This unassuming movie theater located off Hwy 4 is really AWESOME! With movies releasing on DVD/streaming within a few months and the actual movie going experience getting increasingly more expensive over the years - I don't find myself going often. Once in awhile there will be a movie I really want to see & support in theater though and usually I will choose to support a smaller and local business if possible. (Frankly, I don't need most of the frills of the fancy places anyway - 3D movies & IMAX don't interest me all that much). My favorite spot is definitely the Alameda Theatre and Cineplex but this one is a pretty close second. I visited here a few times before the pandemic and had positive experiences. They were forced to close entirely for a long time (the jumbo sign outside that usually advertises current movies was replaced with a VERY bittersweet message saying they will be back). I was worried they would close permanently but after more than a year they FINALLY did reopen! I was in disbelief to see that $5 Tues are still a thing! Also the pricing for General Admission is $12 while Matinee is $8.50 (all shows before 4pm) which is STILL cheaper than the big chain theaters in the nearby cities. You can reserve your seats in advance online or just check to see how crowded/busy a particular showing will be before you even go. Their website isn't super fancy but it works fine. Of course you can buy tickets at the box office day of but there is only 1 or 2 staff members at the counter assisting you so there might be a wait. If you like aisle seats like me, some aisle seats are actually next to the wall so if you do arrive late, you actually will need to walk through the entire row to get to your seat. Air conditioning (so relaxing on a hot day) and stadium seating is nice. I do appreciate the fanciness of the reclining chairs with very comfortable foot rests. Attached tray tables are available if you choose to snack...or take a nap?! Restroom facilities are okay - clean enough haha (although the day I went there was a sign up saying there was plumbing issues which had me worried about using it). My most recent visit was to support Easter Sunday and it was a fun time. It wasn't super busy at the showing I went to and almost everyone in my theater were masked up ( I don't think it was mandatory). I felt uneasy about being in a movie theater for hours to begin with but the experience was much better than expected. There was some minor issues with the sound before the previews but someone told the manager and he stuck around for awhile to make sure the movie played correctly. The one annoying thing about the location that could be improved is while it's conveniently located off the freeway the parking lot is QUITE small. There isn't that much space to expand it unless they built a parking structure similar to Alameda? There is a shopping plaza across the street and people probably chance it and park over there instead but not sure how much strict the enforcement is though. Small concession stand but I've never tried it and now post pandemic I personally am not eating during a movie anytime soon. If you find yourself in the area or looking for a theater away from all the hustle and bustle - this is the perfect place for you. They have been around for decades and like many businesses were hit hard by the pandemic. Support this awesome independently owned theater so hopefully they can be around for decades more! read more

We were excited to be the only couple for the 2:20 showing today, but our excitement didn't last long. I really wish someone wouldve told us that the AC wasn't working in theatre 3 BEFORE we went in. About halfway through the movie it got so hot in there that i was fanning myself with napkins and my poor husband was sweating and took his shirt off. As we were leaving we saw a, paper sign on the door about the ac not working properly. The extreme heat made our movie pretty miserable. read more

Poor customer service at the snack bar. To improve customer service at the snack bar, they could focus on training staff to be friendly, and efficient making sure they can support all customers at the early morning showings. Apparently if you are at the first showing of the day they cannot serve you. Good times. read more

This is now my favorite local movie theater. It is clean, shows first run movies, has discounted movies on Tuesday, it isn't hard to park, and my number one reason for going here, other than the previews, is the movies are not too loud. I do not like to pay $4.50 for a regular size soda, I suppose they have to make money somehow, midweek early shows the theater is empty. read more

I really like this small, recently renovated theater because it has all the amenities of the larger theaters surrounding it: recliner chairs, luxury recliner chairs (which reclines in a fancier way), Dolby Atmos sound, and reserved seating with options to purchase seats on Fandango. I have an issue with this though because the seat map on Fandango where you choose where you would like to sit does not mirror the way the theater actually looks. So what I thought were aisle seats weren't. The theater attendants were happy to change the seats for me though. I've had this issue with other theaters. The theaters renovate their auditoriums then forget to update their maps on Fandango. The theater has multiple snack options at more reasonable prices. And their tickets are a bit cheaper too. Keep in mind that because the theater is smaller, there are a lot less seats, so consider coming early, going on weekdays or purchasing on Fandango. read more

