Horrible service. From insurance approval to actually getting it scheduled was 7 months! As many others commented no one calls back. They don't return phone calls to me or my insurance company. I finally filed a grievance at my insurance company's suggestion and am starting all over with a new office. I met Dr Cox for about 5 minutes in May. Incompetence in the office absolutely horrible. I was scheduled to have a Colonoscopy it took five months to get all the insurance approvals and a date to get the procedure. I had the authorization time and date and all paperwork, I started my fast as directed and I was getting ready to do my prep and drink the nasty stuff , and my girlfriend who was going to pick me up after the procedure had a gut feeling to call the office and confirm everything. We'll when she called CoxCare she was informed that the person in the office forgot to put me on the schedule for my procedure. Five months of my time and stress wasted and all they could say was sorry. I dont have enough expletives to describe my feelings right now. Dr Cox is one of the most caring doctors I have had the pleasure to be prescribed to. I had a number of drs turn down my HMO insurance, regardless that I was suffering from stage 4 esophageal cancer. Dr Cox saw me even regardless of my insurance and performed a endoscopy despite being in the middle of the winter holidays. I have sometimes had to wait a while to see him at his office, but that is because he takes his time with his patients, something that I have not always felt with other doctors. I highly recommend Dr. Cox despite any negative comments from other patients. read more

Terrible front desk employee attitude. My 77 yr old mother is handicapped and OLGA would not let her seat in the waiting room even though there were seats available. Selfish, rude attitude. I'm also a patient from dr cox and she also ask me to wait outside standing up even though there was plenty of seats. Hear me now believe me later. Dr Cox and his office are amazing. Now I want to be specific for the colonoscopy I got a few weeks ago. To put it bluntly I was SCARED of having the procedure done because after my heart attack I was afraid I wouldn't wake up from sedation. I dreaded the day and felt as if I would cancel. The day before I took this disgusting stuff I had to drink to flush my bowels that tasted like the lime Gatorade you buy at the store but super super salty. Had to do it twice and boy did it work. I figured I was at the point of no return and had to get it done. Forward to the morning. Went to Optum surgical center and waited less than 10 minutes and was brought in. Hospital gown was put on and an iv was expertly put in (I'm a needle phobe) by I believe one of Dr Cox nurses. Super super sweet lady. Answered all my questions and honestly put me to ease. She told me I would love Dr Cox surgical nurse and you know what? She was completely right!! I went from one amazing nurse to another amazing nurse along with an another nurse that was waiting in the procedure room. They were amazing. They told me the importance of the procedure and that I was doing the right thing in getting it done. They made me feel calm and relaxed about being out on ultra light sedation. When the doctor arrived it went quickly. The medication was placed in my IV and I was told it would take a minute to work. I said I was scared and the nurse said I was going to be all right and in good hands since she said that she would keep an eye on me throughout. A few seconds later I said I was feeling sleepy (bam! I was out)." I woke up with what seemed a second later. Put on my clothes and left home to relax. AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. !! You can't go wrong with this doctor or his staff. After months of getting the run around and attempting to get an appointment with a GI and quite honestly making myself crazy in the process I was finally able to get in to see Dr. Cox. I did have to wait a little longer than I had wanted to get in for an appointment but my patience paid off. Dr. Cox was amazing at listening to my concerns and getting the ball running and giving me a game plan to making the best of the given situation. I left his office feeling a significant amount of relief and hope for the future (which is something I've been really struggling with lately). I went to see this provider in December was diagnosed with IBS provider prescribed RX for Linzess. To this day I still have not rec'd my medication. My insurance stated that Prior Auth was needed and the one that front office submitted was wrong. I have spoken to many staff in front office and explained what insurance needs nothing has been done. Whats the use of going to good provider when his staff can't even do their job correctly. I spoke to someone today trying to get update from my last call and only to find out that insurance wasn't even called and that she was never given the message. Was told that nothing could be done and that their part had been done. And the sad part is that this is not the first time that this has happened. I was referred to Dr. Cox by my Primary and I'm very Happy she did!!!!! I'm surprised about the negative reviews however I don't let negative reviews keep me from experiencing a positive experience because you don't get the FULL STORY on Yelp since the reviews are ONE-SIDED!!!!!!! I had a colonoscopy & endoscopy performed by Dr. Cox at Garden Grove Surgical Center on Harbor Blvd and my ENTIRE experience was POSITIVE!!!! So as not to repeat myself see my review on GG Surgical center!!! I'm VERY HAPPY with Dr. Cox being my GI doctor, friendly personality, qualified, patient, great laugh and his staff is 5+ stars as well!!!!!! After my procedures were over Dr. Cox said a few things, shook my hand then Shanene patiently explained my results going over several sheets of paperwork, his findings, etc....., Hubby came in too help me dress then I was put in a wheelchair by Shanene and we were off!!!! Dr. Cox seems to be a fine doctor, but once again, the staff lacks competency. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy, that went fine, the doctor wanted me to have a CT Scan. It took almost a month to get the authorization. Had the procedure done; then it took another month for the results. They found an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Dr. Cox said he would forward the info to my primary dr. I waited a week and called her. Her office had not received it. I called Dr. Cox office and got a message that the voicemail was full. I called again and got a human. She asked me for my dr's fax number. I told her I didn't have it but gave her the dr's phone number. It is frightening how incompetent the medical offices are these days. People could die from the lack of concern or competence. If they don't like their job, go work someplace else where not much thinking is required. read more

