This store is a treasure and has been a staple in Madison Park for as long as I can remember. They always have everything I need for the kitchen and then some. I've bought great hostess gifts here and table decor as well. I like that it is a Mom & Pop run store and they are always around to answer questions and commiserate about failed recipes or celebrate successes. I will NOT let these 2 star reviews drag down this mom and pop shop. When was the last time you saw an ACTUAL cookware store that wasn't Williams Sonoma (overpriced), Sur La Table (bankrupt), Hobby Lobby (overwhelming, cheap quality)?! Maybe in the 90's? This shop is trying to survive through Covid and Amazon. If anything happens to Cookin' at Madison, you'll be left with Amazon to buy your last minute cooking needs and you're gonna rely on the dubious comment section. Here at Cookin', you get 1:1 time with knowledgeable people AND their unfiltered, invaluable advice. - I've come here probably a handful of times in 2019 and probably 5+ times this year to grab equipment and bakeware. Each time I've left with items that will last for the next few decades, and helpful tips. - They didn't greet you? Okay... are you the Queen? I get it, it's nice to be acknowledged during Covid. Maybe you can just politely interrupt their conversation next time to get their attention. They probably didn't want to appear like a hawk hovering you to see if you need anything because honestly, they appreciate you coming in but don't want to overwhelm you! I've gone in without being greeted but it's because I was on a mission and I probably looked intimidating. Besides that, I've interrupted them before and no harm was done. - Masking guidelines: okay that's fair but does it warrant an actual Yelp review? Maybe that was his last mask for the week and the rest are being washed. You should call them and discuss this issue with the owner, but not call them out on Yelp. At least they are observing masks! PLEASE SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES! I love this store so much. It's not corporate, it's not Amazon with their fake products... I can't bear to imagine it caving into Covid's ruthless year =( read more

Cute little kitchen store in Madison Park, it reminds me of a little sister to City Kitchens downtown, but not really plus they aren't related. You name it they'll have at least one type of what you're looking for, but if you can't find it good luck getting someone to help you. I've walked around the store many times and have never had a sales person ask me if I needed any help. Sometimes this is a good thing other times when you're looking for something specific it can be a bad thing. One really funny thing is with it being right next door to Cactus, you can hear the drunken loud people in here while you're shopping for cooking gadgets. It's a bit startling at first than funny once you realize where the loud obnoxious people are coming from. read more

I've been back to Cookin' at Madison Park two times since writing my dissapointed review about their early-covid masking practices, and both times everyone in store has been masked, and taking good precautions while also offering the great products, knowledge, and small-shop experience they always have. Cookin' at Madison Park is hands-down the best supplied, most knowledgeable, friendly cooking and baking store in the area. Even with the slow-downs in shipping that everyone is experiencing, they had multiple high quality options for all the things we were looking for. We went in for one or two things we needed but couldn't find anywhere else, and then realized a few other things that would make our at-home cook life more enjoyable--a new cookbook from their selection, some new sleek cocktail gadgets, and other such delights. Owner and staff helped us with decisions when we needed. It's great to get a a new spark of joy in the kitchen from this visit. read more

I didn't have a good experience here. I came in looking for three items. There were two people working. The owner and someone else. I was the only customer in the tiny little shop. They were talking and joking around with each and completely ignored me. Not even a greeting. I made several laps around the store waiting for a lull in their conversation so I could ask a question. I was very clearly looking for something yet neither of them said a word. Other customers came in and were greeted warmly. I'm not sure what it was about me that they didn't like. I found one of the items I was looking for but decided not to support this business. I won't be back. read more

Wife and I always look for local businesses to support and found this place. Lots of great stuff for the kitchen but...we walk in, no one greets us and in 10 minutes of browsing, we walk out without a word having been said to either of us. So, we went to Williams-Sonoma where an employee said "Hi, are you finding everything OK?" and proceeded to help us. We spent $500. Cookin's loss, Williams-Sonoma's gain. read more

First of all, Madison Park is a cute little neighborhood with shops and restaurants. Well worth a walk around. Cookin is a great store with nice, nice inventory. Prices are not high at all. Add to that the great service and help. Can't wait to get back to Seattle and see what they have new. read more

While running errands with a client, we decided to stop in this lovely little kitchen shop. Okay, it's not necessarily little... but it's not huge. Anyway... it's bright and gets your cooking juices flowing. I wanted to buy gadgets for things that I don't even cook. The staff was really helpful and eager to assist-- but not in-your-face-annoying helpful. The prices are very competitive with say, Sur La Table or Williams-Sonoma. Hopefully I'll get to return soon to pick up something fun for one of my favorite rooms in the house. read more

