I visited the campus in person during fall for the first time! This campus is beautiful, the staff was super helpful, and the students were friendly. Great vibe overall!

I applied to many nursing schools before getting accepted here, and have been pleasantly surprised by the program. It is challenging, for sure, but the help and support you get from the faculty is invaluable. I have quite a commute, but I honestly don't mind considering how much I have gotten out of my education. The department consistently growing and developing, staying in the know regarding health care news, informatics, and everything that goes along with being in the ever-changing field of nursing. A shining star of the department is the simulation lab. They have a state-of-the-art mannequin and lab that allows the students to practice clinical situations before dealing with them in the live patient setting. I have gained so much knowledge and insight from the time I spent in the sim lab and found it invaluable in the progression of my clinical skills. As a student here, you will get out of it what you put it. Go through the time to get to know the faculty, and utilize the opportunity you're given in the small class size to connect with your fellow students. It's like a family, and I know I have support in nursing from everyone here. I highly recommend going through what may be viewed as 'extra' courses to apply here, as I would go back and do it all over again in a second. Worst college. They don't care about you as a student. I reported a teacher for discrimination, and they never responded to me.

He started here in third grade, and some of the behaviors we were having issues with were spitting, hitting, elopement, throwing tables, chairs, stripping off his clothing, breaking windows, etc. (sound familiar?) His elementary placement had been a nightmare. We were picking him up from class every day, and he was expelled from school because they don't have the resources to care for a child like our son. The spectrum school was the one everyone talked about, and we were very unimpressed when we visited that school as we searched for alternate placement. Tucked away in an office park, admittedly it was a slight turn-off, we met the staff and his new instructor (to be). It was well lit, student art lined the halls, the staff and teacher were welcoming, and every person there was as sharp as a pin. We were so impressed, it was like night and day different from any placement he had before that time. We couldn't wait for him to begin, and for the first time for as long as we could remember, we felt optimistic. With a full-time behaviorist, language pathologist and occupational therapist; not to mention real 1:1 (or 2:1 or 3:1 when needed) staffing coverage, they assured us we would never receive a call to pick up our son because he was acting out. They didn't. They do not react to behaviors, they extinguish them. We are moving out of state, and the first thought is how terrified we are of the possible placement he may have as he finishes eleventh grade and completes his senior year; especially when we think back to how bad it can be. BUT, we are so optimistic about our son's future because ABC has given him the tools he needs to cope with whatever challenges face him in the future. We know we will be able to help him with whatever placement because he is a very different person now than he was when he entered this school. At one time we thought we would need to place him in a group home before he became an adult simply because his behaviors were out of control. Now, we KNOW that he will be able to transition into adulthood in a very organic way, and when the time comes for him to move out with some "room-mates", it will be because of a mutual understanding, not because we are unable to control him. His time at ABC is what has helped to make this possible. The workability program has given him a great sense of pride and accomplishment, and when he moves into the transition program as a young adult, he will be ready. We will miss them terribly, and we hope that this helps someone who is looking for a good placement for a child on the spectrum. They know how to help your child.

Because I was uneasy paying up front for all 3 lessons, Lindsey said I could pay for each lesson by check at the time of my appointment. This sounded great. Bill ended up being my child's driving instructor for the first lesson. Like other people have said, he did have his hand on the steering wheel most of the time, not allowing my child to have their own control. I thought this was weird, but honestly, I just needed the lesson for dmv purposes. Fast forward to several months later and I try to book the last 2 lessons. Because it's a new year now, the male on the phone said the price had gone up. I understand. The price went up. But I already had made a pre existing agreement with Lindsey, so my initial quoted prices should be locked in and honored. I already had the first lesson. The male on the phone was very insistent that even though I had spoken with Lindsey on pricing, I still have to pay the new increased price. Now how is this fair? I'm still waiting to hear back from him...so we shall see how great of a company they are....or how money hungry they really are.

The two hour driving lesson was spent with my child driving - that's what I paid for! 3) The lessons have been challenging. I can do the easy stuff with my child; I want the two hour lesson to bring her to the next level. Shelley had her practice what she would need to know for the test and also what she would need to know for real driving (freeway lane changes, merging, narrow mountain road, etc.). 4) I also liked that I paid per lesson and didn't get hooked into three lessons from the beginning. Yes. we will do all three lessons with Shelley, but if the first lesson hadn't gone well then we didn't have any commitment. 5) My daughter's review "Ms. Shelley is a hoot. No really, she's a good teacher." Before the first lesson, my daughter was very scared. She even asked if she could cancel it. Shelley put her in the driver seat quickly, so she didn't have time to increase her anxiety. Shelley stayed calm and gave her confidence pointing out how well she was doing. And like I said, Shelley made it challenging (from Danville drove South Gate to North Gate roads then down Ygnacio through Walnut Creek) so that no matter where I took her during our practice in between lessons I could just refer back to her lesson and say this isn't as hard as what you did on your lesson.

