Love this place. Classic movies, concerts... and more. Spend some time and support them.

    The stage

It's a beautiful art deco theatre that reminds me of the Paramount in Oakland, but smaller. The place feels intimate and small town. The surrounding area is right by the marina with excellent restaurants.

I couldn't believe that this great Antioch establishment was missing from Yelp! This theatre has been around since 1928 for heaven's sake! Instantly, I knew I had to add it. This theatre, like many other Antioch establishments, dates back to my childhood. I remember when I was taking ballet lessons at the Delta Ballet Academy (http://www.yelp.com/biz/delta-ballet-academy-antioch), we would usually have our recitals in the Antioch Community Center. But once, only once, when my teacher announced we were having a performance here that was open to the public, my heart leaped! I was about 8 or 9. I knew this was a big deal, and my excitement to perform at a bigger venue foreshadowed my current passion to perform on stage. Over the years, El Camp has seen its fair shares of rough times when they were forced to shut down due to financial reasons. But after a major restoration project in 2003, business (non-profit to boot) has been booming since! I've seen numerous movies here including To Kill a Mockingbird and It's a Wonderful Life (my dad's all time fav). I've also seen numerous performances here including world renowned Hawaiian slack key guitarist Keola Beamer. Other notable performers who have performed at the El Campanil: The Three Stooges Debbie Reynolds Roy Rogers with his horse Trigger Sally Rand - Fan Dancer Usherettes Edgar Bergen Donald O'Connor Ted Lewis Al Jolson Gene Autry The Limeliters I'm thankful this place is around for people to enjoy. What a wonderful venue that's here for stay!

Don't expect the latest Dolby THX surround sound but this Theatre is a beautiful place to watch live performances. Their seats are comfortable, clean, and their acoustics are nice. At night time when the exterior lights up, it's beautiful...

Someone smashed the window in the front? Homeless situation is very destructive. Makes me concerned about my safety.

My brother and I have been coming here since it first opened in the 90s. After a long hiatus, we made our return on 06/15/2026 to watch "Disclosure Day", our first visit since COVID. Tickets were $7.75 each, which felt very reasonable. Snack prices were on the higher side, but still typical for a movie theater. The movie was shown in Theater 9. The seats were a bit dated, but the reclining function still worked. The auditorium was clean, and I didn't notice any trash. Unlike their cross-town competition Veranda LUXE Cinema & IMAX, this one does not offer in-movie food service. I genuinely appreciate that, since the constant disruptions from people ordering and eating can be incredibly annoying. Overall, Brenden is still a nice place to catch a movie. 4 stars.

It's too bad they don't make the seat covers replaceable. It almost kind of seems like they gave up on the theater. There's hardly any staff. I saw maybe five people the whole time I was there. There's no one working the outside ticket booth. I'm guessing you have to do it all online now? They only had one concession stand running. I really feel bad for the people working there. No one came into the movie the whole time we were watching. To make sure that people weren't being rude or loud or anything disruptive. It definitely reminds me why I don't go up to the movies very often anymore. Yet, I found the same problem with the AMC theater in Fairfield. I'm not sure that they're keeping up the theaters nowadays.

And the prices are not set and will change depending if they think you're rich. I was going to buy a bottle soda and a bag of penut m&ms and was horrified when it was rung up as $16 then put the soda back and they said the candy alone will be $7, put the candy back, the movie was long so I decided to buy the $7 candy, new person at the register and he tells me the candy is $8.75 plus tax when he saw my ring and then was rude to me when I asked why the price is now $8.75 and not $7. Here are my impressions: First, I got an offer from Fandango to attend a screening of the new Wicked film, Wicked for Good. Without reading the fine print, I clicked on the accept button and found myself committed to driving from Modesto to Livermore for the show. That's OK as we enjoy the nearby Cattlemen's Restaurant and so went there for dinner beforehand. Life was good. After dinner, we scooted over to the parking near the theater and heading to the entrance. Unfortunately our Google took us the long ways around (when going from the parking to the entrance, cross the street, then turn LEFT to get into the place. Right works but will double the time and steps. From the start, we found the staff friendly and quite helpful, the automation to convert our printed code to actual tickets a little challenging at first but if we came a second time, we would have it nailed. The place was well run, clean, (bathrooms and theater) with the quality of the sound system spot on, and the screening, state of the art. We highly recommend the Livermore 13 Cinema - Cinema West if you live closer than we do!

However, we need to talk about the pre-show hostage situation. I brought my 5-year-old to see Toy Story 5. The ticket said 11:40 AM. The movie actually started at 12:06 PM. That is 26 minutes of commercials and trailers. It is blindingly obvious that whoever programs this theater either does not have children, or actively harbors a vendetta against parents. Do you know what 26 minutes feels like to a 5-year-old who has already consumed half a bag of overpriced popcorn? It is an eternity. It is the length of an entire episode of Bluey. I watched my child age two years, cycle through the five stages of grief, and nearly de-evolve into a feral state before Buzz Lightyear finally graced the screen. Cinema executives constantly wring their hands in the media, crying, "Why are theaters dying? Why is streaming killing us?" Allow me to solve the mystery: We are paying premium ticket and concession prices just to be forced to sit through a half-hour infomercial marathon before the product we actually paid for begins. If I wanted to pay top dollar to sit in a dimly lit room and wait for half an hour for something to happen, I'd go to the DMV. Clean place, sweet people, but next time, I think we'll just stay on the couch.