This little neighborhood shop has everything you could want or need in your kitchen, from essentials to unique gifts. The man and woman who work there are incredibly kind and knowledgeable (and always curious about what I'm about to make). More than once I have called them to help troubleshoot a recipe and they always have good input. Surprisingly, in spite of it's location- the prices are very reasonable and it's nice to be able to support a small local business. I love this store! read more

What a wonderful shopping experience for Madison Park. When you arrive at the little shop, you will find a wonderful window display that showcases carefully selected pieces that are lovely editions to any kitchen-lover's alcove. You can find everything you need from avocado knives to zest spices. If you can't find it in the store, they are happy to make efforts to order it or even recommend another local store. Since I can't get Stonewall Kitchen jams from our local neighborhood market, I'm glad to find them here. They carry wonderful sections of spices, sauces and a thousand kitchen tools. I could spend a few hours in here. I love it so much, I wish I could buy one of everything they offer. read more

I have to admit to being a cook store junkie. It all began when I started really enjoying cooking after moving to my new house. Now, I haunt the various cook stores of the greater Seattle area. Cookin' is a nice little store. It has a decent selection, and the people who work there are super nice. The only problem for me is that they take up too much room with linens and are missing some important cooking stuff. Sometimes when you thermometer breaks, you really need a good thermometer and the clock is ticking. They had over half a dozen models in stock, with specific recommendations for meat vs. candy. They know their stuff here. Easy park right out front, in and out back in time to time to pull the brisket from the smoker just in time at the right temp. Excellent service. read more

I love stores with shop dogs : ) Parkie isn't always there but he is sure happy to see you when he is... so cute! Besides the dog (lol) the store is adorable and chock full of wonderfull things. Everything cooking you could eve want from books to equipment and tools even a few choice eatables. They have an amazing aray of pots, pans, tools and knives... not only are they well stocked but the people who work and own the place are true foodies. Everytime I come in they are munching at something or another or talking of this or that new restaurant they went to or the latest hottest cookbook. They are always willing to talk to you about the product they have for sale. One of my fave things about this store is the perfectly decorated window, the display is always stunning. Madison Park is quite a beautiful place to walk and enjoy the windows and display, Cookin is an added jewel to this street. : ) read more

I have shopped at this gem of a store for years. I used to live in Madrona, it was super convenient because we were often in Madison Park. Recently I was in and asked about a pepper grinder. I explained that I'd bought one at their shop years before, and it wasn't working well any longer. Without skipping a beat, the sales person told me to bring it back. When I told him it had been a decade since I purchased it, he said it wasn't an issue, but he recommended a fix to try first. It worked like a charm. Today, I called about a bowl I had bought there years ago -- I wanted to know if it was safe to bake in. The woman on the phone told me no, but explained that it was only because the factory making the bowls had gone out of business, and that I was lucky to have one and shouldn't risk it. I love these folks -- they stand by their merch and they're knowledgeable. And they sell really high quality goods - the kind you want to give to friends or hold on to forever. I wish they had more diverse merchandise like they used to in years back (for example, more variety of kitchen tools and gadgets, than just one or two vendors), but they are the BEST place in town to get knives sharpened. It is pretty inexpensive and they do an AMAZING job!!!! Brought new life to my old knives, including peripheral stuff like a mandoline blade and mezzaluna chopper. read more

I enjoy the store for its diverse inventory (it is great for anything related to baking) and they often have fair deals on higher end items. What does make me hesitate is the customer service. It seems to veer from aloof to indifferent. While I appreciate any place that allows the customer some time to investigate and explore, it seems like the people have no interest in seeing if you are finding everything all right. If you are looking for lovely table linens and candles and other details for entertaining I would direct people here. read more

I started going to this store about 4 years ago, because the owners were very friendly to me and the then not yet 2 year old I took care of. I found it rare to be in a pretty place that had things I needed where the owners were relaxed and kind to me and the kid or kids I was with, whatever mood we were all in. I decided to buy myself a present, a "nice" fry pan, and went with the owner's recommendation that I go with the titanium Scan Pan. He talked to me a lot about how to take care of it, and why he thought it was a good purchase. I had it for 3 years and I have to admit I didn't always follow the advice he gave, although I tried my best. It came with a lifetime guarantee; and after a mishap while traveling with it and some fairly deep wear and tear, I took it back in. No questions asked, no judgments - just a friendly conversation where he gave me some advice on how to make this next one last longer.