Didn't think much of it looking from the outside. Looked dated. Prices were not expensive. However, once inside the seats were nice and cozy reclining lounge chairs with tray. One of the few true mom & pop cinemas that is top notch with the best recliners in all of the East Bay! What did I see?: Over 70+ movies in the past 2 years at this theater. My girlfriend and I have been going to $5 Tuesday movies here for the last 2 years and have proudly accumulated 70+ movies. What is the ambiance like?: It is one of the last remaining mom & pop cinemas. Don't come here expecting top of the line food and drink. They have the regular movie staples along with alcohol. They recently finished remodeling and have added around 4 new theaters with brand new recliners. The crowd varies per movie but since it's not a newer theater, it's mainly locals. What is the price level?: $5 Tuesdays, that's all I've ever been to. Can't beat the price for the quality recliners that lean the furthest out of all other theaters from Pleasant Hill to Brentwood. What is the parking situation?: Pretty large parking lot that gets full when there are a lot of movies going on during the summer. Never an issue to park. Short but sweet: The best theater in the East Bay with recliners that lay all the way back. The recliners along with the cheap $5 Tuesdays keep us coming back every week. read more

I love coming to this theater, it's never super busy, easy parking and the staff is usually very attentive. Today was my second time in 2 weeks seeing a movie with my kids, last week we saw Little mermaid and this week Spider man. We got in and got our snacks and my husband took my son to the bathroom, for some reason there was a huge puddle in the men's restroom and my son slipped and fell hitting his face and elbow. When my husband told the staff he got a cold "sorry" and nothing else, at the least they could have offered an ice pack for my son! Definitely makes us question retuning to a place that has no concern for their customers safety. read more

Love this theater. Huge, comfy couch style seats, and a meal tray? You can't beat that. And not very much people early in the morning. Great ticket prices, and decent food prices. Contra Costa Stadiums has been a long time favorite of mine for a quite a while for many reasons. With many new movie theaters hyping up the 'experience' this one keeps it simple which is what a movie theatre should be. ** Location ** This movie theatre is located off of Highway 4 and right across from a plaza and next to a business building and seems to be in a quiet neighborhood. Don't have to worry bout all the madness and traffic getting in or out of the lot unlike other locations. ** Parking ** The parking lot for this location is a pretty good size. I've never seen the lot get to full capacity cause you'll always find parking no matter what. ** Interior & Auditoriums ** They just finished remodeling the lobby area of this place and it looks nice and clean then how it did before and I've also seen here on Yelp that they changed management which seems pretty friendly. They offer a wide range of selections (besides your basic popcorn, soda, & candy option) on their menu they now offer wine, beer, hot coffee & tea, hot dogs, pretzels, ice cream, nachos, and pizza. They also added two fancy Coca Cola soda dispensers (that have every flavor of any soda you can imagine) as well as a condiment stand. In this movie theatre they have about 6 or 7 auditoriums and range from small, decent, to big sizes and all the auditoriums have recliners... YES THEY DO FULLY RECLINE and also have table platforms and cup holders. ** TIPS ** * They just recently changed their policy where they now check your tickets and check bags so pack lightly if possible and yes that unfortunately means no more sneaking in snacks :( * This movie theatre does participate in $5 Tuesday and does quite get crowds coming in every week so I recommend reserving your seats online. * That being said I recommend going on Fandango and pre buying the tickets online and reserving your seats about a week in advance then the day of the movie walk in and retrieve your tickets by showing the QR code that Fandango gave you through email (or text) or show credit/debit card that you paid with to the cashier... then you'll get your tickets! Life is a breeze if you do it that way ;) * If you're watching a movie that offers DBOX experience and Dolby Atmos/Giant Screen showtimes and are looking for the 'cheapest' option go to the bottom (on Fandango) to 'Closed Caption and pick that option and save yourself a couple of dollars ;) Mind you this option is just the standard screening w/o the fancy gadgets like surround sound, a huge movie screen, or a D-Box experience. Overall I'd recommend this movie theatre over any other movie theatre because it's quiet, simple, and stress free and the staff is nice and try to keep things up and running (bathrooms are clean, service is excellent, staff is friendly, etc) and it seems like this place is a hidden gem and I hope it stays that way for a while! read more

