I had my colonoscopy in December with Dr. Ghoshtasbi. The experience itself was pleasant and efficient, and all the staff are warm and professional in person. Another thing I appreciate is that in the printout report I was given immediately after the procedure, there are multiple photographs of my insides, and my polyp is circled in the photo. (My husband had a recent recent colonoscopy at a completely different provider, and his polyp was not indicated on the photos... that's the only way my experience was better than his.) However I cannot recommend this office to anyone because it is completely impossible to contact the office. If you call during office hours, you are connected to an AI. The AI cannot schedule appointments or much of anything else useful. The AI crashed when I tried to leave a message. I even tried to send a fax, and the fax failed. I should've let that be my warning not to get an appointment for consultation, because communication with office staff didn't get any better after the consultation. read more

Maybe a few months ago. Shortly before that appointment date, I was advised that Dr. Patel had a family emergency and had to leave the country. No worries - we rescheduled. Fast forward to today - the date of my rescheduled appointment and I received a voice mail that Dr. Patel couldn't make it into her own office today. When I tried to call back, I received a recording that the "answering service for this business is out of order" or some crap. Once I was able to reach a human that decided to work today, I immediately canceled forever. There is no possibility that they can handle my care when they cannot even handle their own scheduling, phone system, or showing up for appointments. read more

The two stars is only because the staff was perfectly lovely. BUT if you are a woman with any neurodivergencies, DO NOT SEE Dr. Huang. My experience with Dr Huang genuinely haunts me, as one of the worst experiences I've ever had in any medical context. It has been a while, but I was encouraged to come say my piece better late than never. I went to him with a series of issues and symptoms, well documented for many many months. At the time I was throwing up 3-5 times a day against my will, partnered with awful abdominal pain and chronic fatigue. We had a virtual appointment, and he was listening to my symptoms as normal. but once he saw my medication list and saw I have a mental health diagnosis- he immediately went totally cold and dismissive. Like I was wasting his time. I literally can see his face now. I was emotional trying to explain the struggle of what I was experiencing. But he said that in his "expert opinion" there was NOTHING wrong with me, and my mental health was the cause of me THINKING something was wrong.... i was so confused an devastated, i just asked "you're not even gonna check if something is wrong?" And that's when he said one of the worst things he could say- "I could do an upper endoscopy if you WANT.... But I'm 99.99% sure I won't find anything wrong" Well, i never saw him again, I was utterly devastated with my treatment, after waiting months to see him. BUTTT guess what? I did get that upper endoscopy at another practice- Turns out I had 1. CHRONIC GASTRITIS, 2. BARRETS ESOPHAGUS, and 3. multiple vitamin deficiencies found through blood work (that he didn't bother to do) Essentially- he couldn't have been more wrong. But he delayed me getting adequate care by making me have to fight to even be seen as a Person beyond medications on a chart. I'll never forget the way his face changed, the way the care left his voice as he just assumed maybe some people have had good experiences with Dr Huang, but the way he spoke to me and the things he said still haunt me- an example of some of the worst of what women and neurodivergent people face just in seeking diagnoses. If these things apply to you, and you've been struggling to find/waiting to get in with a good doctor who actually cares to help you.... Do not risk it with Dr Huang. read more

