DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They have predatory practices. I had an alarm installed 9/2014 at which time I was told I had a 3 year contract term. I was OK with that because while most companies have a 2 year term, I figured I would always need/want alarm monitoring. When I signed the contract it was never brought to my attention that if I did not cancel PRIOR to my 3 year term expiration I would be automatically renew for another 12 months. Really??? Like who does that? I was supposed to receive a camera and they never installed it. If my alarm went off and I disarmed it, they still sent the police to my home which has resulted in over $500 in fees to my local police department...I am currently disputing this with them as well. The app they give you doesn't work. And now after 3 years, my system keeps going off in my home for no reason. I JUST WANT OUT!!! I called back in early 2017 to express my displeasure. At that time I was told by Casey that I would have to wait until my 3 year term was up to cancel. Its now 3 years and 1 month and I call back only to have Lindsay Behl tell me that I will be automatically renewed for another 12 months. WHAT?????????? Are you kidding me? Why wasn't I told this back when I called prior to my contract expiration? I understand contracts and I get it is my responsibility to read them but this is ridiculous. I called prior to my contract expiration date, I should have been told at that time that I needed to put the request in not tell me to call back after my expiration date so that they could charge me an extra 12 months! CROOKS! I asked Lindsay to speak with a manager and I am being told he, the manager Brian Fish, will call me back in 3-5 days. 3-5 days??? Really? You seriously cannot claim to provide good customer service when you tell a customer to wait 3-5 days to speak with someone to get this resolved. So now Lindsay is going to put in the cancellation request but I will have to dispute the charges because despite my displeasure they are going to bill me for 12 more months. Incredible. There are so many options out there to choose from for alarm, surveillance and home automation systems. It takes time, researching and knowing exactly what you want to find a system that works for you. The prices for these systems range from $100s to $1000s of dollars depending on what you want. Having someone who will work with you and educate you on their products makes all the difference. I am the type of customer that likes to know the ins and outs of everything, all of the intricate details of the devices involved. After, lots of time to think and comparing prices I decided to go with ConnectOne. Initially, I had my doubts. There are many negative reviews online. However, as tedious and difficult of a customer as I am.... I can say that the customer service that I've received, the system installation and the overall operation of the system has been exceptional!!! Everything has worked as planned. I am four months in and have absolutely no complaints. Everyone has been extremely helpful when I need assistance. They are also willing to teach me, which I love. The reason for even a 1 star rating is that their actual techs are pretty great. Scott, in particular, was very helpful and friendly whenever we spoke to him (absolutely no issues with him at all). The rest of their team, however, have been incredibly difficult and frustrating to work with. We've spent almost 6 months trying to get responses from them regarding missing equipment we had already paid for but still haven't received. One of their team members (Christie) would tell us they were going back/forth with our builder's warranty department and then proceed to not return any calls or emails. When we'd reach out to her partner (Lyndsey), she didn't have any idea what we were talking about and would tell us to contact the builder directly. Upon being corrected about what Christie had told us, she said she would let us know (even though both had been on all communication from the beginning). But even then, zero responses altogether. We even went to our builder's warranty department, but they told us we would need to work with ConnectOne on it. But at least they responded in a timely manner! I would HIGHLY DISCOURAGE anyone from even thinking about going to them for any such matters (as I have already done with a few family members that have since purchased home with Darling and Taylor Morrison - one of their preferred builders). Just a nightmare that sadly still hasn't been resolved (over 4 small pieces of equipment that could just as easily be mailed or that I would be happy to pick up in person). read more

We bought a Village Builders home over 3.5 years ago. Connect One did the pre-wiring for the sound and security systems so we went with them for the monitoring and sound system. They had to come back several times on the sound systems but got it right, no complaints on that. As for the security system, we signed a 3 year contract. I went to cancel the contract since we were moving and I was informed that our contract "auto renewed" after the 3 years was up. I was also informed that I had to pay over $300 to get out of my contract. What crooks! I already fulfilled my contract for the 3 years, you would think they would send you a reminder or ask if you want to renew their contract, but nothing! Also they didn't lower the price since we paid for the equipment in the 3 year contract. I will never do business with them nor recommend them to anyone! We now use an independent company that treats us well and does not require such ridiculous contracts! read more

You may want to read the 1 star reviews first. The 5 stars one looks fake to me. You should also read the reviews on Google. Looks like I am not the only one has the issue. Judging from the the ratings profiles, mostly are 5 stars or 1 stars, not much in between. This probably is one of the worst company I have dealt with. They don't notify you when the contract ends to lower your rates. It automatically locks you in for another year. Even when I complained after the contract ends, their rate is still not very competitive. l went with Smith Thompson and cut my rates in half. Their service is terrible compare with Smith Thompson. Unfortunately, I still have to pay them over $400 to end the contract. Apparently, this is their standard practice betting that you will forget when the contract ends to continue charging you higher rates. Not sure how they can stay in business. You should notify them now you want to cancel the service when the contract ends. Or else, you get to pay high rates for another year. Wayne, Please read my review, the contract ended. Since I wrote this review, ConnectOne has been immediately responsive to resolve the issue. I did continue to have multiple occurrences of issues with Control 4, but the support team is highly responsive and I am grateful for that. I give them an additional star for their customer support ...As for the Control 4 technology, the Control 4 remote went out this week (replaced the batteries 3 weeks ago and put in new ones again yesterday..the remote is back online now) I'm not happy with the lack of consistency in Control 4s performance. If i can go through 1 month at this point without an issue that would be great. One of my tv's is not working, but it could be a u-verse receiver issue so i'll troubleshoot that with u-verse first... I will vouch for their security cameras and alarm system--for that I will give them another star. The security cameras have exceptionally high quality and the response to an alarm going off in the house is excellent. read more

