Been a lifelong customer from when they owned the restaurant, and the store. Lately, the store has been going downhill. Stopped carrying items that I regularly used and could only get there. Their famous cake slices have been dry and tasteless. Watched one of the workers make pizzas with her bare hands, sneeze, blow her nose, and continue making pizzas without washing her hands. And their once wonderful bread has become dry and just different. Bought two hard rolls for $1.99 last week, and they were so hard they crumbled on the outside, and nothing but air on the inside. No bread inside, and had to be tossed. That's the bad. The good is their deli, meats, frozen foods, and especially the olive bar (although smaller now) , are all still the same delicious quality it has always been. Best olive bar in town. read more

I was traveling through Johnstown and stopped in to get a fresh Italian hoagie. They were out. Fortunately for me a lady came from the back and said she would make one up. I just love family run businesses that go the extra mile. That service, and the hoagie, made my day. Plus, the wedding soup is also a must get. Great store. read more

I've been forcing Mrs. Anderson to shop at Conzatti's, but no more. There was a time we would buy cheese 5 and 6 lbs. at a time when it was on sale. Mostly Colby & provolone because they would freeze so well. The last time I went to buy a half log of their jumbo provolone, I noticed the piece the clerk was weighing was faceted all around. When I asked about it, the clerk said they had gone over it with a cheese plane to "clean it up". I don't know about you, but I do not want 5 lbs. of cheese that had been "cleaned up". Never bought cheese there again Then. Mrs. Anderson picked out a nice-looking chuck roast. When she checked, it was 4 days beyond the code date, as was every other roast in the cooler. She pointed that out to the manager who said he would take care of it. Now, does "taking care of it" mean to weigh it and slap on newly printed labels with more current dates, or, perhaps, throwing it in the grinder to be sold as ground beef? Never bought meat there, again. I had been buying cashews there for Mrs. Anderson. Lately. the bulk cashews were displayed covered by a plastic skrim, so I thought it was more prudent to buy the store-weighed packages. Curious to find out how much the packaging weighed, for the hell of it I weighed a couple as purchased. All I found out was that I was not buying nuts by net weight as I had all my life, but by the gross weight of the package. Silly me. If I have to check every tomato in a peck, I find a new tomato farmer. read more

Simply the best, hands down! If you want the freshest, most versatile selection of deli luncheon meats anywhere around, then this is your place. Plus, they have literally hundreds of selections and varieties of pasta, a mega selection of sauces, homemade breads, and just about anything you could ever want from the old country; at least as far as preparing your meal goes. You'll still have to go back to Italy for that authentic Italian wife, if that's what you're after! The selections are great, as are the staff as well! I've been shopping there for forty years now, and still look forward with great anticipation to my next visit. Basically a local version of DeLallo's in Jeanette. Not as much choice but similar prices.

This is actually a very large market, featuring Italian specialties, cheeses, sliced meats, cured olives, breads and prepared Italian foods, as well as deli salads. Salad fixings with everything you can imagine and more. When I am in town, I tend to stay lost in here and go crazy! You can shop for the week or find a zillion dried pastas and pantry items. It's a great Italian market and as with almost everything in Johnstown, they have yet to develop a website. read more

I love ethnic markets--wonderful to have a place to buy specialty items and so much fun to discover new foods. Conzatti's stocks a lot of Italian classics, such as the right flour for pizzas, cannolis, etc., though surprisingly there are no Italian coffee beans or fresh-ground coffees. The selection of cheese is impressive, including several not available anywhere else in town, and prices are fair. I was excited to see an olive bar with a wide selection, including my favorite oil-cured olives, but my excitement soon turned to disappointment. The first time I tried the olive bar, the olives went moldy after just a couple of days. I hoped it was a one-time fluke, so I went back a few weeks later. The second time, my favorite olives were clearly well past their prime, sour and astringent, though the other olives were okay. Some other reviewers also mentioned other items past their prime, so this may be something to look out for. read more