I have an appointment coming up and have been trying g to reach someone at the office and it's been IMPOSSIBLE! You get sent through this automated looping cycle that takes you no where and when you can figure out how to get to the front desk to talk to someone you get sent to a voicemail that is full and cannot leave a message. 12:44 I arrived, for a 1:00 appointment. I believe they requested I arrive 15 minutes prior to fill out paperwork. Please note the office is closed and the door locked for lunch between 12-1. They do not take calls at this time. I suggested they update their hours here and online. 1:01 office door unlocked for me and 2 people were already seated in the waiting room for their 1:00. I waited in line for intake paperwork. 1:10 paperwork received and I worked through the pages. 1:25 waited in line to submit paperwork. 1:35 submitted paperwork. 1:41 taken in back to an exam room with PA. 2:10 intake appointment completed. Wait for scheduling my procedure appointment. 2:18 called to the desk to schedule appointment. 2:24 out the door. About 1.75 hours for a new patient to get prepped and book a colonoscopy. The PA was very helpful and knowledgeable! She was also trying to support the reception staff to move people through and finish paperwork inside the exam rooms while they wait. While waiting in the lobby, I heard one man and another woman complain that their phone calls were not returned so they came to the office themselves. One receptionist is also new so she is learning and being positive, but her inexperience doesn't help the lag times. At home I realized I had to reschedule my procedure so I called the office and the scheduler voicemail was as full. I left a voicemail in the Billing department. Wrote a note from their website a few weeks prior, but I don't remember getting a response. ZERO stars! This place is a scam and a half! This establishment exists solely for the purpose of billing insurance companies and NOT for the patients. I've been a patient here since 2017 and as of now, I QUIT! I will NEVER be a patient of United Medical Doctors/LB Gastroenterology Associates ever again! Over the past few years, they have treated me so poorly as a human being and all they want to do is make me have a colonoscopy so that they can bill my insurance! After the latest escapade with this place, I found a new GI practice and a new GI doctor that has even questioned their practices. I needed a medication refill, so I called them to leave a message with the doctor to renew the prescription. I had the lovely experience of dealing with the medical assistant over the phone with her snot nose school girl attitude. She tells me I haven't had an appointment there within the last year, so they can't provide any refills. This was a bold faced lie. The doctor called me multiple times within the past calendar year (Telehealth appts) and the appointments were never documented in their system. I was then told there was nothing they could do other than make me an appt. The first available appt was 3-4 weeks out, a Telehealth appt, and with a physician I had never even seen! The entire time I was on the phone, the medical assistant talked to me as if I were an uneducated idiot, yet here I have advanced level medical degrees and multiple medical licenses - levels above her! Her lack of knowledge and requiring me to have an appt caused me to be over a month late for my next dose of biologic medication! The day before the Telehealth appt with the doctor who I had never seen, I received a call from a so called nurse asking me if I had any records because she doesn't have them. So you're telling me I've been a patient there since 2017 and you don't have 8 years of my records??? She then was giving me the third degree about why I booked a Telehealth appt instead of coming into the office in person and she even asked me where I lived! I was livid! Their office booked me this appt! Here I was a month late on my meds and you are worried about my address and have none of my records? What a joke! The Telehealth appt was the worst doctor's appt I've ever experienced in my life. I've dealt with at least 20 doctors in the past 3 years and this was the worst experience. Not listening, interrupting me, dismissing my concerns, pushing a colonoscopy when I don't even know you! The doctor was on and off the phone in less than 5 minutes and they billed my insurance over $200 for this! After this terrible appointment, one of my family members who was scheduled for a GI procedure here cancelled their procedure! Yes, it was that bad!! Found a new GI doctor who explained more to me in one appointment than I've ever been told the entire time I have been a patient here at LB gastro. He has even questioned their practices here. I have now found out that there are multiple diagnostic tests that should be completed annually which LB gastro has NOT been doing. Additionally, I learned that in order to renew a biological medication prescription, all the doctor's office is legally required to provide to the insurance/specialty pharmacy is a blood test/fecal testing to get the prescription renewed. Colonoscopy results are NOT required for this! LB gastro has repeatedly LIED to me telling me they need to do a colonoscopy in order to renew my prescription! This is UNBELIEVABLE! I also found out that I have the option of doing my next colonoscopy awake without anesthesia (I become very ill from the anesthesia and LB gastro will not give me any other options for this procedure!). Since being sold to United Medical, the office has become completely dysfunctional. I showed up for my scheduled colonoscopy after having completed all the (unpleasant) prep and was told I was scheduled for a month later. To make things worse the office staff refused to own the error even after being shown my appointment card where they had written it down themselves. It's ok to make mistakes, but don't gaslight me and say a 6 is a 7 just to cover your butt. I have heard similar reports from many other patients who have been unable to even get test results following their procedures. It's very sad. Dr Zamost built a reliable, trustworthy business and it's been completely destroyed by United in no time. My advice is to avoid this practice going forward at all costs . read more

