My dog was in on March 17 th for her annual check up and dental cleaning. I saw no one I'd ever seen before, that was concerning but generally the staff was pleasant. Lab work showed a likely UTI and anemia. The anemia was not shared with me. My dog did well over all and almost $900 later she came home. The next several days were uneventful but on Sunday March 22 in early evening my dog became ill and showed signs of distress. A trip to Mountain Emergency Vet was in order. Upon exam and radiograph it was determined she had a ruptured tumor on her spleen and there was little to be done so my sweet precious Buttercup was euthanized I'm not suggesting CBVC did anything wrong but it's their behavior since that has shown their true mission which is the almighty dollar and lack of caring being their mission. The emergency vet notified CBVC early March 23 of Buttercups passing. I called later that morning. Now mind you my dog had her annual On the 17th March and needed no routine vet services for a year had she lived. On Saturday April 4th I received a text from CBVC saying my dog needed vet services. I was really distressed and called them and chewed them out. Done with their incompetence so I thought. Yesterday I got a postcard saying my dog which passed 3 weeks earlier needed an annual checkup. These people should never be allowed to be in business. They really don't care about your pet or you. Run like hell to another Vet as fast as you can go. My heart is broken at the loss of my sweet precious Buttercup and they're so cruel that every time I start getting into a better head space they hit me again. They are cruel and evil. read more

Tammy and Nicole at the reception desk were wonderful. Marissa, the vet tech, was also very kind and capable. Doctor Deanna Hayes was very kind, did not rush through our visit, unexplained everything very thoroughly. The prices were surprisingly lower than we expected. read more

Our little girl hurt her back leg a couple of days earlier and we decided to take her here. Dr Katya Weikel quickly diagnosed a displaced knee cap. The doctor and vet techs worked on her and got it back in place quickly! We were visiting the area and are so thankful they took walk-ins. Very nice staff, quick service and we left with a happy dog! when I brought my 9.5 yr Cane Corso in for pain from Dental Periodontal Disease and him going through 3 surgeries in 7 months and the medication most vets in our area just want to prescribe trazadone and gabapentin which doesn't work for him because his other k9s have nerves showing and I explained to the vet what meds work for him and she said she was comfortable with prescribing him but she needed to do a IM anestesia and wouldn't be so hard on him beauties my concern of going through another surgery is the last one it took him days to recover and whe it came time to refill his meds they said they can't and that was for one time and basically said good luck. they owe me money and was exposed to call me when they got some gabapentin together and that was last week. the vet agreed to prescribe him the medication but after $400 they said no and that not caring and compassionate. I've had to get my own dr right me pain meds before because the lack of sympathy with these vets, Copper basin and Nottely oaks which did two surgeries in less than two w instead of doing all the first time. Dont make the mistakes I've made thinking these vets will keep their word and be caring and compassionate. if him drooling for hours and hours and soaks up multiple shower towels and moaning all night, shaking his head all the time and him just moaning is just torture to him and I. Hes my world and I'll do whatever it takes but I won't spend another dollar at either of these Vets. They just lie to you so easily! read more

an era has ended.....ever since Dr Mitchell left, everything has changed. the prices kept rising, and imo, the service went downhill. used to be, when you said Copper Basin, you got *i love Dr Mitchell!!!* used to be $35 and you could bring in your whole crew. i used to have five beagles, and i could get exams, bloodwork, and possibly an Rx for a booboo and pay less than $200 with everything. the last time i was in with three, cost me over that just for shots. they now take days to respond to Rx requests, and seems like they don't even answer the phones. when the place changed hands, they should've changed the name..... CBVC is no longer the most awesome clinic ever.....they are sullying the legacy that Dr Mitchell worked so hard to create..... my remaining beagle has a new vet now..... read more

Everything I've said about the negatives are being or have been addressed. There is a good amount of remodelling and construction going on now. Updating the inside to allow more staff and doctors to making it much more pleasant inside. Also I know they do have an after hours emergency clinic as well now. Would go anywhere else in the area. Checks all the boxes and has come a long way to fix what I saw as areas that could have been improved. Will get some updated pics next time I'm there. read more

Dr Mitchell is a great vet but they have doubled their prices due to remodeling. Not only that, but if they tell you Kayla has an appointment available, go elsewhere. Dr Kayla has disappointed us on several occasions. From here on out we may end up elsewhere. Not sure yet. It's sad because we loved this place and Dr Mitchell. It's heartbreaking bc once you have an amazing vet, you prefer to hold onto them. read more

I've been using this Veterinary for over 20 years. No more! It's not the same sense Dr Mitchell has left. All they think about is making money! I had a prescription for my dog from this Veterinary for years and been ordering it from PetMeds because they were 50 percent cheaper. They want fill it now told me they were having problems with them and I had to order from them. I've never had a problem with PetMeds they just want the money! I contacted PetMeds and told them what they were saying about them! There are other Veterinarians in our area that will work with PetMeds . read more

