I've never had much of a problem at CMC. Until Monday. I was woken up by severe back pain. I tried to wait until I could see my regular doc but it got so bad I just couldn't. I called the rescue squad. They were wonderful. Got to the hospital, there was a girl in my room that didn't acknowledge me, didn't introduce herself, I don't even know who or what position she held. She only spoke to me when I asked a question. She then just left and I was alone in my room for about 20 minutes. The nurse practitioner, Aileen, told me I had a pinched nerve. There was no testing of any kind. No X-ray, no MRI, she didn't even bother physically looking at me. She said I have a pinched nerve and I was free to go. She gave me prednisone. She also told me she was referring me to ortho, and gave me papers with their info on it. It was all wrong. Wrong address, wrong doctor - she didn't refer me at all. And the doctor? A HAND surgeon. I went to the proper orthopedic doctor at OrthoSC. Had X-rays and an MRI. I actually have one slipped disk and one ruptured disk. And the nerve is pinched in two places. I have to contemplate a shot vs surgery, which would happen anyway if the shot doesn't help. I was not taken seriously at the ER, I was dismissed with no proper care or testing. And I was incorrectly diagnosed. I'm disgusted. This is not how you should treat patients. It totally discolored the good experiences I've had. And I should thank them for the extra pain time because you know, it is "just" a pinched nerve. I'm angry. read more

FRAUDULENT BILLING PRACTICES! Update on this review: CMC hospital is still billing me to this day. In fact, now their anesthesiologists has joined the party, and is also billing. PLEASE STOP BILLING ME. GET IT TOGETHER CMC AND FIX YOUR BILLING SYSTEM ONCE AND FOR ALL. I have a balance of 87.10 on my account and now the new anesth. bill. Once again, I have two insurance policies. If any balance remains after the first policy pays, the second policy pays the rest. This is the first time in over 20 years that I have EVER had this problem - only with CMC. Please have a heart, please fix this. My mom is worn out from trying to help me with this. 15 calls now. The supervisor in billing promised to take care of this, yet the stress continues. I would have given this hospital five stars, but because of there billing department they deserve a 1 star rating. I had nasal surgery October of last year and I am not supposed to be billed at all because I am on dual insurance coverage. What one does not pay, the other does. Dr. Darin Sutton was a great doctor but the billing at CMC is awful. My mother has called in 10 times now. Today we spoke with Destin, before that it was Rose, Tammy, Brittany, and a bunch of other staff in billing. We were told many times to call our insurance, although my insurance said that the hospital/office should not be billing or bothering me at all. My mom has spent lots of time trying to get this fixed, but I still show a balance. The last lady my mom spoke with actually said that the bill would go to collections if we don't pay. I have never been billed for a dime from any doctor or health office. My insurance pays for all of my medical needs. This is stressful and neither of us would use CMC again. I know everyone does not have the same experiences at hospitals but this is mine. I went in with what I thought was a summer cold and a touch of bronchitis. I went to ER and was seen almost immediately, chest Xray showed pneumonia and a pleural effusion of my left lung. I was admitted and had excellent care from my Nurse D'anna( hope i spelled it right) who was great( my wife who's also an RN said she was great as well) . The Doctors were all very caring and helpful, my Pulmonologist came in and said she was recommending I transfer to Grand Strand so a thoracic surgeon could clear the effusion. I felt as though I was the most important patient in the hospital. I would not hesitate to return should I need any medical care. I also find it great how the local hospitals work together for the best care for the patient. read more

Recently had a heart attack. Staff brought me in and took action. Was screened, ekg, then sent to Cath Lab for a stent. Recovered in hospital 3 days. Went to Cardiac rehab. I feel better now than I have in many many years. Thank you to all that helped me. Everyone was great. read more

Not enough space, out dated facility and long wait times. This hospital is trying to compensate its tiny size by putting up urgent cares all over Myrtle beach but what they really need to do is update the actual hospital, add more rooms and get more specialist to the area. What they have going on is dangerous to their patients and unfair to their overworked staff. Same goes for Grand Strand Medical Center. The area was ranked the #1 moved to area but the medical industry does not want to spend the money necessary to keep up with the booming population. Do better CMC. read more