Never thought I'd say this, but I just had the best experience at this office. I read reviews prior to selecting my provider. Most of the low reviews were about poor customer service by admin, not the provider. That wasn't going to be an issue for me since I generally stay on top of things. From scheduling the consult, to the actual procedure, things went smooth for the most part. I selected Dr. Patel to perform my procedure. Just the consult alone, she knew right away what the results will likely be. I was scheduled a month and a half out, but ended up rescheduling (another month out) because I wanted to be fully sedated instead of the conscious sedation that my health insurance covered. Today, the day of the procedure, went extremely smooth! Staff was great. Nurse Stephanie took me in and prepped me. She really comforted me since it was my first time ever being in a hospital setting and hooked to an IV. She also reassured me that I was in good hands with an excellent team. Indeed she was right! From anesthesiologist Dr. Lebeau (unsure of the spelling), to nurse Teresa, then of course Dr. Patel! They introduced themselves then went over the procedure prior to transferring me to the op room. They literally all had great personalities with a sense of humor! Definitely the 'Dream Team'. I was out in no time. Post procedure, Dr. Patel went over results which was exactly as she thought during my consult. Nurse Sarah also took very good care of me and pushed me on a wheelchair to my ride. It's true that the billing department can be a little difficult to deal with but you just have to be persistent and stay on top of it. There was one hiccup throughout the entire process, and that was forgetting to send the prep solution Rx to my pharmacy. It was taken cared right away the moment I inquired about it. I got lucky to end up with a great team. Exceptional experience! read more

REVIEW of the scheduling experience for routine colongscopy ONLY! UGH! This office has a scheduler who works out of state and works on Wed and Saturday for a third party company, apparently. This third party schedules your routine procedure. Because she only works two days a week, calling any time other than a Wed (I learned that even though the scheduler works Sat, the phones are NOT ANSWERED)...no one can help you...nope, no one in the MD office can help. And yes, even though the MD office has your insurance info (from your initial phone call), you must once again confirm it with the third party. I am a boomer, a retired RN, but quite proficient with tech and well versed in medical environments and even so, I am fed appalled! read more

Scheduling for an appointment is an inconvenience. Husband was referred to the liver specialist sometime in April. We called to schedule an appointment and we were told May to July schedule is full and have to call back for August as they were not sure when it will open. We requested from primary an extension of the referral authorization for him to be seen in August. Called again today and was told August is full and whoever we previously spoke with scheduling misspoke and we are technically waiting for the October schedule. Now, we have to call primary again to request extension of the authorization after October. They can't even give a timeframe on when the October schedule for the specialist will open up. This office needs to re evaluate their process for scheduling. It is unfortunate to hear how the quality of customer care has gone downhill. read more

Reception is a joke. Told me I needed to have another teledoc appointment because my doctor had left the practice and to see anyone else I needed a consultation. They gave the doctor completely wrong information and scheduled a teledoc appointment that I didn't even need to have. The doctor calls me and basically tells me that he cannot perform the procedure that I need and to call my original doctor at his new practice. But, they still charged me for the call of course. Get to the pick up site. Call to let them know I'm there on the intercom only to find out that that he hadn't had his surgery yet and that the text that I received was a mistake and that I'll just have to wait a little longer. I read reviews before going. Let me tell you about my amazing experience. Check in was easy. Once admitted to pre op, Teresa, my nurse, was so sweet and calming. She explained what my procedure would entail, which Dr was doing what and that they both will be by to explain it with me again. My procedure went very well. They make sure you do have a ride and won't let you leave until your person is there to pick you up. They also made sure I was so comfortable giving me warm blankets and booties. I called to schedule an appointment for my colonoscopy. Gave all my information and given my appointment. Told I had to have a driver. And to arrive 15 before. Took a half day off work along with my fiancé who was going to drive me. We show up and the receptionist asks my fiancé if she was here for moral support. She responds and says no I was told it was required for him to have a driver for his colonoscopy. He responds by saying no this is just a consultation. And it will be $55 copay on top of what my PPO insurance pays. I responded and said I am being charged to do vitals and a 6 question health history. Which no vitals were ever done. Erica Williams was my PA. She asked me how I was. I said upset and frustrated. She responds and said this will be quick. Never asked me what was bothering me. Was cold as ice and rushed to get out of the room. I am a doctor and this was a total money grab to bill my insurance an extra visit. So I lost half days of income at work. My fiancé was also inconvenienced and I had to pay $55 to answer questions and then meet with the scheduler to schedule the actual colonoscopy appointment. Isn't this something that could have been handled on the original day I scheduled the appointment? I wasn't even given verbal instructions by the scheduler. She gave me paperwork without making any really effort I understood the steps required to prepare for my colonoscopy. When I was asked by the scheduler how my day was and I said I am annoyed with my experience here, she too came across dismissive. She just said sorry without wanting to know why I was upset and said we will get you out soon. Maybe if I could have shared why I was frustrated I wouldn't be leaving this review. The office was completely empty and seems it's a sign that this place has terrible business policies. I was just a number. The staff don't appear to enjoy their jobs. The customer service I would give zero stars. Looking at all the one star reviews tells me this has been an ongoing problem for a while. Now I have to go back and am apprehensive to go back. If they are this poor with client care, will the colonoscopy be as bad as my first experience. I won't be surprised when then gauge me for more money. The 2 hours I spent today was a total waste of time and can't get back. I will be sharing this awful experience with all the Long Beach doctors I work with and advocate to not refer their patients to this place. Never had a good experience with these guys. From my first appointment here I was undermined and not listened to by the specialist. Told to have a procedure without any GOOD reason, and then had no results from the procedure (shocking). Then was told to do the banding process (why was I not offered this first?). The only reason I have two stars is because the gentleman who did my banding was rather informative (unlike everyone else in that building). Then I had the WORST experience with the billing department being told one thing and then getting mailed another and having to contact the billing department (who by the way is VERY rude and takes forever to contact). Started going there in 2015 and they were great place however its gone to crap a year ago my doctor left and they didn't bother to notify me until i called to schedule an appointment and they assigned me another doctor which i saw him. now 6 months later i called to scheduled a follow up appointment and they told me he left a couple of months ago and the remaining 3 doctors are all booked up for the next 60 days and i was put on a waiting list and told to call back in a week to see if the November schedule is posted. Something must be going on there lots of doctors and nurses have been leaving its so unfortunate because that place was a great place to go and now i book an appointment with my original doctor whose practice is 45 minute drive away but he is worth the drive read more

