We visited this church for the first time on Easter Sunday of 2017; and our entire families life has been changed like never before! From the moment we approached the gate there was a lighted signed that stated "first time visitors, turn your headlights on". We did so and noted that there were greeters there to meet us, along with special parking reserved for us!!! even though no one was expecting us!! The greeters were so efficient that by the time we parked, they were there to open open our doors for us with heartfelt Welcome!!, one of them, then escorted us to the welcome desk. On approaching the desk, I noted there were two ladies there, as i looked around for my family each of them were already engaged in conversation with someone of their age group or from one of the ministries of the church that might appeal to them. The welcome was so warm it felt homely!! and real, not fake and pretentious.... As we entered the sanctuary, again, everyone greeted us so warmly, My thoughts were lets see how long this last. The praise and worship was to die for..... not just a group of people singing but those that know how to Praise the Lord and to usher you into His presence to Worship the Father. It felt like I had died and went to Heaven. The SERMON....was not just a burst of loud barking, but the word of God being taught so simple, effectual and relevant, simple and succinct that a child can understand. Fastforward......... It's now been a year and am still attending Canaan Land and nothing has fallen off the cart or by the wayside. This church is all that a church should be and more homebase, a community partner, a school, a place of refuge, a place of fun and family time, a shelter, a hand in time of need just to name a few, this church is just phenomenal. They have people to assist if you don't know where to go into the sanctuary for service. The sanctuary is huge like a stadium. You could sit up close near the platform, in the middle, on the sides or a the top away. I like to come early so I can select my seating. They do have ushers who will direct you to a seat according to the size of your family or by yourself. They are also friendly and helpful too. The praise and worship is great. Songs originated by their ministry team can be song or songs by popular Christian artists song, but the songs will be rooted in the Word(Bible). I love that pastors or ministers preach the word from the Bible. They have it on the screens for you to follow or you use the You Version Bible app to follow along, which is the best! Communion is given out on first Sunday, but if led to give on another Sunday they will do so. This church is not a religious church, but about a relationship with Jesus. It is non-denominational. Then one day I drove past this little tiny church with a flooded parking lot. Have you've ever been to a small restaurant with 150 cars? Makes you want to eat there, huh? So I did... Figuratively speaking, I ate there and boy was it good! The first thing I noticed when I walked in were the many, many flags that hung on the wall representing diversity and welcoming all cultures. Next, dress code. There was no pressure of needing expensive suits or dresses to praise. The range of outfits varied from Brooks Brothers to simple linen pants, I loved it! Then I met the pastor and his beautiful wife, they were so honest and caring and humble. You can tell they are God-loving, relatable and genuine people. This goes for the entire congregation that I've met thus far. In a nutshell, if you're looking for a place to worship visit here. There are services at 9:30am and 11:30am every Sunday. It's in the ballroom of the Infinite Energy Center. There's plenty of parking. It can seem confusing when you get there, but there are signs everywhere and there are people who can assist you. They even have shuttles for you if you need assistance or you're not in the mood to walk. When it's raining, someone will come to you with an umbrella. It's awesome! When you walk in, you're greeted by a ton of welcoming people. There's free coffee and water bottles. Service usually starts right on time and lasts for about an hour and a half. Also, there are midweek services that happen at Duluth Church of God. It's the their midweek hub. They have young adult services, youth services, occasional worship services, Monday morning prayer, women's services, etc. The pastors are Ashley and Jaine Evans. They are some of the most welcoming and warm people I've met. This church is all about hugs. It's a very atmosphere that welcomes anybody. It doesn't matter what you've been through and who you are, you're so welcome here. My favorite thing about this church is the strong, intentional community aspect. Their desire and mission is to make God known and to help you know that you aren't alone! If you're ever in the area or you're looking for a new church home, come check it out!