The olive bar, fresh eggs, local heavy cream, nuts, fabulous meats and cheeses have made my diet journey easy. I used to go to Conzatti's on a weekly basis. On a recent visit during a global health crisis I noticed a sign on the door stating "masks optional". Upon entering I noticed not a single employee wearing a mask. I promptly left and will never, ever return. Thank you Conzatti's for contributing to my children missing school, sports, arts, music, prom, social gatherings, graduation parties, etc. Oh yeah, and for all the sickness and death you're helping to spread. I was in town recently and thought to stop in while driving past (actually made a U-turn to come back). We are in the midst of planning for a fairly large family event and were looking for food options. We entered the store around 4:50 on a Saturday. My wife said hello to the first lady we encountered and her response was "you guys have around 3 minutes and we are closing". No hello, no, how can we help? no, are you looking for anything in particular? Just, "you guys have around 3 minutes". My response was to turn around and walk out the door. I looked at my phone and the time was 4:52p. I would think that you are open until at least the posted closing time and next time you might want to inquire as to the customer's needs before rushing them out of the store. We had an order of 100 chicken tenders scheduled to be picked up for a children's party. We called 2 weeks in advance to place the order and we also called 2 days prior to the party to verify the order. Whenever we showed up at the scheduled time, we were informed that our order was not ready and that the fryer wasn't even turned on. Nobody from the store even called to tell us that it wasn't ready. We had no choice but to wait as our party was starting, so we headed to the party venue (30 mins away) to drop off the other supplies we had picked up before stopping here. We called the store to tell them that we were not paying full price since their mistake was costing us time and money. The girl at the front desk had a terrible attitude and was extremely rude considering the mistake was on their end, not ours. The guy in the kitchen that we spoke to told us that it was not their fault and that we should've called that day to verify the order, what a joke. He also made comments like "if you need it so bad then why aren't you here yet", well we weren't there yet because we had to drive 30 minutes to the party venue and then 30 minutes back to the store to pick up a LATE order. We got the price down eventually but the way that this situation was handled by staff was extremely unprofessional and it ultimately ended up costing our business, we definitely not be returning. Our business will go to a small business that actually deserves it. read more

They have a wide variety of luncheon meats and hot/cold food options. They have a bulk nut section now so you can get as much (or as little) as you need. The bread - let's talk about that bread.... My wife wanted to visit Conzatti's only because we were across the street and she remembered their commercial. I jokingly said, "it must be great, all the people in the commercial love it!" I am sure that we will now be stopping at Conzatti's at every opportunity. What a nice little market. The prices are pretty good. The quality is exceptional. We gathered up spaghetti supplies including their homemade sauce with meatballs. The sauce is top notch. The meatballs are the REAL DEAL. We also purchased some of Nonna's Homemade Italian Bread. It's hard to live up to the expectations of a name like that. But this bread....butter it, dip it in the friggin sauce and see. I bought their hot sausage and homemade spaghetti sauce. I measured the sausage against a sausage roll and cut exactly six pieces of sausage. I don't think that that was an accident, folks. Sauté some peppers and onions, add it to that magnificent sauce you have yourself a perfect hot sausage sandwich. Finally, shout out to Jake Conzatti's beef sticks. Cheddar infused. Your dog will stare at you while you eat it. read more

The quality of their food is amazing and it always tastes amazing. Their product and eggs are always super fresh and never old. Great place to pick up standard Italian items (meats, cheeses, etc.) but with a number of products that Conzatti's produce including many different freshly baked breads, tomato sauce, meatballs, wedding soup, gorgonzola cheese dip (a must try), homemade biscotti (another must try), pizza (you bake), hoagies. Have always loved going to Conzatti's Market..was never disappointed with anything until last evening. Stopped in and got a piece of chicken romano and some lasagna to take home for supper. Paid over $8 for this stuff, I could have gone to Main Moon and got a buffet to go for a little over $1 more and ate on that for 3 days, but back to the issue. The lasagna was good, but the chicken romano had absolutely NO TASTE!! I managed to get less than half of it down before deciding that it was just a waste of calories to try and eat it because it wasnt good at all. Ended up feeding it to my dogs. read more