This was, hands down, the worst experience I have ever had with a medical office. The doctor I saw was extremely hard to communicate with and it took at least 3 months to get an appointment both times. At the second appointment, he would not listen to any of my concerns, denied my request for imaging because he assumed my illness was psychosomatic, and told me that I did not need surgery. His diagnosis was dangerously incorrect, because 2 months later I ended up in the ER having emergency surgery. He still had the gall to charge me for the incorrect diagnosis, though. And no one at the office was willing to discuss that, either. read more

I can't speak for the doctors but their receptionist staff was not helpful at all! I have an EPO that works as a PPO and tried to make an appointment as a new paitient. The first call I had she said that they took PPO and not EPO. So I said thank you and hung up. I then checked my insurance plan and it said Long Beach Gastro Associates is IN NETWORK, so I called back and asked there was a way that she can check on her end because my insurance says they are IN NETWORK. All she said was "We take PPO not EPO" I said that its funny because I have been to some offices that do not take EPO and only PPO and they have accepted my insurance so if she could please check she again said "We take PPO not EPO". Do not bother, as they do not do their due diligence to really make sure you are covered to see their doctors. read more

This practice has gone downhill since COVID. Most of the original doctors have left. They don't have appointments available and have become very sloppy with their procedure follow up, as in forgetting to do it. The doctor I saw was rude, did not care to listen, and rushed each time I saw him. I'm looking for a new doctor. The nurses are nice and the scheduling staff are lovely. The office staff and onerous phone system make booking an appointment with this office painful. It took nearly a minute to wade through their phone system. It seems like every medical office feels the need to say "if this is an emergency hang up and dial 911" We all know this. I was put on hold for about 8 minutes and had to hang up because I had other things to do. Who has time to deal with a poorly run office? I called back later in the afternoon at about 4:25. After few minutes on the phone wasting my time. It turns out they are closed. It would be really helpful if the Dr who owns this business actually called and dealt with the phone system himself. This is a long overdue review of Dr. Saeid Goshtasbi. In 2017, I started experiencing health related issues with my colon. I was freaking out, both my dad and his dad dealt with colon cancer and prostate issues. My dad survived because his health issues were detected in the early stages. My grandfather on the other hand, died in a very prolonged and painful process. With that in mind, I was terrified when my issues started. I initially discussed the issues with my regular doctor during my annual physical exam, but he advised that because I was in my early 40's the probability of me developing any types of cancers were low. He ordered some lab work that came back negative, but I still had no peace of mind since I kept thinking of both my dad and my grandpa. I did some research and found Dr. Goshtasbi on line and decided to self refer for a second opinion. When I met Dr. Goshtasbi, he put me at easy and explained the various factors that could be creating the symptoms I was experiencing. He was also super funny and personal. In the end, he recommended a colonoscopy because of the high risk history in my family. The Colonoscopy process was fast, easy, and painless. He was correct on his assessment but removed the polyps he found in the process. They were non cancerous so now I'm at peace. I have to admit that is hard to write something so personal in a review, but Dr. Goshtasbi was great and professional throughout the whole process. read more
