Connect for Health Colorado canceled my health insurance plan without any notice or explanation. I only found out because I happened to check my bank account and saw they had refunded my premium payment. I never missed a payment. I did nothing wrong. They just canceled my coverage and said nothing. When I called to find out what happened, not a single representative could give me an answer. They opened an "escalation request" and told me to call back in 3 to 5 days. It has now been three weeks. Every time I call, I get rude, dismissive customer service reps who tell me "the case is still processing" and nothing else. No timeline. No explanation. No accountability. I am now without health insurance through no fault of my own, and this organization apparently has no urgency around that. One month I had coverage. The next month they quietly refunded my payment and vanished my plan. That is not a clerical error, that is a failure of basic responsibility to the people who depend on this service. i'm starting with a one star since I haven't been able to reach someone in the appeals department. The mistake was made by myself in the portal when updating our coverage for 2026, Nov 30th 2025. To make sure that our health insurance was active for 2026 by the deadline in December, I did get on the portal to attempt to sign up for our new plan. I accidentally cancelled our plan for our two sons for December of last year, only finding out in January at a doctors visit when a large balance was asked for payment on. I've called in to both Kaiser and marketplace, and I'm not sure what to do with at this point. We have a refund check that was sent to my son that he did not cash. I am just devastated for the error with the portal and the changes to 2025 that were to be for 2026, and would hope this be considered as human error. Please tell me I am not the only one that accidentally cancelled a plan?? I spoke to customer service who could not help and left a voicemail for the appeals department last week, which I have not heard back from yet..... read more

I got an email saying we were enrolled in health insurance with Anthem on December 16, 2025 and our insurance started 1/1/26 and we would get a card and enrollment information in the mail. We got nothing. I called Anthem on 1/6/26 they said I needed to call Connect for Health. I called Connect for Health on 1/6/26 and they apologized and said they elevated my request. I got nothing. I called again on 1/20/26 and they apologized and said they elevated my request again as we had urgent medical needs. I got nothing from them. I got a letter on 1/22/26 from Anthem saying that they had not heard from us and the insurance was cancelled. So now we have no insurance for 2026. Thanks Connect for Health Colorado! read more

Absolutely ridiculous agency! Just a got a premium bill from my 2026 health plan for almost $3,000. With my tax credit, it should be less than $8. I have contacted both Connect for Health and my new insurance a few times already. A couple of times because my plan was cancelled without my knowledge and with no explanation. It all started with a "duplicate" account? Don't know how that happened, but another issue that seems to be the norm by reading reviews. Insurance pointed fingers at Connect for Health, and Connect for Health blamed the insurance company. I thought everything was fixed after my recent call to insurance, and I just had to wait for Connect for Health to reinstate the plan. That was over 2 weeks ago, and they never did, hence the $3,000 premium bill. I guess I'll be on the phone AGAIN due to the utter incompetence of CFHC. If this crap keeps up, I'll probably just go without insurance. This issue seems to be the norm as I read other reviews. read more

I signed up with CFHC after quitting my job as of March 2024. I scoped out exactly which insurance plan I wanted and figured it would be easy to sign up. Wrong! I entered my expected income for 2024, which qualified me for a substantial subsidy. But some genius at CFHC looked at the documents I submitted and decided I was still fully employed and multiplied my non-existent former salary by 20 or something and added in my expected investment income, ultimately calculating that my income would be too high for a premium subsidy because I'd be making $160,000! I've never made anything close to that! When I called customer service, I mocked their accounting and guess I made the agent angry, so she told me that she was referring me for Medicaid instead! I explained that, while I wasn't going to make $160,000, there was no way I qualified for Medicaid. She basically said "too bad," told me she couldn't help me further since I was going on Medicaid and ended the call. I couldn't believe this was happening, but it was. I had been signed up for Medicaid by a vindictive call agent without my permission and I wasn't even eligible! Furthermore, the CFHC call agent told Medicaid that the salary I had made from the job I had quit would be my total income for 2024, which she knew was untrue. She did not supply Medicaid with any info on my upcoming Social Security benefits or investment income. Fortunately, my county Health and Human Services department saw right through the CFHC scam and kicked me off Medicaid. Interestingly though, they pointed out that the CFHC agent had even backdated my Medicaid referral to Feb. 1, 2024, when I was still working full-time, making a great salary at a very large company and was on fantastic group health insurance through Feb. 29, 2024. How was this even legal? I eventually prevailed in getting a subsidized private medical insurance plan through CFHC, but every single time I sent in my income paperwork (because CFHC kept saying I needed to resubmit it or else I would lose my subsidy) CFHC inexplicably LOWERED my income forecast even though the income I was reporting did not change. At one point, they increased my premium subsidy for no reason, which I didn't want because I'd have to repay it when I file my taxes in 2025. I just signed up with CFHC again for 2025, and it was a circus because my income in 2025 will be different from what it was in 2024 (because I do not have any job at all this year and am mainly relying on Social Security and retirement investments). I'm totally scared about how this round is going to play out and how CFHC will interpret my income documents this time. It just shouldn't be this hard! read more

