Our menu that we would be cooking

This was recommended by a local friend. Hands down the best cooking class I've ever taken. Everything was pro red, measured out, and relatively ready to go. Slicing, dicing, washing, stirring, type duties were delegated fairly and efficiently. The menu was Classic Roman and based on local ingredients he bought that morning. The table was set up. The wine pairing was well worth the minor extra cost. The group of 12 of us got along great and I felt lucky to be in a class with interesting people of various ages. The chef was knowledgeable, funny, and interesting. He talked a lot and the time flew quickly. I learned a lot more than I thought I would! At the end we enjoyed a delicious meal we had all prepared together

Me and my wife booked this class as part of our Italy trip and it ended up being our Most memorable time chef Andrea is a charming knowledgable teacher and in fact a replicated one of his recipes already highly recommend it.

We had amazing cooking experience with Chef Andrea. Kids enjoy it very much and now we are cooking at home fresh made pasta every week! Class happening in a beautiful atmosphere with attention to every detail. Andrea is very friendly and fun to be around! Thank you for this memorable experience. Daniel and Lea

Our family's time spent with Chef Andrea was the highlight of our trip to Rome. We learned so much about Roman cuisine and Italian ingredients, and put together a wonderful meal. In addition to the food, it was an absolute pleasure to get to know Chef Andrea, chatting and laughing throughout the cooking process and around the dinner table. It felt like we were visiting with family, and that time spent around the table created a special memory we'll never forget. Cannot recommend this experience highly enough, and cannot wait for the opportunity to be back in this kitchen again. A fantastic time.

Tired of ogling ancient ruins, climbing towers, and queuing at museums? "Cooking Classes in Rome" will give you an out. Having attended many cooking classes in San Francisco, I arrived with preconceived ideas of what I sought and this experience differed in one significant way: The kitchen here is intimate, and participants aren't responsible for cooking any single recipe. Rather, guests are given small tasks which help propel forward the meal preparation. There's learning along the way, but much of it comes from listening and observing, less of it from actually doing. That said, depending on the menu and your knowledge level, you'll certainly learn something in addition to enjoying a good and filling multi-course meal. The experience begins, upon arrival, with the table set and pastries, cookies, and coffee yours to enjoy. The day's menu is reviewed and then everyone (12 people max, 50% newlyweds when I visited + 3 return guests) is ushered into the slightly crowded kitchen for meal preparation. The 4-course menu is varied and the chef (Andrea), if notified in advance, will work to include whatever dish you might wish to learn. I wish I'd given more thought to making a special request as I already know how to make gnocchi, one of that day's menu items. Chef Andrea is a quirky mix of competence, confidence, and knowledge with a bit of an edge. He'll call you out if things aren't prepared to his specifications, sometimes with humor and other times without. It's okay; I have a thick skin. My big learnings for the day were a) how to reduce an artichoke to the shape and size required for Jewish-style Fried Artichokes, b) learning how tiny to make the beef/pork pieces which comprise an authentic Bolognese sauce, and c) how to prepare spuds for Potato Gnocchi to ensure the least use of flour. People less savvy than myself likely learned a) how to properly clean mushrooms, b) how and why to peel celery and which celery parts to use, and c) how gnocchi is actually made. The meal comes together about when guests are ready for it and everyone takes a seat at the dining table while the chef finishes plating then serving the creations. There's an optional (additional cost) 4-course wine pairing, but my son and I found that 2 glasses each of the red wine offered was less costly and perfectly satisfying. Offered for sale at the end of the meal are many culinary gift items prepared by the chef (think jams/jellies and Limoncello). Recipes are emailed to guests following the class and I feel that I could prepare all of them again, at home (though those Jewish Artichokes would require additional practice). For 75euro per person, the 5-hour class/lunch is a fun variation from whatever one generally does in Rome. You'll leave having a tested Roman menu ready to impress your friends with, a belly full of good food and drink, and the desire for a nice, long nap.

The most welcoming and wonderful class I have taken. The chef and cooking was amazing, the place is a treasure. Everything tastes amazing. After advising Andreas that I didn't eat meat he put together the tastiest menu ever. Made sauce from scratch as well as fettuccine everything was wonderful. I highly recommend this class. Thank you Andrea

This was an amazing experience. We booked the private class, not realizing that it meant it would be just us (myself and my fiance) instead of a small group but it turned into my favorite experience we had the whole trip. Chef Andre was charming and knowledgeable, he even changed the planned menu to accommodate what we really wanted to learn. Apps, first plate, second plate and dessert- we made them all by hand using the freshest ingredients. I've made the recipes so many times since that first night. It was a truly memorable experience; cooking, drinking, and talking until late when we stumbled into the streets of rome a little tipsy and hands full of some of the AMAZING limoncello he also sells. We brought it back as gifts for friends and family who loved every drop. We couldn't have asked for more! Please go visit and learn from this amazing chef!

