I appreciate and loved working with our Physical Therapist, Divine Padilla. We were assigned to work with Divine because my 1-year old (at the time) was a severe tip-toe walker which caused significant delays to her being able to walk. I cannot recommend Divine enough. Her patience, her knowledge, her empathy, her friendliness are all SO appreciated. I would text her videos of my daughter and ask her questions, and she'd always respond with great advice. My daughter grew attached to her too, despite only meeting her in person one time. When we first started PT, my daughter hated it - likely because the stretches were uncomfortable for her. Once my daughter started becoming more mobile and she gained more flexibility, she began looking forward to her virtual sessions with Divine because she made them fun for Adele. I couldn't even bring my laptop into the living room without my daughter excitedly running after the laptop yelling "Divine!" because she thought she just lived on the screen permanently. If you would have told me that by the time we ended PT that my daughter would be running, playing soccer, and going up and down stairs independently, I would have had trouble believing you. It just seemed so out-of-reach at the time as her toe-walking was so severe. But with Divine's dedicated attention to Adele, we made it happen! I am so grateful for Divine, and I just wanted to let you know what a gem you have on your staff! We are really going to miss working with her! I worked in cooper kids therapy as a service coordinator and it was one of the worse decisions I took. The service coordinator was run by two people and it was micro-managed very badly. They would nitpick everything that i did and send everything to correction multiple times till you fix it in their way. They had two training sessions with me and they expect me to know everything and understand everything. They do not want any changes but to follow their way. Everything has to be done their way. I also brought a few cases to them but when we decided I was leaving, those cases were given to someone else in the other agency that I worked for. One of the most horrible agencies I worked for. While some of the therapists have been good, the majority we've had are total flakes who frequently show up late, or don't show up at all. Contacting Cooper Kids, the response is generally "what's your problem?" We've now become the 'trouble' parents because we're demanding better service for our son with disabilities. Yes, imagine how unfair it is for us to 'demand' therapists show up and do the job they are being paid to do. You will stay home all afternoon waiting for the therapist, only to find out they got stuck in Long Island with a drunk friend and their cell phone battery died so they couldn't call (an actual reason we were given by one therapist). If you need help for a child with special needs, look elsewhere. read more

Horrible, All they care about is making $$$ and at their convenience. most of the therapists sent to your home will ask you to sign for hours that they did not work and rampant insurance fraud. Ive never seen such a band of thieves. You would think the good money that your ins was paying them you would actually get someone who was nice would come in and do their job properly. they look at your child like an ATM machine and act like they are doing you a favor. I agree with Michael when he said they are total flakes also they constantly harass you on the weekends and nights to try to get extra hours that are not needed and ask if you can sign for them. My twin boys received services from Cooper Kids Therapy Associates for 9 months. The therapists came to my home which made it so easy for us. My wife and I were able to participate in the sessions. The staff was extremely professional and put us at ease. My boys made so much progress. They are speaking and saying so many words. Their motor skills are so much better. Was introduced to this agency via the city (they work with Early Intervention). This star is for the therapist that was sent to me, not representative of the whole agency (although from the reviewd I'm reading here, I'm not surprised. If you are thinking about using Coopers for your child, message me and ill let you know exactly *who* to avoid. My son Nicholas has an expressive speech delay, and a therapist was assigned to him. She was friendly enough, and was late a few times because of traffic etc. Which was ok. But what became apparent was that he wasn't responding to her as she wanted. And over time it's understandable that it's frustrating...but it became to show. And that was not OK by any means. Very unprofessional. Not to mention that she thought he had underlying behavioral issue because he wasn't responding to her. "Do you do time out with him?" And "Are you planning on having another child?" were two of her questions. True I thought there might be underlying issues as well, but those questions just rubbed me the wrong way. Um have you ever thought that maybe he just doesn't respond...TO YOU? Sorry, but you aren't as good as you think you are. I talked to my other speech pathologist friends and they thought she was CRAP, not very professional, and didn't fully utilize other methods to draw him out. Anyway I already knew after a month it wasn't working out. But I wanted to keep trying despite this. I was always polite even when she came to the house, acted frustrated with him etc. And she suggested perhaps getting a new therapist. Well ok, her idea. So I said ok -- and the process began. At the time my son also was scheduled to go on vacation with my mom for two weeks, so I postponed sessions until his return on Tuesday. The weekend prior to the session, she texted to confirm Tuesday...And then it turns out she "forgets"' to schedule him in! Her response? "I kind of got the feeling you didn't want me to come anymore." I was taken aback. She just confirmed over the weekend! And I don't believe I ever acted like I didn't want her there. SHE was the one who suggested a new therapist because SHE wasn't making any headway with him. And I agreed since it was her suggestion. Delusional much? Ugh, hope our new therapist knows how to properly do speech therapy, doesn't take things personally, and doesn't act out when she's not able to handle a case successfully. read more
