I just started this college UEI in Bakersfield and would like to commend how amazing my intake councilor was! His name is Jay and he walked me through every step of the course and college intake process. He reassured me I would get the help I needed any time I needed it and has been there for me since day 1! He cheered me on in the corridors when he saw me show up to my first class and has continued to follow up with me on my progress and needs. Am loving this school and looking forward to graduating and truly appreciate all the continuous help and support I got from Jay. The financial aid process though seems challenging they truly helped me through the entire process making it seemless and easy! I would recommend this school to all my family and friends and say just ask for Jay and he'll help guide you through whichever program you're interested in! read more

I have been going here since November 2025 in the auto program today it is march 2026 when i began this program I had a wonderful instructor named Mr Provencio we shared a class with another instructor so it was 2 classes in one shop first 5 months provencio takes care of everything the new instructor doesn't know what he was doing the entire time so my instructor took care off his students the other instructor named Richard Boyd just stood there not helping at all in fact he rarely ever helped so today I come to find out Boyd was talking bad about provencio. I've noticed that the manager at this collage often spends time walking around chatting with coworkers instead of focusing on her responsibilities. I feel this comes across as unprofessional and can affect the Work environment. I believe a manager should set a stronger example of professionalism , both in appearance and in how they lead the team. Bakersfield needs to do better . read more

I was at Johns incredible pizza with the family and decided to check out next door. I have a nephew that is looking for some kind of training, so I thought , why not check it out. I was surprised on how quick someone was there to answer my questions. I wasn't expecting a tour but was giving one by a very respectful representative. I believe her name was Karina. As we were taking the tour, I noticed how very clean the building was, and it seemed very organized. I was impressed. I was shown several different options, from Automotive tech to HVAC. The options were endless it seemed. I was shown Pharmacy Tech, Medical Assistant, Dental Assistant, I was shown Business and Criminal Justice. As we were in the hallway I kept hearing drills, I asked Karina what was that, she said that's are Electrical lab...one of the popular trades. As we entered I was mind blown on the setup they have. The class really stood out. The students were very involved and busy. I asked if I could take pics and was allowed to take pics of them working on a project. It was just like I was on a job site. The instructor Mr. H was there to answer any questions that I might have. I know there are many options out there for my nephew, but if the training is truly professional like I saw and can help my nephew obtain a position on a real job, then this is the place for him. I was in Mr. Perales Electrical class For pre req. Mr Perales Is a great instructor Coming into his lab not knowing anything he was very patient with me and understanding. He treated with respect and never put me down or any of my fellow classmates. He's a really cool instructor only bad part is that I only had him for 3 mod's. Going into core was different the vibe wasn't the same and was treated differently. UEI needs to hire more instructors that will treat you with respect and not put you down. MR. I'm in my third mod I have learned nothing from the criminal justice course in the past two months. The answers on test are not what we learned some questions on test are half asked. Lab days are a waste of time we don't go over anything in class. Monday we cuffed for about an hour watched YouTube shorts and then watched a movie. I could have done this all at home. I've wasted not only money but also time because I'm locked in for 9 months. A student and the teacher got into it today because of bad communication. Every student in the class was confused because we just had a break the student admitted to being wrong and the instructor kept it going calling the 2 students out. So first off, all of the people leaving good reviews are staff members as far as I can tell. This school is what's called a "scam school". In my experience, I paid $13K+ all up front, didn't learn much, and disappointed with my stupid decision to join this school. Teacher always hungover, on the phone, etc. If you're thinking that you need a career or a "quick career" go to Bakersfield college and start classes there and join jobspeaker where you can find jobs. Personally, i enjoyed my experience at UEI simply because of my instructor. She taught well and always encouraged her students to go above and beyond. Yes, it can seem a little like high school all over again with certain students, but just go for what you initially intended to go for and work hard. If you decide to take this trade school into consideration, please