They have several special dietary options and are kind enough to cover and label those flavors so that there is no cross contamination. My brother in law tried the homemade cookie cup and while it was good it wasn't great. A little too hard and not the best flavor - go for the waffle cone instead. What an adorable ice cream shop! Once you step inside you are transformed back to the 1950s. So much cute memorabilia and I love the booths made out of retro cars. One warning: it's cash only. Not uncommon in this city but wanted to point that out. One thing I really loved is how seriously they take allergies. I have a child with a dairy allergy and they have a separate case with all the dietary specific options and they knew a lot of information about the ingredients and gave me a napkin and spoon in a sealed bag to avoid cross-contamination. How could you not love this place! Number one it's too friggin cute with nostalgia oozing out its pores. Secondly they have cake crunchies so I was sold immediately. They have a great assortment of flavors and they sell real actual ice cream like I remember from my childhood. I hate that cold yet warm fuzzy crap that places try to pass off as ice cream. I got two scoops one strawberry the other banana with cake crunchies, sliced banana, whipped cream and cherry. It was sooooooo good. My husband and I sat there and ate as I looked around at all the old little novelty toys and things they had on display listening to the oldies but goodies and it was a sweet time! There's plenty of seating inside the restaurant, but our favorite place to sit is the booths converted from old fashion cars. I'd read up about this spot in a magazine and was interested in checking out the retro decorations, and as we read up some more online, learned that it was a pretty great ice cream spot in its own right. We also saw it on a gluten-free finder site, so that made us feel better about coming for ice cream. We went one evening for a treat, and while waiting in the car, my wife looked online and learned that they have an option to serve ice cream in a cookie bowl! Both of us assumed that there was no gluten-free option for that, but as I stood in line, I saw that it was! In fact, they're great about gluten-free - they have separate sets of ice cream in the back that they can scoop separately to avoid cross-contamination! When they brought the ice cream out, they had little baggies to hold the napkin and spoon, which was really great to see as well. We went here because we wanted ice cream but we mostly went here because it is kind of iconic. The ice cream was okay, nothing particularly memorable. It was nice that there were a lot of options. However, it was ridiculously over priced for what you get. The real shiner of this establishment is its decor. So much vintage memorabilia from tv shows, movies, and just random household items that are super cool. There is something for everyone in this building that will bring out the child in anyone. Even the bathrooms are decorated. The women's bathroom has mystery date and an awesome vintage hair salon dryer. How cool! Did I also mention that you can sit in cars ? That's right, there main dining room has several cars you can sit it- if you're lucky enough to score one. My son, who has celiac disease, and I went here after reading about them on Find Me Gluten Free. They know the safety guidelines, have delicious gluten free cones that taste like regular ones, and even give you a spoon wrapped in a plastic pack. The place itself is adorable! Tables that are shaped like 1950s cars, tons of old memorabilia, and a working jukebox. Everyone there is so friendly and accommodating. And the most important part? The ice cream is delicious!!! Omg I got a Dusty Road Sundae and switched out the vanilla ice cream for their caramel pretzel something ice cream. The woman there suggested I then put caramel on it rather than hot fudge. It was the yummiest sundae I think I've ever eaten! The caramel is not a runny sauce. It's thick and gooey - the real thing. I told my son they should make that one of their sundaes and call it the Dusted Pretzel or something like that haha. The staff are always friendly and accommodating to people's needs and dietary restrictions. Every time we go in, we are greeted with such a warm welcome and spend hours taking in the decor. I am quite the germaphobe and more than appreciate how they are constantly cleaning, and I never see a sprinkle on the table, booths, or even the floor. My 2 year old is a tough critic when it comes to ice cream and such a snob when it comes to ice cream parlors.
