Traci gets all the stations prepared ahead of time and some items are even sourced from her own personal garden. She also gave a lovely appetizer before we started cooking (don't cook hungry!). She did a great job helping us all get cook the dishes, I was impressed how attentive she was with all of us and also gave great tips! The food we made (Moroccan) was phenomenal! My mother-in-law was coming in from New York and wanted to stay at an Air BnB in the Elmwood/Rockridge area. We decided to put her at Traci's house, which looked lovely, on a beautiful street, and the idea that her host was going to be a personal chef also sounded great. It turned out to be a wonderful experience, both staying at her home and hiring her to cook us a meal. Traci is a wonderful host, making us feel completely welcome. Their dining room is lovely, real Berkeley arts and crafts style with lots of wood. We had the Moroccan tagine with chicken and apricots and couscous, which was absolutely delicious. She started us off with a very yummy shredded carrot salad with raisins and a very light vinaigrette. If we were to do anything differently, we would have requested a chocolate dessert. There's absolutely no doubt that we'd hire Traci to do another special dinner in the future...no noise or lack of privacy, as one frequently gets in a regular restaurant. My friend and I took a Nut Cheese class with Chef Traci and had a great time! The cheeses are vegan and paleo, so it's a great skill to learn for different lifestyles. To celebrate our dear friend's birthday, we booked a class together to learn how to cook a gluten & dairy free meal. The experience yesterday went way above and beyond our expectations!! Chef Traci is a wonderful instructor and full of quick & simple ideas and tricks on how to make healthy & tasty meals. Our menu included Turkey meatballs in tomato sauce with zucchini noodles, dairy free strawberry ice cream and gluten free waffle bowls with shredded coconut & dairy free chocolate. The whole experience was so FUN and the food & desserts were super DELICIOUS and pretty SIMPLE to make! Chef Traci has really turned me on to trying more gluten/dairy free options. With her homemade dairy free Parmesan cheese and all natural cashew cream, it was awesome to be able to taste and see how these delicious options are made. Also, the kitchen/class space is open & quite beautiful. We were lucky that it was a perfect afternoon to have our coffee/tea & dessert on the outside patio in the warm sunshine amid the greenery & trees. Chef Traci opened up her home to us and made us feel very comfortable in the kitchen. We made some Asian tapas that consisted of salmon cakes, Thai chicken meatballs and sweet potato kimchi pancakes. She left out a recipe sheet that made it easy for us to follow and gave us the freedom to run with it but also followed up to gauge how we feel. When we were hesitant about flavor she asked us to try to and adjusted the taste to our liking so she didn't force us to stick to her exact recipe. Her yard was beautiful so when the food was sitting in the oven we got to drink our wine and enjoy the fresh air.
