My wife and I came across Connect Electric not through a referral, but just by searching through Yelp. What a good call on using this company. We initially met Steve to go over changes we wanted for our recently purchased co-op apartment. We had a lot of work done right off the bat. Steve installed recessed lights in the kitchen, living room and master bedroom. We also had him replace the breaker box and install a small chandelier in the dining room. It was a lot of work and it went perfect. Of all the contractors we had in our apartment, Steve's work was the best, by far. When we had the recessed lights installed, Steve worked with me when I suggested going with Smart Lighting. He pointed out some helpful ideas. Some I followed and some I did not. Guess what? The ones I didn't follow I later came to regret and had to change a couple of switches I had installed. I should have listened to him the first time! :-) We've had Steve come in twice more after that initial work. The second time was for some bathroom lighting fixtures and the third was to install under cabinet lighting in the Kitchen. Once again, me being the "bright" guy, I go and purchase the units I wanted installed in the kitchen because they had the features I wanted and were on sale at Lowe's. Guess what!?! Wrong units. Oh joy. :-( But it still wasn't a problem for Steve. He went out, found better units than I had purchased, at a lower cost, and installed them all in the same day. Wife was VERY pleased. Think I'll be using Connect Electric again? Safe bet. Steve's a total professional and a damn nice guy on top of that. I'd recommend him and Connect Electric in a heartbeat. read more

I initially called Steve to restore my kitchen lights, he very thoroughly checked everything before making a diagnosis of the problem. He couldn't install any lights because I needed new ones which he was great about coming back to install. I am very picky and the ones I picked were too bright, I exchanged them and Steve came back to put those in. I wanted to also out replace lights in my bedroom. I ended up changing my mind on the first ones I picked and we had to change appointments. Steve was extremely patient and when he came back he let me know that the lights I picked actually created more work for me. (I would have had to patch holes in the ceiling) He thoughtfully went to Home Depot and brought me two styles of lights-one of which involved little to no patching. I emailed Steve for an estimate to remove a light/fan and replace it with large flushmount LED fixture. Less then an hour later, I got a callback from him with a fair estimate. He was available to do the work the next day (Saturday) and showed up at 810am, exactly when he said he would. He finished the work quickly and efficiently, cleaning up after himself and not requiring any hand holding. It is always great to work with a professional and I know I will be calling him again for more work around the house. Highly recommended!!! Update on 6/18/16: I had Steve come back in to replace an old thermostat with a new programmable thermostat and also to install a new combo fan/light in the dining room area. No one else came close in terms of taking the time to explain the work to us and giving us various options. He prepared a detailed estimate the next day and when we hired him, he stuck to it scrupulously. His work is top-notch and he is remarkably conscientious. For example, he installed two sconces on our stone fireplace. They looked good to me, but he insisted they would look better with mortar, so at no extra charge to us, he bought mortar and carefully filled in the gaps. I needed a 240V outlet installed in my home for a dryer unit I planned to purchase. I submitted a request for quotes electronically via the better business bureau & home advisor providing details of the project. I immediately received a few calls from electricians showing interest in taking on the job yet none of them would give me a quote unless they made a visit to my home to see what physically had to be done. I found it strange because I gave them the basic info. needed regarding the panel location + location of where I'd prefer the outlet which I felt would make it easy to give an estimate. But they were hesitant. So I had one of these guys come over to take a look where he then gave an estimate which I felt was way overpriced. That's when I searched yelp & saw Connect Electric's reviews. I called Steve & he gave me a quote (OVER THE PHONE) based on the information I provided which was half of what the other guy quoted. He said a visit would be required to give an exact price but assured me that I was looking @ the price he quoted over the phone give or take a few bucks. He made the visit, assessed the project & gave me the exact price which was $25 more than the estimate due to the labor involved. I hired him on the spot. He showed up the next day on time. (When he says he's going to be a your place @ 9:00AM, he actually means it). He came in, went to work, kept me updated on the progress while explaining things as he went along. As he's working on the line connection he asks me what my plans were for ventilation. I hadn't even considered this prior to him mentioning it. He offered solutions where he later made a run to home depot to grab materials to install a ventilation system @ a very reasonable price. He completed the job, cleaned up his work area to the point where you couldn't even tell that someone was there all day drilling, taking things apart & wiring lines throughout the place. He sent me a receipt & warranty on the project the next morning ensuring me that if anything went wrong he'd come back to resolve it free of charge! He contacted me days later to check in on the installation of the dryer itself which I told him was successful. The overall experience with Connect Electric has been amazing & i'm glad that I was able to use their services. I plan on hiring Steve & co. in the future as I'll have more projects to take on. I called and spoke with Steve of Connect Electric and he gave me an estimate for a job to fix an outlet that blew out in the basement. I hired him and he told me that he would be there on a Saturday morning at 8:30 am. He got there at 8:25 am! Very punctual. He proceeded to fix the electric outlet and circuit breaker. During that time he was very informative and was telling each of the steps he was doing along the way. I also asked if he could check other outlets that I was having issues with and he checked and replaced them also.
