I highly recommend coming to Sinai during the high holidays and even during a weekly Shabbat. Our Rabbi is incredibly knowledgable and gives some of the best insights into being a Jew in the modern world. I feel fortunate to be able to attend services and kiddish lunches with family and friends at such a welcoming house of worship.

Rabbi Daniel Pressman is extremely kind. Growing up in an interfaith family, I found it a bit of a challenge attending service here because the holy books are mostly in Hebrew and I was used the the holy books in the reform temples/synagogues that had the English translations. I've had the pleasure of attending Shabbat Services and dinners at Congregation Beth David. If you're of the Conservative Jewish faith this is a great place to attend services.

In particular, the religious school, pre-K and family ed programs have all improved so much over the last decade that I now feel comfortable giving them a strong endorsement to friends who ask. Another thing that I really like about Beth David is that the Rabbis, the Board and (most of) the congregation make a real effort to try to live their values. This is a place where being a good person counts more than how much money you make or how you dress. These are people that I feel I can turn to in a crisis (or simcha) and get genuine support.

The only downside of Am Echad is that there is no eruv as of yet, but home prices are cheapest in this part of the bay ranging from 600-900k as opposed to the million dollar pieces of crap they try to sell you in the rather ugly "sister" community in Palo Alto.

The teachers put a great emphasis on helping the kids learn to communicate kindly with each other while also maintaining their personal boundaries. Every day when my daughter walked into her classroom, her teachers made her feel special and wanted there, and she was always happy to go to school. I've been happy with the diversity of the students and teachers at the school as well. While the school does celebrate Shabbat with the kids by making challah each Friday in the classrooms and observes Jewish holidays, there are plenty of families and teachers at the preschool who don't observe these customs at home, and that only adds to the richness of the community.
