A Brief Note to ALL wanting to take the next step and become a Licensed Contractor... I recently enrolled at the Contractor State License School to get licensed as a General A Contractor. Contact was made via phone, left a message and was contacted by one of the Admissions Counselors - Pegi Burdick. I explained what I was looking to achieve and she was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful in explaining the best options available to fulfill my goal. The Bakersfield, CA School is the closest location to me, and the staff - Evangelina Woods (School Counselor) & Jim Lencioni (Instructor) are excellent first rate professionals at what they do! I was admitted in January 2016 and took my General A Exams in May 2016 and PASSED on the first try. The courses and review materials were very relevant and believe me when I tell you that it is possible pass the first time if you go through the materials and prepare thoroughly. The instructor Jim is very knowledgeable and without the materials provided and attending the classes, where I met other contractors in different fields, I don't think that I would have been nearly as prepared for the exam. Thanks to Contractors State License Services I not only passed the test the very first time taking it, but I was helped by Stephanie when it came time to fill out the activation papers and was also provided with a bond at a much lower rate than the bonding companies that I got quotes from, plus I was notified right away for liability insurance at a great price. This was a great experience for me that exceeded my expectations and would refer anyone that is interested in getting their contractors license to take the class program. read more

When I first started my journey trying to become a licensed contractor and had no idea where to begin . I had the opportunity to call contractors state license school and fortunately for me I had the good luck of being assigned to an amazing counselor, Pegi Burdick. I haven't been in school for over 20 years. I was very intimidated about getting my contractor's license. I was given all the tools I needed to pass both the law and trade exams on my first try. I really appreciated all the additional support I was given with filling out the paperwork too. I know for a fact that I can call the school back with any questions I may have in the future regarding my license. Totally passed the first time! Not only did the Spanish instructor help me understand what I needed for the CSLB Test but Evangelina helped me in studying my binder. it was a big binder, mind you; but it was the right things I needed to pass the first time. I went to this school earlier this year for my ICC/IBC license. The guy in the Bakersfield school, was excellent. He made sure my paperwork was in and acually called back when I had questions. The classes were good. I would try to take another class there again. I have a tip for people too, if you want to take classes and are worried about the money, try to sign up for their email.
