We had a…read moregreat view of the Llano river and were close enough to the club house to occasionally get their free WIFi. The camp was very clean and our space was crushed granite, grass, and a concrete pad with a picnic table. It was a beautiful view. It was very peaceful and quiet. Our only issue with the place was that the grass was very high to walk to the river and there were stickers everywhere! They were so bad, our dogs could not walk in the grass and the bottoms of our shoes would be covered if we walked to the river. We tried to pull the stickers that were growing from our grass area by our camper, but we still pulled plenty from our dogs' paws. The other issue we had, which people may not mind, is the crushed granite. This hurts your feet when you walk barefoot and sticks in your shoes, so we had tiny rocks n the camper. Again, only a slight annoyance. Bring a broom. I recommend water shoes or sandals because entry into the river is rocky. The river was barely flowing the first day, and swimmable, but I heard from the locals that they slowed the flow the next day at the dam up river. Water level went down slightly. They are currently dredging this portion of the river, we heard, but we never saw any machinery working. We brought paddle boards and were able to paddle all the way down river to the dam and bridge. That was very fun! It was a long walk to haul them down to the river. I wish they would let you drive down to at least drop heavy items by the shore. We also fished from the shore. Definitely recommend bringing canoes, kayaks, or paddle boards. Overall, we enjoyed this hidden gem in Llano. It is very close to town, and the town does have plenty of shops to explore in the square. My family really enjoyed our weekend here! We will be back!

Vacation This past weekend, friends invited us to stay…read moreovernight with them at Oasis Lake Buchanan in their RV. Our first impression of the property was mixed. The lakefront location is beautiful, the water level was high, and there was a nice breeze throughout our stay. However, the property itself appeared somewhat run-down. The playground was covered in cobwebs and looked like it hadn't been maintained recently. We also noticed a significant ant problem around the campsite, and our friends had to remove several active wasp nests after arriving. Unfortunately, the biggest issue wasn't the property--it was our interaction with the manager. Late Saturday evening, my friend, who had rented the RV site, began receiving a series of text messages from the manager, Josh, complaining about the number of vehicles parked at the site and warning of additional charges. After reading the messages myself, I was surprised by how confrontational and aggressive the tone was. The following morning, as we were preparing to launch our jet skis at the boat ramp marked for Oasis guests, Josh ran over yelling that the boat ramp was private property. My friend--the paying guest who had rented the RV site--tried to have a conversation with him, but Josh remained focused on the extra vehicle and repeatedly threatened to call the sheriff over the threatening text conversation that took place the night before. (There is nothing in the Texas Penal Code about "hurt feelings.") Rather than calmly explaining the rules or working toward a solution, the interaction quickly became hostile. The situation escalated further when Josh began using profanity, including multiple F-bombs, within earshot of my children. At that point, any chance of a respectful conversation was gone. (Texas Penal defines this as "Disorderly Conduct - Language. A class c misdemeanor.) Shortly afterward, he walked away, and that was the last interaction we had with the little angry man. What made the confrontation even more confusing was that, during this entire incident, there were no other guests on the property. The aggressive response seemed completely disproportionate to the situation. Our friends were ultimately told they were "banned" from returning. While the lakefront location itself is very nice, our experience with management overshadowed everything else. Customer service matters, and unfortunately this was one of the most unpleasant interactions I've experienced at a campground. We won't be returning.

Check in and out were both effortless. Sadly, this was my first vacation of the year. So, visiting here off season was perfect for us. It was peacefully quiet and relaxing, with plenty of space inside the camper and out to unwind and enjoy this getaway. However, I can well imagine the fun you could have in warmer weather with all the additional amenities they have to offer. Mom and I really want to go back for some kayaking! Special bonus points for being truly dog-friendly and not charging crazy huge additional fees. Also, checking in to the cozy camper with soft Christmas music playing the first night, set the tone for a lovely stay. Thanks so much!

First let me say, we had a wonderful experience and we will be back!…read more Now the details: Rooms, bathroom, main areas were clean - this is the most important for me! It is a vacation home that is turned into a bed and breakfast so its really more like staying in someone's home. I loved the intimacy and the fact that means its not crowded - Britain and staff are very friendly and it feels more like you're staying with family. The other side of that is that little details may be overlooked - the comforter, curtains, and carpet are a bit worn, haven't been updated in awhile, and that sort of thing. But I'm good with it as long as its clean and I felt it was. We took a cooking class with the chef - seafood. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had. We cooked 5 full size dishes -- chef was very organized and personable. The dishes were some of the best food I've had ever, no restaurant I've been to can compare. We cooked crab cakes, lobster risotto, scallops, shrimp scampi, and blackened red snapper. Worth every penny - take the cooking class! Breakfast and dinner prepared by the chef was also phenomenal! Nothing was a disappointment - literally some of the best food I've ever had. The Migas for breakfast was my favorite, but the croissant french toast and biscuits and gravy were also very good. The only thing I didn't like was that if you aren't out right at 9am to eat breakfast, your food will be cold, no way to really keep it warm really. Not a huge deal in my book - its like Mom cooking you breakfast, its ready when its ready. The grounds of Circle H Lodge are beautiful to say the least and the house is a wonder. Nearby to do: Longhorn caverns, obviously inks lake swimming in the summer, marble falls shopping, Inks Lake State Park hiking/swimming.
