I had inadvertently corrupted my windows 11 operating system on my computer. I thought I was going to have to buy a new laptop. I was really amazed that Michael, the technician that helped me was very skilled and knowledgeable. He explained his laptop diagnosis to me in simple terms that I could understand. I called Apple to ask about a hard drive issue with an old MacBook Air and they made me an appointment to have it checked out at Connecting Point. The store's customer service was top-notch: knowledgeable, respectful, forthright, supportive, patient, and even extra-mile. I asked to have a new hard drive installed and, on their own initiative, they also replaced some worn key caps simply because they had some extras available. I just wanted to post how amazingly happy I am with the customer service at Connecting Point. After spilling liquid on my computer, they worked to make sure my it survived. Did I mention that I need my computer the next day? I'm not sure if they do this all the time, but I paid for expedited service and I got my computer back by 2:00pm the next day. Amazing! I had a horrible experience both professionally and in customer service. I dropped off my son's computer to get repaired and I was told it would be ready in 2 days. I called them on the day it was supposed to be ready and was told they never entered my information into their system and it would be another two days to order the part and have it ready. no apology Then I cal 2 days later and i was told the part was there but they were closing and wouldn't have time to finish it and said it would be another 3 days. I call 3 days later and the person who was supposed to fix it was put and it would be another day. No apologies, no discount, only a bs excuse that it takes a week to get the part, which was not was I was originally told. Very poor service and very rude when I picked it up and complained, basically making me feel it was my fault. DO NOT SHOP THERE! DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK! read more

dropped off my hp laptop because it was going on and off this was my first time here. Immediately was told that it would be a few days foe some one to look at it unless i paid$35.00 to move it up in the line so I did . Instantly I was told I would get a call in a few hours. After being told that the jack where the power supply is plugged in was bad and needed replacement. I gave them the ok to fix it. I waited a week for them to repair it. After paying $141.00 for the repair i get home plug in the power supply it worked but for one thing ,even though the battery is charged as soon as I unplug the power supply the computer immediately shuts off and the workmanship is shoddy the jack is loose and will disconnect and go dead. The $35.00 charge to move up in the line is just a rip off. avoid going here if you can I know I will read more

Several months ago my MacBook Pro began experiencing some problems with the battery. Upon calling Apple to schedule an appointment at the store in Syracuse, I was pleasantly surprised to find Connecting Point was an authorized Apple repair shop. I took my MacBook in and John promptly addressed the issues and I went about my day. Last week I discovered a problem with the hard drive. I called over and spoke to John who advised that it was either a hardware problem (covered by Apple Care) or a software problem (not covered). I requested he run the diagnostic to confirm the problem and give me a call with the results before proceeding. When I dropped my computer off John had just stepped out of the office and another person, assumedly the manager/owner took my computer in. I once again reiterated that I'd like a call to discuss the results of the diagnostic before proceeding. I heard nothing from them and decided to call them back after three hours. They asked me to come down and pick up my laptop. I found that a bit strange, but headed to the shop. I got there and found that the diagnostic revealed a software problem and John had proceeded with repairing it. I asked if it was covered and was advised it was not covered. I expressed my frustration that I had specifically asked twice for a phone call prior to any work being done. John got the manager/owner who had taken my laptop in and his first reaction was to YELL at me "WHAT WE FIXED IT, NOW YOU DON'T WANT TO PAY?" In the middle of the store with other customers around. After going back and forth, John did step up and admit that he said he would call me before doing any work. The owner/manager then backed down and waived the charge (which ironically, I would've paid). Though I appreciate John and all that he's done, I will never return to this store. The way I was treated was humiliating, rude, and dismissive. read more

I am a Mac user so having this place local is literally as good as it gets. They have been Mac certified for 25 years and their techies definitely know their stuff. They have always been very friendly and courteous, and I always have my stuff back in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend the Connecting Point as an alternative to Best Buy/Geek Squad. read more

As a Mac user from Utica, I find it impractical to drive to Albany or Syracuse to get my computer fixed every time a piece of hardware breaks. Just before this Thanksgiving break I was unlucky enough to lose to have my RAM fail, right before for finals no less! I happened to find out that this store performs Apple repairs and went to check it out before I gave them my precious Mac (I know, it's a big deal to me). I met with the staff, specifically John who would be fixing my computer. Right away I could tell that he and the rest of the staff were very knowledgable about computers (I fix my computers a lot for my friends and am basically my family's go-to IT person). They were very understanding that I was a student and was desperate to have my computer back to continue my homework and projects. I was confident that they would have my computer back to me ASAP! As the days went by, my mom and I got a phone call each day with updates and how things were going. John made numerous phone calls to speed up the delivery on some parts and to confirm with Apple engineers that plans to fix my Mac were correct. I was surprised how quickly the job was done compared to the many computer fixes I've had done in the past. They packed my computer and overnighted it to me so I had it back even quicker! To be honest, I highly doubt I will ever go to a Mac store again to get a fix, especially since if there IS a problem, mac stores just send it out to places like this to get it fixed anyway, so I save probably a week in just mailing time! I would suggest anyone to go here, even for a PC fix or anything else. It's better to get it done correctly and keep your computer healthy than risk it! read more

I had excellent customer service here! When I restarted my MacBook today it was in the midst of a software update (that I did not know about) and when it started back up I got a cryptic error about my OS not working. I brought it into the shop and was told there would be a 2-3 day turn around but got it back the same way with the problem fixed. These guys know what they're doing! I was so stressed over this and they were quick and reassuring helping me out. Best part, they cleaned off my screen and keyboard like it just came out of the box. My husband and I have always been happy with the products and services we get at Connecting Point, and this week I was so pleased I just had to take the time to write a review. Even though I was not buying anything this week, John Glassy helped me get my old external hard drive functioning as a backup device again, and then taught me how to fix the thumb drives that were "mysteriously" going bad. He seems to be knowledgable about any computer-related topic I bring up, and can explain things in a way that even this old dinosaur can understand. He's always friendly, patient, and professional. They were supposed to replace the LCD screen on my HP G70. I didn't have time to do it myself in the midst of taking care of my children, so I thought paying for something so easy was a no-brainer. I had my laptop returned to me with cracked and bent lacing brackets around my LCD screen, broken the plastic nut mounts out of the LCD rear (top) lid, and they GLUED my palm rest assembly (which, in my case, does power the POWER button to my computer, but still) TO the main assembly, left my webcam dangling behind my LCD screen, and the LCD screen half plugged into the main assembly, so it wouldn't turn on half of the time. Needless to say, I have spent MORE money and time buying new LCD brackets, a new LCD back cover, taking my whole laptop apart and fixing it than it would have been worth for me to simply buy the LCD screen and replace it myself. I should have demanded that they replace my whole laptop. I will NEVER trust these people with my electronics again! EVER! read more