I had a similar experience as most of the previous customers. This is a horrible company that locks customers into long term contracts with no escape. They make most of their money off of early termination fees. Not too mention that their monthly alarm monitoring fee is much higher than competition. There are many better options available. The ConnectOne showroom was fun and well put together. It was like walking into a home and the different rooms of a home. Very beautiful and welcoming. It's amazing what you can do to make your home and life safer and more efficient. The staff were all very nice and welcoming and super helpful! Taylor was extremely helpful in showing us the different rooms and options that were available to us. I highly recommend going to them for security and smart home needs! This company has HORRIBLE customer service. Their technicians are nice but it ends there. I was told very RUDELY by a manager that my warranty will be VOID if I don't do a self test of the equipment each and every month on my own. When I said that I didn't know about this policy the manager very loudly started talking over me and arguing with me telling me that I had "signed paperwork" with this policy on it (thrown in there with all kinds of other policies). However, they never once explained to me how ridiculously inconvenient it is to run this test or I would have never signed with them. Not only are they more expensive than most monitoring services, but they make YOU the customer do the work. Running this test requires you to call in and have them put your alarm in test mode, then BLARE your alarm for 60 seconds (really fun for animals, babies and neighbors) and then call back in again to make sure that they received the signal. You have to do this each and every month or they void your warranty. I'm sorry but if I'm paying $40 a month for service it is THEIR responsibility to ensure that their equipment works, not mine. If I want to test my alarm, great, but don't void my warranty if I don't feel like going through that every month. Their managers also need some customer service training to learn how to speak to people- so RUDE. The icing on the cake, is that they didn't even have my correct street address in their system- they had an incorrect street name. All paperwork on my end shows my correct address, yet they don't have it in their system. So if my alarm were to go off they wouldn't even be sending police to the correct address. The only reason I'm giving them one star is that giving zero stars is not an option. I had their alarm monitoring in Houston, and due to a job change was forced to sell my home and move. When I went to cancel my alarm monitoring just prior to closing on the sale of my home, I was told that my contract (which had been for three years!), had automatically renewed about three weeks previously for another year. This without a letter, e-mail, or any form of communication whatsoever from Connect One that this was going to occur. I was showing my home and had a keybox on the door, so I didn't even use the alarm the last two months I was in the home. I could have terminated my contract at the end of three years, and even if it was after that, I would have been perfectly willing to pay them a month or even two to terminate my service, but Bryan Fish, the "Customer Service Manager" was like a broken record...."it's in the contract you signed", "there's nothing I can do". Over and over again. The contract I signed was in a box in a storage unit, and was signed three years previously. "Customer Service" Manager.....there's an oxymoron for you. Customer service While what they are doing might be legal, it is unethical in a big way. They automatically sign you up for another year with no notice or warning, and tell you after the fact basically "ha-ha, we've got another $300 - $400 that we're going to suck out of your wallet because we can". They don't offer a month to month after the 3 year contract is up, and if you don't cancel 30 days before the 3 year period is up, you're stuck with them for a 4th year. I recently had my TV mounted by ConnectOne and was very happy with the results because it involved drilling into a new granite fireplace. Scott was the tech and was very professional. He made sure I was satisfied with the placement and height of the TV before proceeding. Scott also told me about their smart home technology that's featured in a tour within their own corporate office. My husband and I went over to check it out as we will be planning some other media options in the next year after we settle into our new home. I highly recommend taking the tour (open to the public). It was very educational to walk through the model home area as if you were in someone's real home and experience what a smart home is all about. They even show you behind the scenes components like the servers that drive the whole thing. We were referred by a friend in the home building business and very glad we found them. read more