be aware that it's a very expensive school and i feel like the bad outweighs the good at times. Go to a community college instead and just go that route. MIND YOU... I graduated in 2015 and i'm still paying off my loans. If you aren't well off, you may struggle even more by attending UEI. Don't let the negative reviews about uei discourage you from joining The prices are quite a lot but they do work with you and help you. With the price you get books, 2 pairs of free scrubs(depending what program you're in) and all the starter things you need as well as a Kindle. I attend the night time classes for MA and I absolutely love my teacher. Mr. Martinez is an amazing instructor who knows what it's like to be a student. Before he was a teacher at uei he also attended uei. He bends over backwards for his students and wants everyone to be the best they can. He works with you and your schedule. It's just really about communication. Mr Delilah is one of the assistants to mr. Martinez and she is amazing as well. More on the stern and hard side side but she just wants you to Do your best. Don't get me wrong they are super funny and will joke around with you from time to time! AGAIN ITS ALL ABOUT COMMUNICATION AND REALLY TRYING TO DO THE BEST YOU CAN. As for the program it's self! Jezzzzz I never thought I'd let someone who's never even touched a needle before ever go near me but everyone's gotta star somewhere. This program is so hands on the second week you are there you're really working as a MA You take vitals on your classmates You learn how to do injections (yes with real needles) on eachother and well as blood draws You learn how to read codes and preform test like you would in a doctors office. There's book work to so prepare to do some writing. They also test you on something different everyday so study study study! The homework isn't that bad the way our week is set up we have plenty of time to do it. The way I see it is you get what you put in If you're a terrible student who never shows up, has a bad attitude and does the bare minimum GOOD LUCK finding a job after extern. But if you're dedicated student who really wants this you're gonna have it super easy! Also there's a separate little program that I really recommend joining it's called the mentors program. It's kind of like ASB In high school. It's about helping student and the community around you. They offer a lot of good incentives too so when you sign up ask about it! This Karen at the school has a problem with my hair, despite her hair color being literally similar to mine. She said it's not appropriate and a natural hair color for my program, Medical Assisting. The funny thing though, is that a multitude of people have their hair, either with highlights, red, blonde, silver, and they be wearing the same scrubs as me, so I assume they're in the same program as me, so I'm just wondering if Karen said the same thing to them. Because she harassed me again today, July 3, 2024, around 6:30pm, saying that I must have it dyed a different color. Crazy how she's comfortable saying all that just to me when there's a couple other people IN MY CLASS with unnatural hair. I think it's because I'm a guy, or have a different sexual orientation than everyone else or because of my skin color. I'm not sure what Karen's problem is, but this is the second "warning" she's given me about my hair. It's starting to make me uncomfortable, she's literally the only staff member having a problem with my hair. Not even the front desk people have a problem, nor the instructors. A complete waste of time and money, I chose the automotive technician course, the instructors are nice but you feel that they don't teach you anything, there's no teaching structure, they only show you youtube videos and leave you to your own devices. What is done in the lab has nothing to do with what is being studied. Honestly there's nothing different from what you can do at home, some tools and a car. I entered this school paying $2000 each month for 9 months, I left after two months and for no reason they charged me the third month. I defended this place so much for not being a scam, I even graduated valedictorian for my class. Now for the school I liked it because it was hands on and they help with getting your diploma. I went when i was 18 and completed everything i needed to, got all A's, but they refused to give me my certificate of completion and licenses after i completed everything they asked of me, i was told i would receive my certificate after i completed an externship and turned in my time sheet proving i completed it, i did that, then they told me i had to make 1 payment to receive it, okay, so i payed them the first payment and waited for my stuff, it never came so i called them again and they told me i had to pay almost double the first payment and then i would receive my stuff, okay fine..i payed it and waited a few weeks..still nothing, i called them again, they told me i had to pay up to or over another $500 and then i would get my stuff. it never came....BIGGEST waste of my life, time, effort and money and now im stuck with the loans and the debt from this place, they are fucking ruthless... read more