Each year the plans change and you often are left with a gap month uncovered. For instance if you apply in January, the system automatically cancels your current plan and starts your new plan Feb 1st, so if you have appointments good luck. Also, my girlfriend has $0 income, yet never receives a dime in subsidy, so you might as well go on Medicaid if you can. read more

They created several accounts under my name with various email address's and now I cannot access my account and they cannot delete the ones that are not related to me whatsoever. The Technolgy is dated and they have no IT person on staff to help fix any of the problems. No supervisors on staff that can do their job and actually help the customer. No way to get your 1095-A tax forms to file your taxes. They have miss-spelled my address, my name, my email address, and I have spent hours on the phone trying to get it rectified with no satisfaction. Beyond frustrated and over it. I had an issue with my health insurance automatically renewing in January 2025. As I did not want to cnange anything with my plan it should have automatically renewed but didnt. The person I spoke to at Connect for Health Colorado was very helpful and competent at sorting out this anomaly and got my insurance continuation started as soon as they could which was the first day of February. I was very happy with the help I received. Also, it was refreshing to get to speak to a real person almost immediately, the only automated question I had to respond to was what language I would like to use. read more

These companies are ridiculous. We got a letter from our dental provider saying our policy was cancelled. We called the provider (who I can barely understand) and they tell us we have to talk to Connect for Health Colorado about this matter. They transfer us to Connect for Health Colorado, who says or policy is NOT cancelled and is till active. I ask why we got a letter from our provider saying it was cancelled. They say I need to talk to the provider. This never ends. They just keep sending you round and round. Ridiculous and inefficient. read more

On June 30, I used a 3rd party broker to assist in applying for and purchasing Health Insurance through Connect for Health Colorado (I was on the phone with the broker while traveling, the broker accessed the website.) On July 1, the policy became active but I discovered that the policy we had purchased failed to include dental or my dependents I called the broker back and we visited the website together to cancel the policy. The policy completely vanished from the Connect for Health Colorado website. I contacted Cigna to confirm that the policy was cancelled, but they said they could do nothing until the paperwork settled and I received paperwork from them via physical mail. On July 8, I received an e-mail notification from Cigna that the policy was valid thru Aug 1, at which time it would be cancelled. I called Connect for Health Colorado and was told (quite rudely, but that is irrelevant) that I had waited too long to cancel the policy (I cancelled it via the website within 18 hours of applying!), and I would be responsible for the premium for the month of July. I contacted the 3rd party broker and we got on the phone together with Connect for Health Colorado (this is on July 9) and was told there was nothing they could do, but that I could file an appeal. I called the Office of Appeals at 1-855-492-2420 multiple times, consistently getting sent to voicemail. No one from that office has returned my call. According to the ACA, health insurance policies typically have a 10 day grace period, and Connect for Health Colorado ought to do the right thing and respect the cancellation of the policy as of July 1, when it was cancelled via their website. read more

