST customer service -- in the history of every business we've ever worked with -- at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Giving them 1 star is far too much, in my opinion. In the middle of grieving the fact that we had to find a local cemetery to bury our beloved dog (whom was like a child to us) is when we first had to started dealing with Sunset. Back in March of 2013, we had yet not decided whether or not cremation was something we wanted, so thus I began my search for a local cemetery. I chose Sunset because they were one of the only in the area (at least at the time) who had a section of the cemetery devoted to animals, hence the reason they were selected. Since March of 2013, we've since purchased additional plots in preparation of losing our other dogs and we've been forced to continue to deal with them as others have passed on. April of 2014 is when things really started to become awful with Sunset Memorial. We lost our sweet boy J and we wanted J's marker, granite slab, and vase to match D's (our first dog that we had buried there) exactly. This was incredibly important to us for a few reasons: 1) We don't have kids, our dogs are our children, 2) Memorializing them with matching markers was crucial for us and we made this VERY clear, and 3) We wanted all of our babies to be together and a safe space we could visit to pay tribute to them. Sunset's main office was made very aware of the importance this and they always "claim" to understand. Long story short, they messed up J's marker and we had to have it redone THREE TIMES over the span of a year or so. Not only is this ridiculously frustrating and far too long, it was a time of tremendous grief for us. We were constantly having to be reminded of not only their total lack of respect and incompetence, but more importantly, we were forced to have to be reminded of his death and burying him rather than being able to cope with our feelings of loss. It took far too long to get his marker right and the process to do so was so agonizingly frustrating; my husband and I both were going back from feelings of anger and irritation to feeling like we were on some prank show and it was all a sick joke. The bottom line = this was a horrible and hair-pulling experience for us. Since J's loss, we also lost our dog A in November of 2017 and reluctantly, we started this same process over again and delayed it as much as possible because of our previous frustrations with Sunset. We ordered her marker in late October 2018, almost a YEAR later. When we finally placed the order for her marker, we found that Sunset had changed management since J and D were buried, so I had a glimmer of hope that the new management would be better than the original. Somehow... to our surprise, they managed to keep up to par with the former employees. I am now writing this on August 8, 2019 -- TEN MONTHS after we ordered her marker. I bet you can imagine the result -- yep, it is STILL incorrect. Not only was the original wrong marker WEEKS late (they claimed 6-8 weeks and it took more like 10 or 12 to get the original, and that's with me calling and badgering them about it several times). But even since the original marker was created and requested to be redone, it's still wrong and they still won't call us back. Granted, I do NOT spend every day of every week contacting them this past ten months (but should I have to?!) as it would drain my emotions in full. But we have gone in there physically and notified them countless times of our frustrations, have blown up their phones throughout 2018 and this year, and each time they are incredibly calm and seemingly understand and claim to follow up/call us back immediately as they will 'personally follow up' themselves since it is 'unacceptable', claim email us proof of whatever they have laid down -- all of these things are empty promises. Nothing ever changes as soon as we step out of their door or hang up the phone with them. I've only had ONE employee there (a fairly young girl, unsure of her name) call me back when she claimed she will, and the others never have. Yet we are still waiting on her marker to match theirs, which shouldn't be a difficult task but somehow it seems like an impossible request to receive. I am appalled at how inconsiderate and incapable they are with dealing with people's -- note also PAYING customers' -- feelings. If I didn't feel it would be completely disrespectful and traumatizing to our deceased babies to dig their caskets up and bury them elsewhere, I would have LONG ago. I can't help but think that this level of disrespect is simply because they are non-human animals. I imagine that if humans were treated this way, there would have been a lawsuit long ago. My husband and I are both are exhausted and drained with dealing with this incompetent and disrespectful company. We just want our voices to be heard and for this wrong to be made right. read more

Our Mom passed away in May, Many thanks to Toy and the ground workers of Sunset who made it possible for us to have a timely, intimate family service during the midst of the pandemic. Toy was there (in the background) during our service to make sure everything went as scheduled. I have talked to Toy and Jen (as well as the administrative assistant) on several occasions with follow-up questions and everyone has been very helpful. My father passed away in 1986 so I have been visiting Sunset for many years. Within the last year I have seen a vast improvement in the overall appearance of the grounds. It was also nice to see new sod being laid throughout where needed. Thank you! read more

I am still much too angry to speak with anyone. i am afraid i will say things that i will later regret and you will probably just repeat that it's not Sunsets fault, its all stated in the flower policy. As earlier stated, the flowers off my mothers grave were STOLEN during your so called cleanup. They were in the vase, new and seasonally appropriate. I am not the only one complaining, there are hundreds of complaints on facebook and an article in the Free Lance Star about Sunsets cruel acts. You cannot replace the flowers that i personally picked and placed mementos in the flowers. They are not replaceable. Why Sunset can't admit that you screwed up and issue an apology to all clients that were violated. I would also like a guarantee that Sunset will keep their hands off flowers in the vase. I wish i never had to deal with Sunset again, but that's not possible. read more

Wow. Just wow. I had a family member pass away last week and at his service Sunset set out a list for us to add our names to for a complimentary bookmark in memory of my family member. Of course I added my name as well as my husband and children's names to receive the bookmark. When my husband and I went in to pick up the bookmarks this is where things went south. First off, a family planning services were in a room and they had the door open so we could hear their business which I felt was very sad as they should have their privacy during such a delicate moment. Then we were brought into a private room where a family counselor gave us a very tacky sales pitch. She was using our grief as a scare tactic to get us to purchase services for ourselves in preparation for our deaths. She kept talking about my husband's future death and even gave scenarios but made sure to "knock on wood" as if that would make it any better. I was so appalled and just shocked that they would basically hold the bookmarks hostage until we listened to an hour long speech about how we should prepare for our death because of our children. She even told us the family next door's business to better her sales pitch and said that the plots go up ten percent each year so we better act now. It was so tacky and honestly angered me. Here I am just buried my uncle and now you are going to try to scare me with scenarios where my husband dies and I'm alone!? That was just wrong and rude. If they wanted to inform people, a simple letter along with the death services packet would have been fine. But what they did was far beyond that and they are responsible for making sure to treat families with care during that delicate moment of grief and they completely abused it. Based on this cheap attempt to make a sale at the expense of grieving families, I will never use them for myself or my husband, even though the rest of my family is buried there. It is clear to me that they are not caretakers of the deceased, but a money market for the grieving family. read more

My opinion from my experience with this business is to stay away if you can. Nice and syrupy sweet before the sale, but after the $$$ is paid... nothing but excuses when you need the services that you paid a lot of money for arises. read more

I just want to say our family absolutely loves this place and the people that work here. What a great place to lay your loved one to rest. Toy has been amazing since day one and I cherish all the hard work she does here at this cemetery. Thank you so much for everything and making life just that much easier for our family.
