We like to tent camp on the river, they have the glamping set ups that are great for the kids, my in-laws stayed in a rental cabin along the river and also rented a RV spot with full hook up. We spent our Central Texas vacation with all of our family on the lamp River and went fishing for rainbow trout and bass. We're gonna come back for the tubing adventure when it warms up a bit. We drove to the property prior to booking. Staff allowed us access to view the property, and we knew immediately we wanted to stay at one of the sites with the Perdernales views. Both camping trips, we stayed in R18, beautiful views of the river. First trip we went to Luckenback and listened to music and went to 2 wineries, both excellent wine: La Vie Estate Winery and Featherstone Ranch Vineyards. This last trip we went to: Exotic Zoo & Sandy Road Vineyards, excellent wine, great views. Highly recommend staying at River's Edge Campground.

I did not see any concrete pads just grassy areas with hookups. No one was in the office that day so we just drove around. There is a picnic area available and bbq grills also. This area is down by the dock. There is a list of amenities posted at the office along with phone numbers. One can fish off the pier if they choose. There was one covered area to sit at if you bbq. On the whole it was clean but you always have that rogue camper who doesn't keep up his/ her pad area. Why is that?! There are conveniently located dumpsters. This location is near a Donut store, HEB, washateria, Dollar Store, Whataburger, Sonic, and several Mexican restaurants and Mr Gatti's pizza.

Very busy but sites are large so that helps a lot. Bathrooms are the best we've seen in Texas - clean, hot water, great water pressure, fully stocked. Beautiful lake with fishing, and kayak, canoes and paddleboars to rent. Lots of birds and great hiking among boulders and rocks. Will come back on future trips.

It was deeply embedded into the chairs and mattresses. It absorbed into all our clothes and sleeping bags and stuff sitting in there two days. After coming home our stuff is been in the garage a day and the smell is so potent the garage smells like faint smoke from airing out. If smells bother you even slightly, avoid that cabin at all costs. Not sure if others smell like it now too, and a bunch of jerks have just chain smoked in all cabins or just this one.