This office got 1 star because I had to provide a rating. Aida is rude, unprofessional, retaliatory, and her conduct is COMPLETELY UNBECOMING FOR ANYONE WORKING IN PATIENT CARE FACILITIES. This person has no business working in a patient care facility. She apologized for being rude and for being less than helpful. I immediately contacted my insurance company and filed a complaint because Aida retaliated against me for disputing her behavior. I called from my phone number approximately 5 times and no one answered. Then I called from a different number and Aida picked up the phone on the 2nd ring. I had to block my number so that my phone call would be answered. The patient in this case is on borrowed time and this employee DID NOT CARE. I also left a message for the office manager to no avail. Aida attempted to make medical decisions claiming to be the Dr's nurse but I requested the information come from the dr himself as he is an MD. I highly doubt that Aida is an RN because she is completely and utterly unethical and unprofessional. But I intend on contacting the licensing agencies to find out so I can file a complaint against Aida and possibly have the practice reviewed. I inclusively asked my insurance company to drop this office as the staff's behavior is counterproductive to patient care. If Dr. Cox wants to retain his patients he needs to fire Aida and replace her with someone that is efficient, effective, and professional. Thank God that Dr. Cox is not the only Gastroenterologist in the world. I am also asking my insurance to monitor my husband's information that is in the system which is available to this employee because I do not trust that she will abide by HIPAA LAWS. This medical service practices shady setup for unscrupulous billings to unsuspected consumer, even with good insurance coverage. I checked with Blue Cross/Blue Shield representative about a common preventative colonoscopy check-up and were told that it is a no cost procedure if done by an In-Network provider. I went with Coxcare, Inc. for this reason, but what happened in regards to billings was a total surprise. I was billed twice for the procedure; totaling about $1400. Many attempts to have this office reverse the way they invoiced through the billing codes had failed. Instead of a no cost check-up, they billed it under elective diagnostic service code and the consumer bears the full burden of unapproved service charges. read more

I see why this office has 2.5 stars. The front desk staff needs customer service training. I work in healthcare and never have I ever experienced or told a patient "Do what you want" or "Do you want us to send it or not?!" With an attitude, after being wrong. The front will always be a patients first point of contact and all staff is a direct reflection of the Provider they work for. It is unfortunate that the representation of this Doctor is very poor. I would suggest extensive training or the staff to get on unemployment if they are unhappy with their job. Patients come to seek treatment and at times may be in pain. At no point should a patient be made to feel worse than they already do by incompetent staff with poor coping mechanisms. It is not a patient's responsibility to make sure your work load is tolerable to have a pleasant experience. Staff clocks in and out with a paycheck that reflects the amount of patients seen by their boss (The Doctor). They should remember that without patients being seen they have no paycheck. The fact that a patient had to hang up before the conversation got out of hand is unacceptable. Please consider training. I wish I could leave zero stars. I assume all patients are treated the same so I do not understand why anyone goes there. All patients should be treated with respect. read more

I called to arrange a colonoscopy and gave the staff my insurance information. I arrive for the consultation, see the doctor and then get an appointment date and time for my colonoscopy. 3 days before the procedure, my pharmacy has not receieved the prescription for the cleansing fluid. So I call Dr. Cox and that is when the staff informs me they do not accept my insurance. I ask them for my $80.00 back for the wasted office visit. The staff responded with "they use a third party to bill and they won't return my money". I then asked the staff why would they arrange a consulation knowing that this doctor does not take my insurance for the procedure? I again asked for my $80.00 back, they said no. I asked for Dr. Cox to call me and explain why his staff would charge me the $80.00 for a consulatation when they knew this office does not take my insurance for this colonoscopy procedure? He did not call me back. I have never written a negative review before, but I felt Dr. Cox and his staff have stolen my money. If you would like to do the right thing and fix your mistake (not checking you accept my insurance ahead of time) and return my money, just ask the staff to call me. read more

Dr Cox is profoundly unprofessional. He couldn't figure out how to adequately sedate my husband for his colonoscopy and endoscopy and then blamed my husband for it. What kind of a doctor tries to shove a camera down the throat of a fully awake and conscious patient?!?! Then, at bedside when he was supposed to be answering our questions, he answered his cell phone while standing right in front of us and used another patient's first and last name. I was absolutely appalled!!!! What a flagrant violation of HIPAA!!! Dr. Conrad A Cox is a good doctor that cares for his patients, compassionate and has a big heart for them as well. After a patient has a procedure, it is the responsibility of the patient to make a follow up appointment, and then show up for the appointment. Usually the appointments are 2-3 weeks out from the date of your procedure. Dr. Cox takes time in explaining to his patients what the procedure entails, you as a patient will be more knowledgeable of your condition, and treated with dignity and respect in his office via the phone call to make the initial consultation visit through to the follow up. read more