Best theater in the area, no contest. Cheap tickets, incredibly nice staff, reclining chairs, reasonable prices on concessions, and fountain drinks from a freestyle machine. They also do the best job of adding butter to your popcorn. This doesn't even get to $5 Tuesdays and other deals. I haven't personally had any of their beer or gelato, but it's cool that they have those options too. Greatest theater in the area, I don't mind making the drive here just to see a movie. I must say I LOVE this movie theater although I have a very selfish reason why. We just happen to live 5 minutes (driving) from the theater. Because you can pre-book your seats (super ez) you can walk in 5 minutes before your movie and still catch all the previews. Its clean, the employees are really nice local kids and the snack bar sells all the usual stuff PLUS beer and wine if you feel like sipping something while you enjoy your movie. Reclining chairs and plenty of parking round out the amenities of this place. Why go to Veranda or Brendan and fight for parking when we have this gem right in our backyard... read more

Even I am not living nearby, but I love coming here. Most people who work there are friendly. And I love the recliner seat which makes us enjoy the movies more. The only thing that I don't like is, it's getting dirtier, they don't clean up after each show, or may be not enough cleaning, I always see popcorn, spilled drink and stains on the chairs, food trays in hidden places like under the chair on the floor, between two seats, etc. I always have to bring wet disinfectant wipes to clean a bit before sitting. But this is still a good movie theatre and I will definitely continue visiting. read more

Staff is excellent, in fact, my wallet fell out of my pocket and I didn't notice it until I came home. I called and they said they had it in the list and found. Cutest little theater in the Bay!!!! They just renovated and now serve adult beverages (beer & wine) and more snacks/food selection. Super easy check in, all updated for fast ticket pick up, and they even have $5 Tuesdays (for all ages, all day!). The fancy coke machine is intense, but really cool...and I love that the theaters have super nice recliners and little swivel TV tray mini tables on each seat. The staff is always super friendly, the theater is clean, and the snacks are good. I love this place and would watch movies here all the time if I could! read more

I accidentally forgot to purchase tickets at my nearby theater and by the time I realized all the tickets were sold out. Subsequently, we decided to go to CCSC because it was the next nearby town, had cheaper tickets, reclining chairs, and Dolby Atmos sound. I arrived and was a little put off because it wasn't your average theater building. It was sitting under dim lights and the size of the building didn't even look like it could house large screens. When we entered, though, the snack bar had all the basics. Staff was incredibly friendly. Because it was a smaller theater, they were really relaxed and less uptight about checking tickets. I think there were about 4 theaters inside. Again, because it's local theater, I feel like they cut off the previews early and when straight into the movie, is that even a thing? Dolby atmos was surprisingly drastically louder than what I am used to at Century. If you like mom and pop shops this is your mom and pop theater, so not aesthetically pleasing but you leave still feeling satisfied. read more

We've been coming here for a few months now and really enjoy this theater. The ticket and concession stand prices are fairly reasonable and you can't go wrong with $5 Tuesdays! The chairs are comfortable and paying for tickets online in advance with a mere 50 cent surcharge is great. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff are always friendly. Unfortunately, I can't give them a 5 star, as there were 2 previous visits where we experienced technical issues. One time, the previews weren't appearing on the screen, although we could hear them. The AC was terribly high and made it very chilly in the theater too. After we and a few patrons complained, the movie finally appeared on the screen, but the lights never dimmed completely, making the movie appear faded out. The AC still hadn't been adjusted as well. We once again, informed them of the issue and they said they were working on it. About twenty minutes into the movie, the lights finally dimmed, but by then I was quite irritated and freezing and could not enjoy the movie. On the last two visits, we had similar issues with the lighting and temperature control. As for the lighting, I've learned to address it immediately or just adjust to it. Even though it may be 90 degrees out, I now bring my warm jacket in case it's too cold in the theater. Two, somewhat, minor concerns, but otherwise, a very nice theater to take the family to. read more

I've watched a few movies here and had great experience until last night. Watched the 7:35pm showing of 1917 on one of the smaller screens. Here are few things that ruined it for me: 1) The picture of the movie was not fitted correctly on the screen. The picture was about a foot or more above the white screen so that it also left a big black space at the bottom of the screen 2) There were a couple of huge dents on the white screen affecting the picture of the movie. 3) The movie playing next door was extremely loud. At the beginning of the movie I actually thought those sounds were part of the music in our movie. It ruined the parts of the movie that were supposed to be quiet. The reason I gave 2 stars instead 1 is because I didnt experience this with the other movies thought they were in the bigger theaters. Hoping Contra Costa Cinemas can get these problems fixed. I hope to see this movie again without the bad experience I had. My suggestion is if you ever decide to watch a movie here make sure it is not showing on one of the smaller screens or you might have the same experience I did. read more