Can't say enough wonderful things about this clinic or Dr. Hays! The staff, the vet techs, and the whole atmosphere of the building screams "WE CARE ABOUT YOUR FUR BABIES AND YOU!" They take the time to listen and thoroughly examine your animals. They also have a website online that keeps pet records, appointments, and useful knowledge that any pet parent would appreciate. They send reminders, refills, and take the extra steps to keep you up to date on test results, etc. The office visits are half of what other clinics charge, proving they truly care about the animals and not just the money! Dr. Hays also takes the time to review the books on correct dosages and best ways to treat the symptoms thus staying alert to the latest developments and techniques discovered! They offer free food, and accessories to clients in need! Virtually unheard of nowadays! If you have any items that are still useful and clean but not needed anymore.....such as towels, blankets, dog clothes, crates, strollers, etc..... they would be appreciated and used gratefully for the babies at this superior clinic! Copper Basin Veterinary clinic is a charming little place to take your pet when it is feeling ill or in need of a checkup,immunizations or spay and neutering service in McCaysville,Georgia on the border Tennessee. I have to say that I would loved my experience here and was so grateful that Doctor Mitchell was able to see my dog that had fallen ill on our trip so quickly. I was staying at in Epworth when my dog started feeling lethargic,weak and completely not herself. The office was closing in 45 min and the receptionist was warm and welcoming to me about me bringing in my furry friend.I cannot thank them enough for helping my dog.I was so worried about her. The doctor is a no fuss kind of guy,he will give you great advice on the aftercare of your pet and get you the medicines that your pet needs to keep your best friend well.Or help them when we need to bring them back to health again.Make no doubt about it there are great professionals holding down the fort here raising the bar.You can really tell they love animals and helping pets feel better. This vet clinic is like the Public Health Dept for your pet. Low budget, so the prices are great. Good for yearly shots, maybe a worm test or TINY ailments. Don't expect much. Dr Boyd is a great elderly gentleman who is full of knowledge and "elderly". Dr Mitchel hardly ever comes out of his office, maybe when needed. The techs are rather rude and not the most knowledgeable (I know, I was a vet tech once) - kinda scatter brained. But they can weigh, draw a shot, and hold your pet for exams. Be assured - this is barely your mediocre vet clinic. read more

We use Copper Basin for routine appointments and minor injuries. For anything serious, I recommend using Ocoee Animal Hospital instead.

We have family in Blue Ridge and this is their FAVORITE vet. He has seen over 10 of their dogs over the years. He came highly recommended to me. I have had 3 dogs "fixed" here. It is worth the drive!! Dr. Mitchell is phenomenal. The prices cant be beat! $65 for a spay is unheard of in Atlanta. Office staff are nice and friendly. Whole thing was quick and simple- had no issues. I love him!! The office is in the tiniest town- its just adorable. Parking is up the hill right at the front door of the office, don't park on the street- go up the driveway. read more

Dr. Mitchell has taken care of many of our pets including cats and dogs over the years. He takes the time to explain their ailments and or the care of them and is very inexpensive. He has spayed both my dogs and my cats and I've never had any complications or issues. On two occasions we had emergency issues and he saw our pets right away and he is compassionate and caring. read more

I see many glowing reviews for Dr Mitchell and this clinic. Unfortunately this was far from my experiences. We had an elderly dog who was on heart meds and we were told by our vet in FL that we couldn't get more w/ out taking to a local vet. So we took our very I'll dog in and saw Dr Boyd. He was very compassionate and gave us the meds. The next day things went downhill quickly for our dog and it was time to put him to rest. We called again. Staff said bring the dog in only Dr Mitchell could administer that. So we go crying already and upset. They take us to a small cramped area where 2 cats were meowing like crazy and a large dog lying on the floor. Dr. came in never even introduced himself. Just said we'll give him 2 shots. One to calm him and the other to put him to sleep. Gave him first shot & walked out. Came back in few minutes later to give 2nd shot. Listened to his heart and said he's gone, sorry for your loss as he walked out again. Didn't know if we were supposed to wait or leave. No vet tech no one ever came back in and there's my dead dog on the table. Very uncaring and unprofessional at a time when we could have used some compassion. Sorry that will not be our vet. Beyond disgusted with the appointment today. What should have been a low stress and quick appointment for a euthanasia it was anything but that. It started off ok with my dog being sedated after that it went down hill and was incredibly frustrating. I am well aware of how this procedure goes and know that things can go wrong but this was ridiculous and I have never witnessed this in my experience of several years of clinical work or a few previous animals we have had to put down. If this vet was not confident in her abilities to perform this procedure, she should have placed a catheter to ensure a quick passing and had enough medication on hand to administer one time. Rather than that, my dog was shaved in multiple places ,poked multiple times and the vet had to leave the room more than once to get additional medication. In all that time my dog still didn't pass within a reasonable amount of time. I am beyond frustrated that this vet made this situation even worse than it needed to be. What should have been a quick peaceful passing turned into a stressful nightmare and made our last moments with our pet anything but desirable. This is the second time this exact vet has seen our animals and it is the last. I will never trust this place to touch our animals ever again. What once was a amazing vet practice has definitely gone down hill after the previous Dr left. I warn anyone thinking about coming here, to not do so. read more

