I live in an apartment building. I do not own the building. And maybe that explains what happened with this crew from Coos Bay Plumbing. Three of them showed up yesterday afternoon after building management called them over to unclog the toilet. It's an old building that periodically has plumbing issues. On this job they worked for about two hours, taking turns at it, with a lot of back and forth discussion on what to do. At one point one of them asked me if I had any paper towels, which seemed odd. Why didn't they bring their own paper towels? Surely they must have known there would be spilled water. In any case, I didn't have enough for them, which I didn't. Sorry, I said. I don't know if this made them mad. Maybe it did. The guy said "no problem" and continued on. Finally, after the two hours, their leader decided that the job was just too big for them. The apartment manager would have to call a "drain cleaner." Okay, fine, I thought. This fellow also told me that they pulled part of a towel out of the toilet, which seemed weird, since I had never flushed a towel. But okay, fine. Turns out it was part of a paper towel that I had apparently flushed years ago, before I knew better not to do that. Before leaving, the leader of the gang smiled and said he cleaned the floor for me, which I was glad to hear, and thanked him. Then he bowed and went out the door. Weird. After they left I went to the bathroom and noticed the shower curtain disturbed. Pulling it back, I found a football-sized hunk of sewage that they pulled out of the toilet and dumped in the tub. Maybe it was a joke, I thought. Or maybe this was how some plumbers dealt with their own waste products, at home, and they just didn't know any better. But, no, I think it was more likely an act of hostility. Why? I have no idea. Today the building manager sent for Roto-Rooter. One guy showed up, and in less than half an hour had the toilet unclogged and the drain pipe free and clear. Left no mess whatsoever, either. So if you have a clogged drain here in the Coos Bay area, do yourself a favor. Avoid the amateurs and just call Roto-Rooter. read more

A broken wye was repaired/replaced at my rental house in Myrtle Point. The appointment was scheduled promptly, the plumber arrived on schedule, the broken wye was repaired/replaced straight away, the price was very reasonable. I had another issue come up at my own home; I called John at Coos Plumbing, he came out promptly (same day) to determine the problem, and I was able to schedule an appointment for the repair. I have called Coos Plumbing twice in the last month and I'm very pleased with their efficiency, explanations, service and pricing. I'm not one to put a review on a company where a organization/entity meets expectations on a task as expected, but to my surprise, I was blown by the costumer service, courtesy, quickness, direction communication and accommodating needs, but also as....much in high demand/busy plumbing services are, John and his crew fit our emergent water issue, as John delegated-rearranged his projects with his staff to fit us in, just shows you no matter how big or small your needs are, you'll be taken care off.