The moment you step onto campus, you can practically feel your will to live clocking out. This place doesn't nurture students--it chews them up, spits them out, and then acts confused when everyone is miserable. The environment is unsafe, hostile, and emotionally suffocating, like being trapped in a building that feeds on stress and despair. And the deans? Absolutely useless. These people are supposedly authority figures, yet they operate with the urgency, awareness, and competence of broken office furniture. They don't help students--they dodge responsibility like it's their full‑time job. Bring them a serious issue and you'll get indifference, excuses, or silence. Their idea of "support" is doing nothing and hoping the problem magically disappears. It's honestly impressive how consistently they fail at the bare minimum. The entire school runs on neglect. Students feel ignored, disrespected, and completely unsafe, while the administration pretends everything is fine. Morale is nonexistent. Motivation is dead. Every single day drains you more than the last, until you're just existing, not learning. Making Waves doesn't prepare you for success--it prepares you for burnout. If this place were reviewed honestly, it wouldn't even deserve one star. It's a soul‑sucking joke of an institution that should be studied as an example of how badly a school can fail its students. And as if it wasn't bad enough, the school lets big people in the school.

After my child was attacked by another student, we were told by Dean Sarmiento that the other student would be moved to a different class to ensure safety. That never happened. Despite reaching out multiple times, Ms. Moore, the Director of Student Support Services, did not respond to my emails for several days and ultimately dismissed our concerns. Communication throughout this process was inconsistent and unprofessional, leaving our family without clear answers or reassurance that our child was safe. My child continued to feel uncomfortable at school and was even prevented from finishing a class project, which only added to their distress. At times, they were made to feel like the aggressor, which was both unfair and emotionally upsetting. As both a parent and a pediatric nurse, I believe student safety and well-being should always be a school's top priority. Unfortunately, the lack of accountability and responsiveness from the administration made this experience extremely discouraging. I hope the leadership at Making Waves Academy takes this as an opportunity to reflect and make meaningful changes to better support and protect all students.

From the moment we enrolled our child, we knew we had found something special. The school provides a warm, welcoming, and nurturing environment where children feel safe, loved, and excited to learn each day. The staff and teachers genuinely care about every child and go above and beyond to support their academic, social, and emotional development. The school is clean, organized, and thoughtfully designed to create a positive learning environment. We also appreciate the emphasis on diversity, creativity, and building strong character. Choosing a school for your child is one of the most important decisions a parent can make, and we feel incredibly fortunate to be part of the Learn and Play Montessori family. We wholeheartedly recommend this school to any family looking for a caring, enriching, and supportive place for their child to grow. As a parent, reading these reviews, I felt it was important to share how truly wonderful Ms. Jackie has been as a teacher especially with my daughter. From the very first day, it was clear that teaching is not just a job for her, but a genuine passion. She creates an environment that is warm, nurturing, and filled with joy. My child feels safe, loved, and excited to go to school each day, and as a parent, there is no greater comfort than knowing your child is in such caring and capable hands. Ms. Jackie has an incredible ability to connect with each child individually and make them feel special and valued. She is patient, kind, and endlessly creative, always finding fun and engaging ways to help the children learn and grow. It is obvious that she puts her whole heart into everything she does. Her duality of being in a classroom and helping Ms. Lizette in the office is noticed as well. Ms. Lizette, thank you for all of your hard work as the Director as it is not an easy position. What stands out most is the love and dedication she shows not only to the children but also to the families. She communicates clearly, celebrates each child's milestones, and handles every situation with professionalism and grace. Her positive energy is contagious, and she has made a lasting impact on our family. Because of Ms. Jackie, my child has grown tremendously emotionally. We have seen increased confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning. Teachers like Ms. Jackie are rare gems. She goes above and beyond every single day, and any school would be incredibly fortunate to have her. Our family will always be grateful for the difference she has made in our child's life. To the other faculty and staff, we are so blessed to be apart of a school that brings so much love and peace to my daughter. Every teacher continues to make a difference in every child's life that is enrolled at the school and it saddens me that this school does not go all the way up to 8th grade! If you are interested in this school, know no matter which teacher your child has, they will grow into their best versions as it makes you excited for what it is to come with them in their future education journey. Thank you teachers. Sincerely, A Grateful Parent (Anonymous)

That first meeting really stuck with me, and it made me feel good about choosing L&P Montessori for my son. Ms. Norma, Ms. Karima, and Ms. Ava have been amazing. They go out of their way to make every child feel comfortable and cared for. My son can be a handful; he's energetic, can be wild at times, and is very selective about the people. They have been nothing but patient and kind with him. I want to comment about Ms. Jackie because I recently saw a negative review about her, and it made me really sad to see what was written about her. It's tough to see something like that written about someone, knowing that words like those can really hurt a person's character and reputation. I've never seen any of the behaviors mentioned in the negative review but only kindness from Ms. Jackie, even the times I would drop off my son and didn't know I was there. She's always sweet and patient, especially with kids who are having a rough morning. My son is talkative and not afraid to speak his mind if something's wrong. If there was ever anything off, my son would be the first to tell me if Ms. Jackie was not nice. Even in the older kids' classrooms, the staff and teachers are friendly, nice, and acknowledges you during drop off/pick-ups. It's a place where I know my son is safe, respected, and genuinely cared for. I'm so glad we found Learn and Play Montessori.