I went to view their services, they were a little pricey however, I although I didn't purchase anything I was told I would still receive a free Ring doorbell. After six months passed and I had not received the free gift I called back to ask of its whereabouts, I recban apology and was told they would put it in the mail on that day. I wanted to update my review for ConnectOne Secutiry. I received a phone call the next day from Wendy Lyndsey. She immediately worked to help me resolve the problem and helped to deescalate the stress to deactivate the bad alarm system. She is a great representative for this company in that she took full accountability and didn't pass it on - at one point she reached out for additional assistance to guide me appropriately. She called back yesterday as a follow-up to make sure I was completely satisfied with the actions taken. This was even more of a surprise at the extent to which she was committed to follow-through with customers. I asked for her supervisor and spoke with Barb Matusik. She further explained that I had been misdirected to a department initially that was not able to help me and that she had made some changes in the process to avoid the situation that had happened to me. She also stated that my initial review had been received and contact with me was forthcoming after the process changes had been made. It's clear that Yelp is providing valuable and immediate feedback for companies to manage. My rating has changed based on customer service from Wendy and the Barb to not only check-in but to make changes to avoid problems going forward. DO NOT GO HERE! We had our security and media system installed by this company and it was the worst experience we have ever had. For starters ever appointment mad they were late or did not show. Then the system they installed still doesn't work properly and we can't get anyone out to make it work. We have since canceled our security monitoring through them and unfortunately having to have another company come out and install the media system properly at our expense. what a waist and 10,000$ for a 4,000$ system that doesn't work is a rip off! Too bad there is not a way to to give 0 stars. This would be a great example of poor business ethics and business tactics. All poor reviews you read are 100% accurate. Don't do business with this crooked business. I signed a 3 year contract understanding that it is usual when installing a new system. I understand they need to get their money back out of the equipment. HOWEVER, what no one will tell you is that if you do not cancel exactly at the end at 3 years you WILL be renewed without any notice or warning. Supposedly it's buried in the 12 pages of contracts you sign in the beginning. So about 6 months before I knew my 3 years was ending I called to verify when the last day was. The operator told me a 30 day written notice was required and conveniently failed to inform me that if I didn't cancel in time I would be automatically enrolled for an additional 12 months. So when I called today and spoke with a representative it was very clear they are struggling to maintain business and needing to strong arm customer into sticking with the contract. Literally no consideration or willingness to help resolve the issue. I even mentioned that after research I uncovered this terrible business practice and that most of their customers are very unhappy at the end because of this. So what does the representative tell me? Yes, we understand, that is why we no longer have that language in our contracts for new customers and don't make them auto renew. So what does that mean for customers who had this in their contracts? Too bad. Your screwed. Again, if they are so worried about loosing customers, go back to the basics. Think about the experience you give your customers. Everyone needs home security, have ethical business practices and customers will come. Zero stars if that's possible. All the negative reviews here are true. Poor customer service and poor service. It wasn't until we went with another company that the WiFi wasn't even working. I found it strange when we accidentally set off the alarm and we NEVER got a call from them or a police NEVER came. They are so incompetent. They are sending me a bill when the person that is on the contract is my husband. Why should I pay for a remaining balance because they auto renewed after the three year contract when basically I DIDNT have service for 3 years. Also, when my husband called to cancel, the incompetent person told him to call in October when the contract ends. That is a scam and deceiving. They knew that we had to give notice 30 days prior to contract ending but they didn't mention it. Then we send them a letter stating that we want to cancel. It has been months and I'm still getting a bill. Appararently, they didn't receive the letter. Oh how convenient. If you want POOR service and basically NO alarm security then go through this scam of a company. I will NOT recommend this company to anyone. They should close down their business! read more

Do NOT give this company your business! I used them for security and AV systems in my new home. They took ALOT of my money! Got 3 cheap $20 cameras and a crappy DVR system that cost me over $1700 to install and it sucks! These people have no idea what they are doing. I've had 5 different people tell me 5 different things every time they come out to remedy the situation. I had a break in and the system didn't even capture it as an event. Had to watch HOURS of video to finally see the loser who broke into my vehicle, then the quality was so bad, you couldn't ever ID the guy! Have had problems since day one. They didn't show up for appointments, they have crappy customer service...offered to change out cameras , but they were no better than what I had! I finally bought an awesome LOREX system thru COSTCO much cheaper with six 1080p cameras and an HD recorder and am paying someone to install it! SCREW you Connect One...Am canceling my security monitoring with them too... not another penny is going to this company! read more

Be careful. They are very hard to get on phone, especially for billing issues. Very difficult to resolve problems with accounts too, since service agreements are apparently sold to a third party. The business then says that they have no control over the third party. So You have to deal with the third party for billing issues from that point forward. Very aggressive on their contract and interpretation of terms. I was customer for about 3.5 years and then needed to terminate my service. It took two months before they stopped charging my credit card and then the third party tried to say that I owed them for another six months of service. The contract does not say you can't terminate, but they interpret it to require continued service for rest of the contract year even if you have been with them for years. Under their interpretation you must give notice to terminate before the end of the contract year otherwise you owe a whole extra year. A real scam. Beware. read more

This is the worst company I have dealt with. The whole experience made me ensure that I will NEVER do any business with them again. Their employees are more interested in what is not covered by their warranty than good customer service. I had a cat 5 cable install paid for they did not complete, when reported they sent two different techs out to finish the install. The cable they were to install was left hanging in the attic and was never brought in the control box. The techs that came to finish the job said this is considered warranty work and it is not under warranty since I had gotten additional wiring done for satellite (Dish). They both could not find paperwork which said they (Connect One Security) had done the work. I provided the paperwork for the payment I had made for this cat 5 cable install. They finally agreed when I provided documentation and completed installing cable; it was almost four months after it was paid for. Techs are ignorant and rude, their salespeople are liars. Stay away from this and find someone else. There are plenty of others that provide same services that they offer. read more
