I had a new furnace installed last year, by Hummingbird heating and plumbing, very satisfied. I wanted to change the filter and was unable to remove it. Called, set up an appointment and the service repairman came . His name was Dean. He called before he was to arrive, he knew exactly how to fix the issue. He gave me a hint on removing the filter. Told me to make rabbit ears on the filter with duck tape. That way I can pull the filter out. I told him I was disappointed the installers did not show me how to remove the filter. After all, I really was not thrilled that I had to have a service call. The best part of this review is that there wasn't any charge, he gave me a pound of hummingbird coffee , a fabulous tip on removing the filter and we shook hands. Very thankful for the rabbit ear tip, everyone should learn this! Very pleased with Hummingbird, the service repairman Dean and my pound of coffee. But the best part... no charge. All but impossible to get questions on the estimate answered. I can't say more as I didn't hire them.

Just stay away from Hummingbird. They just simply looking for an opportunity to rip you off. They tried to scare me by saying that carbon monoxide leaking from my old furnace and need to replace right away. They shut off the furnace in the middle of winter and refused to turn it back on, saying that you don't want to see a big headline on the local newspaper. Of course, anything burning will emit CO and I have CO monitors nearby. Another company simply did maintenance on the furnace and said the furnace still works great. read more

As a senior on a fixed income, Hummingbird is a wildly overpriced service. AC capacitor failure. Tech diagnosed by description of problem. the service call and the part (only the capacitor) $516.83 (plus CC fee) so the total cost $529.80, on a non-emergent service call to replace the AC capacitor. Went on line and booked AC service he was on time, on line showed 78$ before 4/30 and service was yesterday but paid 103 after tax. Have not received a receipt. I would not recommend a company that deems a 19,000$ quote is appropriate for a simple 18,000-22,000 btu 2 head mini split. Wanted to add air to my 2nd floor as central air is sufficient for 1st floor of my home build in 1910. They said need new electrical service but even that would not account for some $19,000 quote for simple mini split. Way over priced! A brand new furnace and central air would not cost that much money. Should be ashamed to quote anyone that for a tiny system. read more

UPDATE 1/21/25: These folks at Hummingbird keep amazing me. Not only did they install my new gas‐fired steam boiler like absolute pros--complete with black‐painted pipes, a sweet RGB lightstrip, and careful floor protection--they also owned up to a small mishap with my stairs sagging from the heavy boiler. But let me tell you, their communication is top‐notch: Alex, one of their subcontractors, called me right away, and he's already working on a plan to get it fixed (with no doubt they'll go above and beyond to make it right!). Throughout the process, I could text or call anytime (and I mean any time) with questions. They were super responsive, even late in the evening while we hammered out the estimate details. If you have a gas‐fired steam boiler and want a crew who's totally obsessed (and insanely talented) with boilers, this is the team for you. They've got Dallis and James, who are basically boiler nerds in the best way--James even shows off his installs on socials, proud as can be, and it shows in how he focuses on both functionality & aesthetics. They handled a thermostat hiccup (my smart thermostat wouldn't play nice) by giving me a free Honeywell unit and making sure everything worked flawlessly. I got four quotes before choosing Hummingbird, and I'm so happy I did. If you're looking for HVAC pros who truly geek out about steam boilers--and keep you in the loop every step of the way--look no further! Unbeknownst to us, our furnace was leaking carbon monoxide and other poisonous gasses. The technician showed me the parts that had failed in our 16 year old furnace. Due to safety concerns it had to be turned off and disconnected. However, a new and much improved furnace was installed the very next day. We are very happy with Hummingbird and will recommend them to anyone. read more

Thank God for Hummingbird! We had an emergency situation yesterday with Carbon Monoxide detected in our home on the coldest day of the year. The fire department and national grid shut the heating system off. We have a four month old baby at home and Hummingbird made us a priority and expedited getting to our house. They arrived before national grid even left. They delivered space heaters and secured all materials to start the proper repairs the next day. By today we had an entirely new heating system and a warm home for our young child. They were knowledgeable and kind. They made a pretty awful day as pleasant as possible. James and Conor did a great job with the install and their attention to detail was amazing. They spent the time to get every detail right. If I could give a higher review than 5 stars I would. read more

Hummingbird installed central air at my daughter's house and came to do a free furnace check. They discovered the old hot water heater was spewing carbon monoxide, there was a small gas leak in one of the lines and the furnace was never grounded. They replaced the hot water tank, redid the gas line, installed a power vent for the carbon monoxide and grounded the furnace the next day. Service was fast and personable, and they are the only company I would call for heating and cooling. read more
