After learning that our son was not being treated with the correct level of care at another local daycare, we moved him to Grace Covenant when he was about 4 months old. I immediately felt welcome by everyone there. The staff were smart, articulate and loving. My mama's instinct said this was the place, and it was absolutely true. Ms. Wilma and Ms. Julia are my son's primary daycare providers, and I have never met sweeter ladies. My son smiles each morning when he sees Ms. Wilma (he's not a big smiler) and I know that he loves her like a grandma! They are so good to my son, and never make me feel like a "stupid first time mom" or that I'm overbearing for asking too many questions, like the last daycare had me believing. They keep me informed on everything going on, good or bad, and ask lots of questions to make sure they are up to date on his progress. My other daycare did none of this. I also love that many of the helpers are students at VCU. They are smart, driven and love the kids very much. At my last daycare, you weren't exactly dealing with the cream of the crop for these positions. I would rather have a smart and driven young woman watching my son, even if they don't plan on staying long term, than a lot of the duds that we had at the first daycare with lots of experience. I know as a mom it's hard to figure out who you can trust with your baby. The best advice I would give is listen to your mama instinct. Talk to the teachers, and make sure they feel passionate about the job they are doing. Grace Covenant checked all the boxes for me.

Then we ended up at Our Lady of Lourdes a couple of times because they offer Sunday afternoon and evening (Spanish) Masses and we were getting back midday from out of town. Both the pastor and the parochial vicar are great homilists, funny, and very personable. The parishioners are welcoming too! We returned for a Sunday morning Mass (in English) and met the music minister this time. She is so friendly and got us connected right away to the ensembles we were interested in joining. Even though OLL is farther away from our house, it is worth the drive for the community.

There are many synagogues around the USA with the name "Beth-El," but Temple Beth-El in Richmond did not have a Rabbi named Katz or his wife, Molly! The only photo which is remotely correct is that of the sanctuary, before the new seating arrangement! Also, Beth Torah is now Kol Emes.
