Kiko + Sven is a tiny shop with a lot of cute items. Some appear handmade and other are just cute or unique. They probably have more jewelry than anything. It is mostly dainty gold and silver, some with long beads and some made from clay. They have a back wall that is full of greeting cards, and a section of toddler and baby items. There are usually quite a few candles and soaps, and a small amount of cocktail/cooking supplies. All of it calls out to me... and makes me want to spend money. They also have a rack of clothing in the shop, and usually a sale rack outside. I have bought a couple of tops and a cute shawl there in the past, but since the selection is so small, I often don't find any clothing that either is my size or style. I think it is a great shop to browse and find something unecspected. As it is very small, the times I went looking for something more specific for gifts, it has been a bit hit or miss. Their stock varies over time and you may or may not luck out. All in all, if you are shopping or eating on Adams, go check it out. It's really fun to browse and you may find something you like. Also, they will make you an account so you can put your phone number in for discounts without any coupons or solicitaitons.

Shift and Connect: A Jurassically Twisted Art Safari By the time I stumbled into Shift and Connect, the art gallery-slash-shop with the charm of a velociraptor on a bender, I was already deep into a peyote-fueled hunt for the perfect T-Rex skull lamp. What I found instead was a kaleidoscopic maelstrom of colors, chaos, and dinosaur-inspired fever dreams that would have sent Darwin himself scuttling back to the Galápagos, gibbering about a new species of abstract insanity. The shop is a veritable Mesozoic madhouse, a curated collection of art that defies logic, time, and the common decency of a sensible timeline. You're greeted at the door by a stegosaurus skeleton wearing a top hat and monocle, offering a cheerful wave as if to say, "Welcome to the land before time--and sanity." It was unclear if the monocle was ironic or if the dinosaur genuinely had eyesight issues. Inside, the walls are plastered with paintings of dinosaurs doing things they probably never did--like attending raves, smoking cigars, or playing high-stakes poker. Imagine a raptor with a poker face--utterly terrifying and yet strangely dignified, like the ghost of Las Vegas itself had decided to possess a museum exhibit. Connect San Diego Connect is a viiibe. effortlessly stylish, vintage finds, local artistry, and music that makes you feel like you're cooler than you actually are. The vintage selection at Connect is wiiiiiiiild, almost offensively so. You know those thrift stores where you have to wade through racks of old work shirts and stained polos just to find a halfway decent pair of jeans? This is not that, baby. Here, every piece feels like it has had a life. That vibing jacket? It's definitely seen a few bad choices but it's also seen so many good ones. The silk dress in the corner? I stumbled into this store the first time I visited OB almost 2 years ago. The store seemed really intriguing from the outside and was equally as interesting on the inside. If pop culture, overstimulation, art, and accessories are your thing, you'll be at home here. I've bought stickers and clothes from this store, but the standout product for me is the pin collection. The pins at this store are by far the nicest pins I've ever seen in my life. Holding one of the $25 premium pins will instantly teach you why they're worth every penny. The level of detail on the pins is astounding, they come to life with 3D features and nice materials. Robert has always been extremely kind and patient with me as I inspect each pin to see which one I'm getting this time. I called immediately and told him I knew what they did, and he didn't apologize just said it would be refunded. It's been over 48 hours and nothing. I'm pretty sure I'm not the first person they've done this to, just happened to have my email saved with Square. This is disgraceful business practice and the BBB and Square will be notified. So check your receipts or better yet, take your business to people who don't steal from their customers. Square receipts attached in case they even try to discredit what they did.