This is such a fun family friendly experience. We all enjoyed it immensely. We did a group cooking class and we met new people, the chef was so personable and knowledgeable and our lunch was amazing. The recipes were given to us afterwards and our kids are super excited about trying them at home. It was one of the best excursions we did during our time in Italy.

Chef Andrea shows us how a healthy diet brings a wonderful color to the egg yolks, giving fettuccini its characteristic hue.

What a wonderful time we had with Andrea! He entertained us with stories and demonstrations while we split up into groups to prepare the ingredients and step through the preparations. We learned authentic ways to make pasta from scratch, and practiced just the right way to trim artichokes, and found out how to identify the best zucchini and get only the sweet flavors from the blossoms. Everything was fresh from the market, and the recipes were sumptuous and balanced. After the dishes were nearly done, Chef Andrea led us to the table where we enjoyed a glass of prosecco while he brought out the artichokes! It was amazing to see how our hard work had come together, and so much more appetizing with Andrea's careful presentation. We chose the wine pairing option, each a perfect match for the course. The primi, second, and contorni courses were all stunning, leading to a wonderful dessert of strawberries and custard. Following the dessert, we all enjoyed a complementary house-made lemoncello. It was so good that we bought a bottle (only 10 euros) and received it thoughtfully and carefully bubble wrapped for a safe but longing journey home. We are at many restaurants during our stay in Rome, but none will ever compare to this light, healthy, and perfect meal with Chef Andrea and our ten new friends.

This class was recommended to us by a friend and it was even more incredible than I could have expected. Before the class, Andre (the owner) was quick with communication, sharing details, and sending reminders for the class. Once there, he shared some history of why certain foods are paired together and discussed being knowledgeable about "region and season." The menu he created one dish traditional to Italy, one traditional to Rome, and shared that all ingredients were collected fresh that morning from the market. All that and he was accommodated to all dietary restrictions. In the kitchen he showed proper technique for each task, overlooked every activity simultaneously as we worked, and kept everyone engaged while moving people to different tasks as they finished their task for the meal. He was all smiles, fun jokes, and very patient. Once done cooking we all sat down while him and his wife served each course and 4 different wines to pair with each course. There were 3 groups of us and because of how fun he made the kitchen, by the time we sat down we were all able to enjoy conversations as a whole and enjoy each other's company and share stories of each of our trips so far. After the meal, he even gave restaurant recommendations and assisted each group to make sure they were able to get back to their hotels quickly and safely. If I could give 6 out of 5 stars I would and next time I'm in Rome I will plan to join for another class! Cin Cin!

If you love to cook and love learning about how to cook the way locals do, and traditionally then this is the place for you! Chef Andrea is great! He's funny and a great instructor. It's about five hours long and for $20 extra bucks you can do wine and drink pairing. You spend the five hours cooking a four course meal. The class I attended we made Roman style artichokes, spaghetti alla chittara, beef carbonera with arugula and cherry tomatoes, and homemade tiramisu. I met a great group of folks from all different walks of life! So glad I went!

I adored my class with Chef Andrea. The group was small, a perfect number to work as a team in the kitchen. Chef had assembled great ingredients and work stations for all of us so we could prep and prepare a wonderful seasonal, classic Italian 4-course meal. It was all delicious, particularly the carbonara. I have always been intimidated by the idea of making pasta at home but Chef Andrea completely demystified the process and even little hands (two adorable kids were in the class) were able to help knead and roll out the dough. Sitting down to the meal was an experience I'll always treasure and I really enjoyed the ritual of making and sitting down to a meal with good company. I could not recommend this more!

Andrea is an amazing host and chef. His directions, explanations, and history lessons are all spot on. The food is delicious and he caters to all people who are vegan or vegetarian. Worth every cent of the money, plus I left with a full stomach and more knowledge on Roman cuisine.