MAJOR HEALTH RISK: I am 39 weeks pregnant and went in with constant severe lower back cramps for hours and was worried about my baby. My experience was anything but reassuring. I was told by the nurse that I should not have come there and I should have gone to Florence (where I'll be delivering). Why would I drive an hour in a half if I'm worried about my baby? I'm going to go to the closest place that I know can make sure she is okay....the doctor said "you're only 3cm dilated you're pregnant your back is gonna hurt" the nurse laughed at the remark and left the room. After being completely ignored (my heart rate was 120-140 and my blood pressure was so low the alarm on the machine was going off the whole time and no one said anything about it. They said I need to go home and take a shower. That's when I changed and saw that they had me in a contaminated gown. I am fearful of what bacteria or virus's may have been on this. I showed it to them and the nurse laughed and said "oh yeah that's dirty hahahahah" they then didn't even have the common curtsy to show me where the exit is. Was thrilled when they added a movement disorder specialist with dbs experience. First visit, he agreed to manage my 1 controlled substance prescription refills. This is now the 3rd refill and every month is a nightmare trying to get an authorization for my pharmacy to refill the rx. I almost never get a human and I am not told if or when they issue the authorization. It is a little like playing russian roulette with my pain management. Not pleasant at all. Each month I have to contact patient concerns and/or administrative offices to get a simple authorization sent from neurology. Horrible patient care . read more

Let's start with my Ear Nose Throat Specialist at Conway Medical. I experienced sudden hearing loss and called them and they wouldn't see me for 4 weeks. I have since learned that the American Association of ENTs has standard practice guidelines that require the practice to see a patient IMMEDIATELY when they report sudden hearing loss. I am now completely DEAF in my right ear and could've recovered some hearing had I been seen and treated within 2 weeks of onset. I've spoken to several other ENT practices and they all are aware of the urgent protocol to get a patient in immediately - and their staff is trained to know this. I can also report my experience at the Cancer center - was good for the first few months then one appointment I had the phlebotomist tell me that cancer was from SUGAR! And then I was marched down a few halls to the "Therapy Center" and left to sit in the waiting area with no explanation as to why I was there. I'm a 2 time Cancer warrior so to sit someone in the therapy center my mind started racing - did they have the correct patient? Do I need chemo now? What's going on? (And no one on staff introduces themselves so you don't know if you're speaking to a MD, PAC, tech or the janitor - same at the ENT). Finally, a woman comes over to me and explains that she's sat me in the Therapy Center waiting area so she can read my test results? What? All the space in this building and you don't have a better waiting room that won't cause CANCER patients unnecessary anxiety? She then proceeded to start reading my test results OUT LOUD in a waiting area. I told her I didn't want nor need to hear my results (I can see them online) and that what she was doing was a HIPAA violation. I just couldn't believe this place. I'm now back to my professional doctor at MUSC in Charleston and he's more than worth the drive compared to that circus at Conway. And all this happened within the past 9 months. I will never go back to Conway even if my life depended upon it - dig my grave first. Also, why do their facilities all look like the last update was 1980? read more

6 months ago I spent the night after my surgery on the surgical floor....2nd floor. I have to say I have never been so disrespected as I was with the nurses there. I'm 72 and I didn't react well to the anesthesia, needless to say, I was difficult...not my normal personality. My daughter overheard what the nurse changing shifts...then they refused to listen to my daughter, but my bestie witnessed the poor care I was receiving. Next morning, I asked, begged, to be checked out. However my surgeon Dr Daniel Reid deserves a 5 star...he is caring, knowledgeable and leaves no questions unabswered. read more

Getting to see a specialist is extremely difficult. I have been on a waiting list for months. Primary doctors offices will not call to get you in. Also I had a Gyn problem show up on my MRI for ortho and the ortho office wouldn't even address the issue or refer me. While the state is wonderful the healthcare will only get worse because we're getting older. read more