Popcorn landmine if you walk in - man the floor was covered in gross popcorn in the lobby and in front of the concession stand. The line for the concession stand is long. I appreciate the DBox option they have, though. I am happy they serve wine and beer now - but the food needs a facelift. They still don't offer any yum food - they could partner with some of the restaurants across the street to offer good food. I like that they have trays for food and recliner seats. I like that a lot of the theaters are smaller and more intimate. The sound system is awesome and very loud. We enjoy movies here regularly - $5 Tuesdays are my favorite and on fandango you get to pick your seats. The workers aren't the happiest people. read more

I like it a lot, I want it a secret, but that would be selfish for others and for the business. I love this place because it's tiny but very relaxing due to their comfy electric reclining seats. I also love the fact that the studios are clean. I guess it takes two to tango; movie goers here are disciplined that they don't just leave their garbages on the floor or everywhere and staff are effective in cleaning. This is one of our favorite places to watch movies. Cheap matinee prices/easy parking/friendly staff/hospitable and polite fellow movie goers/good popcorn/bathrooms accessible (ie. not a mile away)/recently remodeled/clean & comfy. Even though it is a drive for us it's well worth it! UPDATE: MAY 2008 Matinee prices are $6.50! We have been here at least 25 times! Never had a problem with movie times OR volume. This is one of the few places where the sound is cranked up and you have to wear ear plugs! I totally agree with Jon D. I still stand by my previous comments. We have only been to the matinees. so I can't comment on the evening shows. Plenty of FREE parking! Friendly staff! Theatre seats are roomy and comfy with lots of leg room. I have been coming here for years. I really enjoyed supporting the small folks. However, I think it's time to move on. I don't have an issue paying for food, but when they ran out of water bottles they wanted to charge $5.50 for each cup of water. $1.50 more than a regular bottle water. I thought it was ridiculous for a cup of tap water. They refused to let me get the ones in my car. I thought it was crazy since I had just bought a ton of food and sodas. Second. If the theater you're going too doesn't have comfortable recliners, you're going to wrong one! Went today and loved this gem in Martinez. Book your seats ahead of time and enjoy . Only downside was parking, very cramped on holiday week Friday morning. Had to park by Starbucks across street. Despite that, all good will come back for sure! My wife and son came to see Spider-Man and she lost her credit card. Checked her purse, pockets but no luck. She thought she must have dropped it at the theatre so she asked me to go check. She gave me her seat number and I went over. Joe, the manager, was happy to help me check and we found it. Went to see the newly released Hunger Games with my fiance on a Sunday afternoon but we wanted to sit in the D-Box seating. This wasn't available until after a certain time and matinee had ended then so our regular ticket cost was $10 each with $8 additional for each seat in the D-box section. One plus was that for a movie we expected to sell out, we didn't have to wait around after we picked out our seats. We headed to downtown Martinez and walked around the antique stores. When we returned to the theater we bought a large Pepsi (because Coke wasn't available) which came with one free refill, and a large popcorn ($6.00) and actually ate all of it by the end of the movie. 50cents gets you a refill. No charge for extra, extra butter and salt :) yummmm. The people that helped us at the ticket sales counter and the concessions counter were both great! The girl that sold me the tickets explained how D Box worked, and the guy that handled our snacks had a great smile and made light conversation with us. The reason for losing a star is charge for the popcorn refill. Come on! I'm already paying $6 for popcorn!!! And, we paid $8 (yes, EIGHT) dollars extra for our seats. The people that showed up late for the movie were able to sit in them for free because since they're "reserved" they are the last available. Granted, the motion feature is off, but they are much nicer seats, in a great spot - and I didn't think this was fair to other patrons and definitely not fair to those of us that had to pay more to sit here. The D-box experience itself was pretty cool. I'd do it again for another action movie. The lady next to us (and the guy at the concession counter) said Tron was the best, Inception wasn't very good because it was distracting, and that Hunger Games didn't have enough movement so it wasn't really worth it. Great to know that it can be better because we thought it was really cool. We'd do it again, but $50 for a movie (inc. snacks)??!!! We probably won't do it again very soon. read more

It's an older theatre that's been around & you can tell. Parking lot was empty. The staff was nice & friendly. The bathrooms were okay, seemed outdated and wouldn't flush until I stepped on the button really, really hard. The seats were comfortable.
