We've been dealing with Confer's Jewelers for more than 15 years now, and we've never had a bad experience with them. We're from out-of-state but visit relatives in Bellefonte a few times a year, and we always stop in at Confer's while we're there. It's not like we don't have a million jewelry stores where we live and can shop at--it's that at Confer's we feel comfortable, welcomed, valued, and, most importantly, we trust them--I can't stress how important this is when dealing with a jeweler. We've never made a purchase at Confer's that we've regretted--the selection is very impressive and extensive, and the prices are competitive and reasonable for the quality that you're getting. We've never felt pressured or hurried, and Monteca and Brenda always remember the kinds of jewelry that we like and offer suggestions that are always on-the-mark for our tastes, so we don't waste a lot of time just browsing. My wife and I recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary, and Monteca contacted me by email to offer suggestions for a present, and yet again she came up with a winner--a custom-made ring that my wife absolutely loves. Monteca sent me choices for settings by email so I was able to find the perfect one, which she special ordered for me, and I had the ring on my wife's finger in only about 2 weeks time. Monteca gave me a great price on the ring and entire experience was smooth and easy. This place is so amazing. I've gained some weight and haven't been able to wear my engagement ring for the last year. I've been nervous to get it resized anywhere because I don't really know any jewelers around the area and my ring was bought at Brilliant Earth. After readings lots of Yelp and google reviews I decided to go with Confer's. Wow they did such an amazing job. My ring is platinum and it was waaay cheaper than I thought it was going to be. They do resizing in house so you don't have to worry about it being sent off somewhere and who knows what happening to it. They quoted 6 weeks but it was ready in five days!!! I used Confer's for jewelry repair, and they did such a nice job! For my wedding, I borrowed a bracelet from my grandmother that was more than 50 years old. She had stopped wearing I because the clasp didn't work correctly, and it didn't fit her wrist anymore. I took it into Confer's and asked if they could replace it with something new but appropriate, and they were able to do so quickly and with no problems whatsoever. I appreciated the great care they took with the bracelet - it's got tremendous sentimental value - and that the work was done quickly, and the cost was clean (and reasonable) upfront. read more

From NY, new-ish to the area. First time dealing with Confers. I've read the only two other reviews (at the time) and now here's our story. Stopped in looking for a local place we could trust and have a stone replaced. We were greeted with professionalism and respect and we were given a quote promptly with no pressure. Started looking around (small place) and decided to go in another direction. Same store, same salesperson, just thought we should do something a little bit different. She (owner) stayed with us and helped us for 2 hours. In the end, we selected a new piece using some of our own stones. Promise date was 4 weeks. I called just prior to week 4, not ready but they offered to have it ready if I wanted to use a set up, which the jeweler was not necessarily recommending. Not sacrificing for Quality, we elected to wait and trust the experience and knowledge of the jeweler (also the owner). We are very glad we did. The piece was exceptional and we really couldn't be happier. Priced as expected, service was excellent, Quality was top notch. And, a few days later, a hand written note thanking us for everything. Nice touch folks. Nice people, nice place. No complaints. We'll be back. So, why not 5 stars you ask? It takes more than one visit to get that one read more

Was surprised to see the other less favorable reviews as I had a fantastic experience with Confer's Jewelers. I worked with them on a custom order engagement ring, and I was very happy with the whole experience. Compared to other jewelers (in the area), they made me feel very welcome and appreciated. I also appreciated that they didn't call me to follow up on my first visit - I think I spent about 2 weeks getting constant phone calls from other jewelers hoping to follow-up on my visit, which was not something I wanted. Several other jewelers didn't seem to be willing to invest nearly the same amount of time and effort with me in person (though they were more than happy to call me afterwards). Ultimately, the personal service and feel that I got from several visits won me over. I felt good about my purchase because we took the time to really get it right instead of rushing to get to the sale. My order came in on time, and there were no issues with payment/financing/availability. I would highly recommend Confer's. read more

I've always loved Confer's so maybe I just have a bias. I just remember going there as a kid with my mom and being welcomed by friendly workers. So naturally, when my ring from Macy's was too big, I went to Confer's for guidance. They were incredibly friendly (as I remembered) and sold me an alternative to getting my silver ring resized (saved me a TON of money). I am extremely upset with the services at this jeweler. I came in and bought an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I was making payments on it and waiting for it to be sized to her finger when they called her and left a voicemail telling her that her ring was ready. There was even a note specifically on the account to NOT call her. Of course, she had no idea what they were talking about because it was supposed to be her engagement ring. She then called back and asked about it saying she didn't have a ring. They then told her about the ring! They completely ruined one of the biggest and most important moments of our lives. When I asked for a refund of what I paid because I was so upset, they refused to return any of the money I had paid for it. They told me that it was custom ordered, even though they were only putting a diamond it and ordering the ring in her size. I was absolutely appalled. I had the most wonderful experience when i went to confers Jewelers last weekend. I had a very sentimental piece of jelewry that needed repaired and I thought it was ruined. To my surprise the jeweler repairedit as good as new, they cleaned it along with my other jewelry and the price was fantastic. They are a hidden gem. Confer's must have problems with special orders. I ordered a different size bracelet per the salesperson's advice. The new bracelet cost more than the one I was considering in the store due to new pricing. The new one arrived and didn't fit so I took the store display one that I'd previously been told was less expensive. When I requested the difference in the price I'd already paid I was asked if the time the staff spent trying to make it fit wasn't worth the difference in price. Then I was asked did I really want money back in a sarcastic manner. I said no and left the store forever. read more

Every single experience has been nothing short of personal, professional and satisfactory. Not only was the purchasing experience a great one, but I have taken my jewelry in for the last 6 years, and my mother's and step-father's for the last 11 years and our jewelry's quality shows as there have been no problems. My sister introduced me to Confer's. She has a lot of lovely jewelry and is more than happy to bring any repair/modification requests to this wonderful jeweler. From Pittsburgh! You are warmly greeted when you walk through the door and offered a beverage and ring cleaning. They have a beautiful selection, something for every price range. I was accompanying my sister in April when we had met in State College for a getaway and was not really intending to purchase anything, but Sue showed me a lovely band ring engraved with evergreen trees and it was meant to be. She was so very helpful and easy to work with. While cleaning my rings they found several loose channel set stones in the one and suggested repair. The new ring and the repaired one were mailed to me. The new one is awesome, but the repaired one took my breath away. It looks newer than the day I bought it with small and brilliant stones in a beautifully polished white gold band. I can not recommend highly enough! read more

I've dealt with Confer's a number of times both for repairs and purchases. There service is always prompt and professional. They made repairs to several rings, changed the size of a ring, and repaired two bracelets. All these were done quickly and perfectly. I've purchased many pieces of jewelry from them and the service they've given is outstanding. They seem to remember everything I tell them because they make suggestions that really fit my style and preferences. The women who work there are very kind and friendly.