I had an appointment 1/15 scheduled with my normal PCP, who happens to be on leave currently. With that being said, CMC called to schedule an appointment with a temp doctor at CMC surfside until my doctor comes back. I specifically let them know exactly what the appointment was for as the apt. was scheduled for months and it was regarding pretty serious concerns. I get to the appointment ready to explain what my doctor and I had already talked about, hoping we could pick up where we left off. Fast forward, Dr. Gabby Leary prescribed me a medication without giving me any information on it, not telling me how it would mix with my current meds, didn't explain side effects or things to look out for. Come yesterday, 1/22 I go to pick up my medication from the pharmacy and had to get pharmacist clarence... He was concerned about me taking this medication with my current meds and repeatedly asked me if I was sure. I told him how crazy it was that he was concerned before a doctor was about this!!! I asked him if there was anything I needed to know and he explained a few things to me. My total comes out to be $45, I ask why, they told me retail was over $900. I pay it no biggie, then grab the bag.... it had 90 days worth of pills, 3 bottles... I end up confused as to why the doctor felt the need to prescribe 3 bottles worth, when we could've done one month, then a follow up appointment to see if it's worth taking it more. What if I don't like the medication? What if it doesn't help? What if it makes things worse? What if I just spent almost $50 on 3 month's worth of medication and end up not making it past a month? What's the point? To add on to that, not knowing what this medication is, I do some digging... The pharmacist had EVERY right to be concerned because this medication is HIGHLY recommended to NOT be taken with the current meds I'm on, but 2 different meds instead (which was what the appointment was for anyways...) I'm not very happy with my experience or the day I had yesterday, the pointless money I had to spend.... because I will NOT be taking this medication. The medication she prescribed can cause deadly seizures while I already deal with epilepsy. This medication can cause SEVERE serotonin syndrome if mixed with my current meds. This medication mixed with my current meds can cause life threatening issues. I need to look into getting my money back and filing some kind of report for this. And I KNOW for a fact that when my normal doctor gets back from leave and sees this in my file and I tell her about this, she will NOT be happy. I'm highly disappointed. I scheduled this appointment MONTHS ago and was so excited leading up to it, looking forward to leaving that appointment with relief and answers, instead I left in tears and defeat. On 12/29 I fell and shattered my ankle pretty badly. Horry County Fire and Rescue came and were amazing and I was taken to the CMC ER. My nurse Dawn was phenomenal and caring. Sophie the tech who did my splint was professional and knowledgeable. I was given everything I needed before leaving and told if my splint needed to be redone (due to swelling) to come back. I had to go back 12/31 to have the splint redone (again swelling and not any fault of the medical care). Sophie came in and had me redone in no time. I was incredibly grateful for the amazing care. I know going to an ER is never a fast or easy process since we never know the criticalness of the other patients, but everyone was 100% top notch. read more

I needed an MRI and I have to be sedated because I am claustrophobic. They wouldn't do it. I was told they can do 4 MRI'S an hour instead of spending 2 hours on me. They only care about making money not actually helping people. Would not recommend them. read more

On October 2, 2024, I suffered a heart attack and was taken to the Conway Medical Center emergency room, where I underwent surgery. My left artery was 99% blocked, so a stent was placed in my heart, and I was discharged two days later with instructions to return to the ER if symptoms recurred. On October 7, 2024, I experienced another heart attack and was rushed back to the ER. In the treatment room with my wife, the ER doctor, and several nurses, one nurse repeatedly attempted to insert an IV, causing significant pain and bleeding due to the blood thinners I was on. When I expressed pain, the doctor instructed me to address the nurse by her title, not as "lady." After apologizing and attempting to clarify, the doctor and nurses left, refusing to treat me amid my heart attack. In distress, I asked my wife to take me to another hospital. However, my use of profanity led to threats of arrest and demands to leave the hospital. The doctor's report falsely claimed that I became hostile and antisocial, leading to security being called. I had an appointment for tinnitus. They had me take a hearing test, which I did not request. Then I met with a doctor for less than 2 minutes who did nothing more than look in my ears and tell me there is nothing they can do. They had the nerve to charge me 2 copays. 1 for the hearing test and one for the "guy" who looked in my ear. Of course they collected 1 copay the day I went and sent a bill for the other because they knew patients would not be happy with the SURPRISE of 2 copays. I'll never go back. read more

The worst most uncaring group of physicians I've ever dealt with. My daughter had to have the ambulance called. She's 14! She's screaming out in pain because her kidney area was hurting so bad. "Dr" Curtis Armstrong said she had a "touch of scoliosis" and sent her home screaming in literal agony. Absolutely shocking uncaring behavior. I'll drive an hour before going back to this hospital. I was in Conway Hospital for almost 3 weeks with a broken hip. The nurses are an amazing group of people, they are a very special group of people and their care was excellent, I can't name any one nurse because they all treated me so well. I would go there for care anytime needed, just feels like family taking care of you. Their devotion to the patient is amazing as well as very professional, you can't find better care in a hospital then CONWAY they need more staff but let me again say the staff is the best in the Myrtle Beach area. the most disorganized hospital around. and that includes their billing department and medical offices. doctors leave even if you call to say you are running late (dr. david beack), or they call you five minutes before you arrive at an office for an appointment if the dr. has an emergency (with no pa or nurse there to see you). their billing deoartment is at elast 6-9 months behind. go to tidelands or grand strand if you can-conway medical center is more disorganized than a circus. read more

I think this may be of interest. After seeing Conway Medical Center Physicians for 3 years for my sons, one of them required a sports physical for middle school. In 2024, Conway Medical Center required a vaccine (which the school did not) to get a sports physical there. After refusing the vaccine, they terminated the relationship with my family via a letter. They didn't call me to explain. They didn't inform me at the time this would occur. I had to call the facility to find out more and they claimed it was due to following CDC guidelines. We found another pediatrician. They're lack of professionalism and stance on CDC guidelines is one of the reasons we left California. I think people should be warned about building up a relationship with them and being bullied into vaccines that other providers, Horry County Schools, and other systems don't require. read more

