I first discovered Bananas on a trip to Wildwood in 2018 and there was a young worker outside and they were offering Banana ice cream both Cinnamon dough bits in it. It was homemade and simply delicious. We went every night after....they had Banana ice cream with Choc Chipa, another it was Banana with Strawberries.....simply amazing all home made. Just went back tonightnfor the first time in 8 years. Looks the same but the ice cream is not good. I love Banana Ice Cream but tonight was not like it was 8 years ago. It's safe to assume someone purchased it cheaped out on the ice cream. I was so disappointed and I absolutely loved this place. The charm is still there and the owner was there wIth some young girls working. As a fellow small business owner I respect that.....seemed like a really nice guy. Theirs were blah, but Banana's was awesome! Not only were there three dairy free flavors to choose from at Banana's, but they also had chocolate!!! Decided to stop here because they had dairy free vanilla and chocolate. Ordered the two scoop option but May as well have ordered the tiny kid size because that's all I got for paying almost $10. And it wasn't good at all. Nobody seemed to be paying attention to what they were doing. Just average! Bananas ice cream got voted best ice cream. I wonder who is doing the voting! It must be people who have never been anywhere else! First of all it is a large store with seating. They have the bathroom pad locked with a sign that says bathroom is not for customer use! The store is cute. But the ice cream we had was like Mr. Softee. The flavors were all standard expect one that was Maine Blueberries. There are so many other great ice cream stores on the Jersey shore that I can't understand how they stay in business. Cute, welcoming place with no line whatsoever on Friday at 10pm. The girl showed us their homemade flavors vs another brands, but never mentioned the difference in price. Apparently it's $1 more for each scoop, and I couldn't find any signs other than the regular prices, so $4.99 becomes a shocking $6.99. My chocolate chocolate cookie was decent, with nice cookie bit ratio, but the Biscoff was pretty bland, and my boyfriends banana cream pie literally had no flavor. The whole case was pretty melty so we got bored eating our $7 milkshakes rather quickly. It's equally nice to see Wildwood so busy, and also so terrifying as no one on the boardwalk wore masks, and the employee who delivered our cups to the door's mask was under his nose. When making homemade ice cream everyone's interpretation.of what a flavor should taste like is going to be different. That's what makes going to a homemade ice cream parlor so unique and I love that. The owner had me trying all different flavors because I was unsure what I wanted. He was so patient. I tried their PB&J and it wasn't what I am used to at my local homemade ice cream parlor. It's not that the flavor was bad it was really good but not what I was in the mood for so I got dark chocolate black raspberry. I had it in a hot fudge Sunday and it was delicious. I will say $10.50 for a hot fudge sundae is a little steep hence the 4 star rating. I really hope they make it because they seem like a really lovely family and they have such a cute place. As an avid icecream eater, I have never had a worse experience in my life. My 3 friends and I went to Bananas for icecream which took 15 minutes for 4 regular ice creams. The employees were miserable and all six of them stared at us aimlessly. My friend found a small strip of PLASTIC in her red velvet icecream. My icecream had an EYELASH. A human eyelash. I nearly lost my lunch at the sight of an EYELASH floating in the bottom of my icecream. I chose to eat dairy free so my stomach wouldn't hurt...but the EYELASH did the dairy's job. I thought it could use more peanut butter incorporated throughout. The pretzel cone it was served in was great, though. In addition to some creative homemade ice cream flavors such as chocolate chip cannoli and bacon, they also serve chocolate covered frozen cheesecake, chocolate covered bacon, and a variety of fried desserts. Just off of the boardwalk is where you will find Banana's ice cream cafe. We stopped in late (about 10:30 PM) on a Tuesday and there was still a line. I was disappointed that many of the ice creams were down to the bottom and needed to be filled. They do have some ice creams that are homemade, but most are not. I sampled several of the homemade flavors, but decided to go with a non homemade flavor (cookie madness or something), It was okay, but not something I will rush back for. My wife had a sundae which I enjoyed eating most of. The girl made a very pretty presentation and the sundae was very well proportioned to the dish. They also have deep fried Vienna fingers, Cool Aid, coffee rolls etc if are into that sort of thing. All in all I think it is a nice place to stop f you are looking for something other than boardwalk ice cream. My brother goes to lick it, and the ice cream rolls off the cone and onto the floor, but not due to clumsiness on his part. Rather because the guy scooping the ice cream didn't apply an obvious gentle pressure to stack the scoops atop the cone. The scooper just lazily plopped them on top of each other and they slid right the frack off when licked. Then my brother asks for a new one. Disgruntled clerk points to a sign on the door about Banana's not being responsible for dropped ice cream. THEY CHARGE HIM FOR ANOTHER CONE! The nerve of these crooks. My family has come here for years! We always order banana cream pie milkshakes we love it! But yesterday we went in and was informed by an employee that they are under new management and no longer have homemade flavors or the banana milkshake or chocolate covered bananas. Just unsure how you can name a place bananas but the only banana item you have is a banana split.... Three months ago she responded to a review in which she stated that they didn't have homemade flavors YET. How long does yet take because the summers coming to an end. We stopped in for ice cream today and were excited by the variety of flavors they had available. Unfortunately the ice cream was not impressive. After trying four different flavors between the group of us, all of the flavors were icy (not creamy at all) and a bit gritty. The ice cream was being sold at premium prices for a very low quality product. Very disappointing! We visited Banana's ice cream for the first time today. First impressions: cute shop right down from the boardwalk and friendly service- as soon as we walked in the door we were welcomed. My son had a vanilla soft serve cone and My husband and I tried the chocolate covered bacon ice cream( because everything's better with bacon). Delicious, I highly suggest trying it with the waffle syrup. There is a sitting area with tables inside ( since it was raining we sat inside) and outside lots of seats on the porch. One thing though, they only accept CASH. There is an ATM, but I am not sure if you get charge a fee for withdrawing money. But, if you are walking on the Board Walk and feel like having some ice cream, this is very close by. What was a little more unique is that you could order chocolate covered bacon, fried oreos and fried vienna fingers (this MAY have been the place where I also saw a sign for fried koolaid but I could be wrong about that) I did not have any of that stuff.