Normally I don't leave reviews, but my experience has been so bad that I feel the need to leave one. Connect for health Colorado has terrible communication with the insurance companys they work with. I have been trying to cancel my cigna plan with them since July, because I moved out of Colorado. The first person I spoke to (a samantha) did not send in my cancelation paperwork to Cigna. Then, one month later when I received a charge, I reached out again. (that time I spoke with a rep who told me I was cancelled (yet again) and that i would get a refund) After receiving a 3rd charge, I called connect for health colorado again, and finally they were able to cancel, but honestly this has been a horrible experience over all... ive now paid for 2 months of insurance that wasnt needed and Im not even guaranteed a refund. I was told (yet again) that I was going to be cancelled, and im hoping that this time it is for real, because this has been awful. Every year, I try to enroll for insurance and every year, I end up spending several hours on hold, finally to be connected with support agents that usually can't help and brokers that have the same problems as I do with the extremely poorly-designed website. The website loops you around again and again, forcing you to enter the same personal information over and over, reselecting your policy and re-entering payment info and signing disclosures. In the end, it never processes your request. If it's close to the Dec 15 deadline, there's no chat or phone service, either. If that wasn't enough, all these subsidies just lead to higher inflation and make us all poorer and increasingly dependent on the government just to get by, no matter how hard you've tried to get ahead. I feel trapped in a nightmare. Unfortunately, since we all have to pay for this, there's no real opting out. You can't get away from it, no matter how self-sufficient you try to be. My review is about Connect for Health Colorado's training process for anyone who wants to work there. I give this company's training crew a -0.00 for review! They "train" people for 3 weeks. In your first week they expect newbies to be pros at the job (seriously). In the first few days of your training, it's a sink or swim situation and if you ask questions because you don't understand something you're let go! Go figure! After reading all the one star comments here, regarding the mediocracy Customer Service at Connect for Health Colorado has, I understand why. In the training process, they move you quickly like cattle and expect you to understand everything! Anyone who asks questions because they don't understand a concept is a threat to them! They don't like hiring well-trained intelligent, serious people who want to do a great job. I takes about between 3-6 months to learn a new job well, Connect for Health Colorado trainers should know that. I don't recommend anyone to work there. Zero stars. This is an unnecessary government middleman paid for by taxpayers that adds red tape to getting health insurance. Trying to enroll this year was very difficult, even though Connect for Health Colorado has been operating for several years. Several webpages were not working, the website kept freezing, and at the final page where I was supposed to press "Finish", it basically froze and gave no indication that I was finished. Trying to get help was impossible: the Chat and Phone functions did not work. Every time you use Chat, you have to enter lots of information about yourself first including last four digits of SS#. Then, chances are, the Chat function is not working. I tried to call the insurance carrier I was trying to enroll with directly, to order the policy directly from them, and they told me I had to go through Connect for Health. After I enrolled, and their website told me I enrolled, and a broker called me to confirm I enrolled, I received an email saying that I was in fact, not enrolled because they need proof of my Social Security number and U.S. citizenship. Then in July I get an $1100 bill, as they did NOT cancel my policy. I called and worked on this for 5 hours, talking to both Connect for health and Rocky mtn health which was the policy holder. Letting them know that I sent an email to Rocky mtn health and spoke to Connect for health same day in March. Could prove this email, cancelling in March. Horrible customer service! I needed my tax information downloaded however they are not compatible with Apple system and made impossible to download considering all devices in my home are APPLE. As are most people's so this is ridiculous. She proceeded to tell me the only way I can get is if she sends it in the mail and could take 6-8 weeks. Yeah no thanks taxes are DUE tomorrow as I had already explained and if it was sent out in the first place BY MAIL I wouldn't have to try to download it with my non compatible device. This place is truly a nightmare! I signed up for 2021 coverage toward start of December 2020 only the insurance company, Bright Health, has not received my enrollment so technically I cannot use my plan since they have no record of me. Connect said to wait so I did, now they supposedly resubmitted my enrollment. In this computer era WHY is this so difficult? But the kicker is THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME IN 2017. It took 3 MONTHS for my enrollment to be recognized and this was after I filed a complaint with the state. The problem is if you want a tax credit you have to use Connect, but there is no one at the state level who keeps them in check. I have no choice but to wait. In the meantime I have no coverage to use. I called Bright Health and they told me many more people are in the same predicament as I am. read more

What an utterly atrocious experience... I've been attempting to utilize Connect for Health Colorado for the past three-days - sinking several hours into the process - and have gotten nowhere. Are our tax dollars paying for this? The website design, tools, and application process are unhelpful and cryptic. When data is entered that it doesn't like (yet completely correct as provided), the process simply kicks you out stating 'an error has occurred' but gives no feedback or indication of how to correct it. I've hit dead-end after dead-end. Calling in for help is no better. I left information three-days ago but couldn't get any live agent - but was promised a call-back which never came. If you use the website to 'Schedule a call' you get directed to a nonexistent URL. I made repeated calls to their general number and today got through to a live agent after standing on my head, but the agent plainly stated to me that there was an error, had no detail or guidance on how to fix it, and that I should check-back next week! I'd love to give feedback via the website - but there is no opportunity to do so. Likewise, the agent I finally did speak with couldn't tell me how I could provide feedback... You have to log in multiple times, then they block you because you've logged in too many times! When I tried to call to get my account unlocked, that isn't an option. Absolutely terrible. Customer service was zero help. Was billed an extra $700 by Kaiser because of a mistake on their website. Called and cancelled right away, still got billed over $700 by Kaiser, even though my monthly bill was around $269. They then cancelled my plan because I wouldn't pay the $700, even though I explained every thing that happened. Not my fault. So then I go in and sign up for a new plan, and when I do it takes off my previous dental plan for some reason. Now I don't have dental coverage. I have to call and try to straighten that out. Have been an on time paying customer for several years, and get treated like crap, because their website sucks, and their customer service sucks. read more

Overall I would rate Connect For Health Colorado zero stars. HOWEVER, I just had the quickest, easiest, and nicest transaction with Ariella. She helped me through a problem I had been dealing with for quite some time. She was extremely nice, very easy to understand, and was able to answer questions that I couldn't get answers for previously. I usually schedule out my day around connect for health colorado phone calls because they are stressful and I am about ready to throw my phone out the window after. I cannot say thank you enough to Ariella. If all of the staff at connect for health colorado were like her, the company would be much easier to work with. read more