Hospital was nice. My surgeon was amazing, nursing staff on the surgical floor needs help. They are very short staffed. I have some wonderful nurses and a couple that should look into other careers. The ladies in the kitchen are very friendly and sweet, the CNA's have been amazing that I've had. Waiting for pain medicine after surgery for 3 1/2 hours is uncalled for. I only went there because that's where my surgeon is. Otherwise I probably would've went to MCloud seacoast and Little River. Their nursing staff was amazing when I was in there for a week. read more

I just wanted to write a review about an emergency visit that we had at Conway Medical Center in Conway SC in the Emergency Department! . My 72 year old Aunt was left in the Emergency room lobby after she was brought in by an ambulance and had seen the triage nurse. She was very ill. She had no idea where she was, she was afraid and alone. I had to send her in the ambulance because I needed a sitter at home. I was very clear about this with the emt's. I was also very clear that we just got off a plane I moved her here form New Hampshire and that she was very fragile and that she was nursing home care however wanted to stay home. I also told them that all her paperwork said VNA care and Hospice, however no one communicated what was wrong with her. They communicated she had a stomach virus and she was left to sit in the lobby alone in a wheelchair and wait. She is currently in the child like phase of her elderly life and very confused as well. I was in constant communication with my Aunt via phone and I thought she was in a room in the emergency department for the 2.5 hours that I was communicating with her until someone in the lobby got on her phone and told me that she was in the lobby waiting by herself all this time. At that point I had to go to the ER. I approached the window and I spoke with Amanda Busbee- ARIAIL an RN and explained to her all of the above. She had the nerve to shrug her shoulders and wave her hands and state well I go by what the emts tell me and they stated she has a stomach bug. I said are you Fucking kidding me. Well did you probe or use any of your skill set to see if anything suggests differently and there went her shrugging of her shoulders and her hand gestures again and she said she was calling security because I swore. Does she realize she swore with her body language? It was dismissive and rude and she is a Nurse. In an emergency room. Her immediate reaction should have been to attend to my Aunt not have a pissing contest with me. Yet that was the choice she made. Security spoke with other people in the lobby and stated that I did not do anything wrong other than ask her questions about my Aunt and she got offended about it and allowed me to stay at the same time they took my Aunt in. FYI MY AUNT WAS ADMITTED! COLITIS, 2 LARGE ULCERS, LESIONS ON LIVER AND BONES IN CHEST, CIRRHOSIS OF THE LIVER/ FATTy LIVER AND POSSIBLE UTI. Some stomach virus she had. 2 days later my aunt is still in the hospital and everyone else has been kind. However I am still so irate over Amanda Busbee- Ariail. You are a poor excuse for a Nurse! Things must not be happy over there at "Harvest" and you are carrying them over into the work environment. You should work on that! It's not a good look! DO BETTER or DO NOT BE A NURSE. I can't even believe you worked for Hospice. I ran a Hospice for years. That behavior is unacceptable. A Hospice Nurse would Never Ever! read more

As I was talking to the doctor, he rudely walks away and sends the nurse in with discharge papers and sent me on my way. On June 15, 2020 I wrote to Gene Warren at CMC seeking resolution on two bills received from CMC Payment Services for drug charges. On June 19, 2020 I received a Yelp message from Brian A. to call CMC Customer Service to resolve. I had already called them and told to submit drug details to my BC/BS Rx Value carrier as they don't submit requests for benefits from Insurance companies! They already did for general services with both Medicare and BC/BS members but Not this time for drug costs. As of June 25, 2020, I have not heard from CMC to resolve these outrageous invoices for a 2 day stay costing over $2800. for drugs for an upset stomach condition! Meanwhile, I have sought help from my drug carrier, BC/BS of SC in Columbia and am awaiting word from them on my next step in dealing with this hospital's billing issues. read more

My dad was in Conway Medical for 16 days. There were a couple of really great nurses, but the majority seemed to do as little as possible. When I would try to call for an update, the switchboard operator rarely answered to put my call through. If I was lucky enough to get through to the nurse's station, the majority of the time I was told my call would be returned, which NEVER happened... not even once. The food was awful, and my dad was served mashed potatoes with brown gravy for lunch and dinner every single day he was there. This hospital really needs to up their game. read more

I have had mostly a good experience here, and the staff is friendly but the parking lot laid out dangerously (weird intersections) plus the doors are labeled odd. Why would you say when a door is "secure" and what non-military or law enforcement person uses the word secure to describe when a door is locked? Just say the door is open 8 AM - 9 PM or whenever it is opened, sheesh. Wait, did I say opened? I meant unsecure. Anyway, the staff is friendly, but if you do not have insurance then be ready to do a lot of paperwork to get your treatments paid for. read more