If you are considering taking a cooking class, don't go with those cheap classes where you watch someone prepare pizza. In this class, you are 100% participating in the preparation of what turned out to be a delectable 5 course meal that I'd pay good money for at a restaurant. We started by stopping at several small local markets where Chef Fabio would select vegetables, meat, cheese and other ingredients based on what was fresh and looked good. As we navigated the streets, I took in the incredible grandeur of Roman Architecture along the way with our final stop the Jewish Ghetto. Chef Fabio filled us in in the important historical aspects of this area. He also shared info on current events, like how covid affected the markets and restaurants. When our shopping was complete, we continued our walk over the bridge of the River Tiber to a small island in the Jewish Ghetto where his apartment is located. We actually cooked in his kitchen!! It was set up perfectly for a class. But the apartment itself, a stunning mix of super modern decor in an old apartment built in and incorporating ancient ruins was another surprise treat! Curves and arches everywhere with a window looking out onto the courtyard and another to the arched bridge and flowing Tiber River. Stunning in every way! This environment, the fact that we were cooking in this setting most definitely added to the uniqueness and fabulousness of the experience. He even took us to the rooms below the kitchen and dining area which are literally built in the ancient caves. Mind blown! We made several courses and were all prepping and making various components. Although we each made the three types of pasta. Like a maestro conducting a symphony, Chef Fabio directed us flawlessly and we sat down to enjoy the meal. First with a toast to the chefs! Us! For our meal we made and enjoyed: - Cavatelli pasta with a radicchio, blue cheese and walnut sauce. Such unique flavors coming together with the perfect balance. - Potato gnocchi with creamed artichoke sauce and crispy guanciale - Spinach and ricotta ravioli with a sauce made from parmigiana reggiano and pasta water. So creamy and absolutely divine. - Veal Saltimboca with a side of potato fried in freshly seasoned breadcrumbs and pecorino Romano - Strawberries with balsamic vinegar Everything was delectable, the perfect balance of flavors made with fresh, quality ingredients. While Chef Fabio didn't hand out recipes, I learned the techniques and feel confident that I can make everything. I can't wait to make the cavatelli shaped pasta, which is my favorite pasta shape and one my Nana made fresh on Sundays. So many memories and for mastering the roll and shape of cavatelli, it alone was worth the $130 euros! The gnocchi was surprisingly simple and fast to make and unlike the heavy gnocchi often served in restaurants, these were light pillows of Heaven. I'll probably make with a Sorrento sauce of tomatoes, basic and mozzarella. While I came to the class on my own, the two other couples also attending were just lovely. We all got along and had fun while we cooked and then shared stories and conversations as we ate our meal. Isn't that what food does? Connect and bind people? Chef Fabio was beyond fabulous! He runs the class like a well oiled machine. Giving clear directions. Showing techniques. Cleaning boards and tools along the way. Plus he also shares stories and conversations so it feels like an intimate experience. I must also give a shout out to Pablo who was busy cleaning and serving, keeping the kitchen clean which kept us on schedule. This class was a highlight of my fantastic trip and I am so happy I chose the five hour Fabulous Cooking Day Class out of the dozens of options online. A friend recommended it and now I'm recommending it to you. Mangia!

First of all, despite what Eleonora might have said to the food professional whose interview we read, the palazzo where she holds her classes in not in HER family. It belongs to the Piccolomini family (as in the Pope), and she is hired help. She pays a fee to the family to use the kitchen and also a percentage of whatever she makes doing her dinners and cooking classes. Although she says it is "in the family," it is NOT her family...very misleading. For dinner, we were the only ones there. She started with small goat cheeses rounds and Pulgiese taranelli....we saw the goat cheese rounds the next day at the deli on Campo de' Fiori (4 euros, and we got about half of them). An appetizer at the table was bruschetta on "fiasco," which was basically a soggy water-soaked bread. Sorry, but my bruschetta is better!! The "main" course was risotto with a bit (literally) of Italian sausage. Some cheeses, then a "charlotte" with apple and pear. Not a bad meal, but questionably worth the 75 euro price each (I think she served the online reviewer more expensive ingredients? Shrimp, pistachios?) We had also signed up for the cooking class the next day (truthfully, we signed up for her because Andrea Consoli wasn't available). We again were the only particpants. We walked around the Campo de'Fiori (where we have spent plenty of time in the past) with her, while she bought (literally) one onion, one celery, one zucchini and and an eggplant. Although my cooking partner had told her ahead of time that she didn't like eggplant, Eleonora insisted on making a pasta with eggplant, insisting that my partner would like it. My partner felt embarrassed at Eleonora's insistence so agree to try it. I wondered if Eloenora has a very limited repertroire of recipes that she knows how to make and thus her insistence on making something with eggplant. The cooking class was painful. She is NOT a cook. Gently, we tried to gradually explain to her where we were coming from...Sonoma County, amazing access to fresh organic produce, plus our own huge garden of organic produce, lots of cooking experience....thinking she might adapt her "lessons." I have worked in the food industry for a number of years, working with world-reknowned chefs. I understand cooking. The pasta she had us make by hand was so dry even she struggled to pass it through the pasta machine. The end result was boring (pasta with eggplant, quite dull and tough, and not enjoyed by my non-eggplant-loving partner). Eleonora promised to send us the recipes from the cooking class, although we have yet to receive them (nearly two months later, although I've emailed her several times). Having worked in cooking schools here in the US, we feel she should have had the recipes ready during the class. But more importantly, we felt completely ripped off. The class was very expensive (as I recall, it was about 230 euros per couple), the food items were very low cost, and as relatively experienced cooks (which we tried to share with her), we felt we learned little and would never recommend her class or dinner. She had asked us to help her establish her business in California (we live in the Wine Country)...not going to happen.