We knew no one would be at his office on Sunday but tried anyway. He was in checking dogs from the previous days surgeries and answered the phone. This is to replace my previous bad review of my experience with Copper Basin Vet. I took my cat there, and was told that she would have to have all teeth removed due to severe stomatitus, that all the teeth had to go. But when they did the procedure, they only removed a few teeth. When I questioned why they only did part of the job, they explained that I could always come back and have the rest done, and could come for monthly steroid shots and antibiotics, and get her teeth cleaned monthly to help "control the situation." In other words, I could repeat the $217.00 monthly bills I had just paid. I was very unhappy with that explanation. In addition, I was told that they had 4 dental procedures that day, in one day, instead of the usual 1 procedure a week. I guess they were saying they didn't have time to complete my cats procedure because they were too busy. I was very upset that Kitty would have to go through more visits to fix the problem, because the vet had told me on the previous visit that if she didn't have all the teeth removed, she would continue to have pain. Fast forward about 2 weeks, Kitty is able to eat much better than before, and is gaining weight. So, I am changing my review to acknowledge that she is doing better. I don't know how she will do after the long acting steroids wear off. But I changed the review from 1 start to 3 stars. read more

Dr. Mitchell and his staff are wonderful. They are caring, compassionate, in a word ... "Animal lovers"... okay that was 2 words. Dr. Mitchell and the other doctors and staff are very experienced and so very good at diagnosing problems and getting our doggies and kitties fixed up. I would just say this, which to me summarizes my view of Copper Basin Vet Clinic... "It isn't all about the money". Doc and company are more interested in healing the animals than in getting the big money. I have volunteered at the clinic and can attest that they do so much for rescue groups, individual animal owners, and strays, even when payment seems questionable. If you can donate to their philanthropy, wonderful. If you just need a wonderful vet, this is the place to go. Enough said. read more

We took our 11 week old puppy there last week. He had been sick for a few days and it turned out to be parvo. We were able to call and visit any time during business hours. He was so sick that we just knew he wasn't going to make it. Parvo is such a deadly disease that most dogs don't survive. This morning we received a call that curry was ready to come home! The entire staff at copper basin vet clinic had done their job to the highest extent possible. They no doubt saved our baby and now with a little time to gain back the weight lost he's going to be just fine. I want to thank everyone there for saving our puppy. Best, most caring vet I've ever found. Puts the animals welfare above how much money he might stand to make. If you can't pay he'll treat the animal anyway if it's badly injured. He ran a number of tests & evaluated a stray I brought him & when he said the animal was too badly injured to survive, put him down for me & only charged me $25. I know the heartworm & leukemia tests alone ran him more than that. read more

Most caring vet ever. He has operated on my mother-in-law's dog several times and took a tumor off and gave the dog some more time. This dog is so special to my mother-in-law as she lost her legs in 2000, has been in and out of the hospital and her loyal dog has been waiting for her through it all. He has tumors again that Dr. Mitchell removed and Ike is better since this surgery too. Dr. Mitchell goes the extra mile to care for the animals and treats them like his own. Special blessing I pray for Dr. Mitchell for his caring heart. The sweet animals in his clinic that he has saved set an atmosphere of animal love when you walk in and see them walking around showing the health and love they receive. Staff are so kind. I can't say enough about Doc Mitchell and the staff at Copper Basin Veterinary Clinic. They saved my Chihuahua mix's life after a neighbor's dog almost tore him in half! They cleared up a pesky rash that was making my Feist's life miserable. And they neutered all my dogs. My dogs actually wag their tails when I tell them we're going to the vets. read more

I am very disappointed with this clinic. I had heard good things about them but will "never" go there again. I went there twice in 4 days to have them look at my dogs infected eye. They gave him meds and drops all the time saying he would be fine. Said it was just a scrape and was healing fine. Turns out they were very wrong and my dog had Glaucoma the whole time and has a 50% chance of loosing his eye. Had they caught it on either visit my dog likely would have been fine. read more
